What I've seen recently is a trend since the highway code was updated to make it 'explicit' that you must give way to pedestrians and cycles across junctions you're turning into. I've seen greater numbers just stepping out without a care expecting you to stop. To me I interpret it as 'look, ensure the vehicle driver has seen you then step out as you have right of way'
Driving standards have fallen off a cliff in the last few years. I average one incident of someone cutting across me without indicating once a week, where before it was less than a monthly occurance.
100% agree - cyclists and pedestrians have taken the new rules to mean they have complete right of way and dont have to take any regard for not putting themselves in harms way - it makes being a safe driver very difficult indeed. Add to that modern cars having every control under glass so you spend more time distracted from the road and the roads are less safe now than 10 years ago!
Its the same in my country New Zealand too. The entitled predesretions and 🚴 cyclists have taken over the Asylum on the roads !. Seems like a worldwide trend.....
yep... its crazy People seem to believe their safety is no longer their responsibility but that of the people around them. If they get harmed someone else will be to blame so act as if they are immortal. People are turning into zombies! haha
