    • @Scapa25
      @Scapa25 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed. I've seen cars running close behind blue light jobs on empty motorways before following to A&E. The Seat may be a chancer, but neither us, the dash cam driver nor the compiler are in a position to judge.

    • @roadsafegb8740
      @roadsafegb8740  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed he could have been a relative. I'd bet he was just taking the piss though.
      If it was relatives following the ambulance their driving would still be classed as driving without due care and attention IMHO. The Seat was undertaking and straddling lanes in an attempt to keep up with the ambulance which had its lights flashing and sirens on. The Seat could have been hit by other vehicles moving back in to lane after having let the ambulance past them, not expecting a non emergency vehicle following close behind. The Seat introduced a risk for the all those on the road IMHO.

    Just stumbled across your channel - I lived in Chorlton and Whalley Range for many years and still have friends round there. Your clips have reminded me how bad the standard of driving had become there before I moved away in 2019.
    I love riding a bike (a normal upright bike with a luggage rack, not a racing type), but I ended up driving everywhere because I had so many near misses with entitled idiots running red lights at speed, overtaking without giving me any room, not giving way etc. I was shouted and spat at for no reason, and I was even threatened and had things thrown at me on several occasions.
    Manchester is now so densely populated that the situation on the roads at the moment is untenable - hopefully with changes to public transport, better bike lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods, things will change for the better. Sticking some 20mph signs on lampposts doesn't do anything!

    • @Interknetz
      @Interknetz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So it excuses the potential danger it could put others in as well as the ambulance personnel?
      What good does chasing an ambulance all the way to the hospital achieve? Are you planning to jump out of the car immediately without parking? Are you going to suddenly learn to become a doctor and help? No, instead people will probably block up the A&E access, and get in the way of the hospital doing their job.
      I get why people would do it of course, but putting many others lives in front of one is rather selfish in my opinion no matter how much you love them. But I suppose we do live in a selfish world so... fuck it I guess.

    If less than 30 days old, tell the cammers to submit the footage to police under OperationSnap. That'll get the stupid bastards a caution at the very least, a driver awareness course or points & a fine. Will serve them right! There's a red light camera for traffic coming the other way ironically. You may just be able to see it next to the dark car on the other side of the junction waiting to come towards us.
      The Maserati should not have crossed the first stop line as the lights were red well before he got there, cyclists or no cyclists. If there was a traffic copper around he would have been in his right to issue a TOR.

      Not my incident but I have the full 3 minute clip that was sent to me. There was no previous interaction between the HGV and the cammer who approached the lights from a different route to find the lorry already at the lights in lane 2.
      Lorry should have indicated his intention to move over to lane 1 and should have been aware of the 2 cars already in that lane. I personally would have been a bit more cautious of trying to pass the HGV on the inside though.

      if anything happened before and the hgv decided to risk crushing a car because he was annoyed, then he needs DQ and possible way more serious action taken against him. im not sure what point you thought you were making, but it would make the hgv look way way way worse. using the wrong lane and hoping is bad, running someone off the road in anger is serious.
      i tend to assume most ppl dont drive hgvs too and are oblivious to how well you can actually see and manouver them

      @roadsafegb8740  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anoncyclist2131 I agree. The initial comment seemed to imply the lorry driver's action might be understandable if there was an altercation beforehand.
