    I know it's the old cliche but in my driving experience, BMW and Audi Drivers really are the most ignorant on the Roads. The most dangerous are young lads in Golfs, they tend to hammer along and don't realize what can happen.

    0:31 Crazy overtake but it also shows the need to be aware of what's behind you. That woman was oblivious and nearly shat herself.

    Starting at about 1:10 - you don't accelerate through red lights for any reason. It's totally irrelevant whether there are kids are waiting to cross or not.

  • @atffan
    @atffan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So, the question that occurs to me is "do people deliberately set out to run red lights - malice aforethought as it were - when they switch the ignition on or are they so wrapped up in their own world, chatting, listening to the radio or God forbid using the phone that they are genuinely unaware of their surroundings". I see it all the time on the Huntingdon Ring Road and I'm afraid that I just don't understand how so many people can be of a mind that the rules don't apply to them.

    A friend of mine took his motorcycle CBT and learnt during his training that the green area was for bicycles only to get an advanced start. Despite the fact that he had been driving for a number of years, was genuinely totally ignorant of this.

      Possible driving offences can be reported to GMP within 10 days of the offence occuring though.

      @@MrSonicAdvance For minor driving offences ( dealt with by means of points, fine or requirement to pay and attend a driving course) a court appearance would not be required if the driver admits guilt. Let's face it, only an idiot would deny clear video evidence and insist that they want their day in court. Plus if they lost in court they'd have pay extra in court costs too.

    @3.09 The regulation on overtaking at zebra crossings actually reads
    "24.-(1) Whilst any motor vehicle (in this regulation called “the approaching vehicle”) or any part of it is within the limits of a controlled area and is proceeding towards the crossing, the driver of the vehicle shall not cause it or any part of it-
    (a)to pass ahead of the foremost part of any other motor vehicle proceeding in the same direction; or
    (b)to pass ahead of the foremost part of a vehicle which is stationary for the purpose of complying with regulation 23, 25 or 26."

    The last vehicle with registration starting with SA15, or perhaps intended to be 'SAIS' is perhaps declaring his nationality. To the cringe of all the excellent Englishmen drivers, 'Sais' is the Welsh singular for 'Englishman'. Don't worry all Englishwomen, the Welsh singular would be 'Saesnes', so you are in this instant, luckily excluded. One up for Englishwomen drivers perhaps? 😉

    It should be pointed out that using a cycle lane to overtake, is an offence. 4:54

    • @roadsafegb8740
      @roadsafegb8740  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a mandatory cycle lane as not bordered by a solid white line. From the highway code:
      When it comes to a cycle lane marked with broken white lines, use common sense in relation to the term ‘unavoidable’. While you should not normally cross them, there may be occasions when the confines of space or the nature of traffic dictate it as unavoidable.

      I think Rule 165 is clear enough.

      if you would have to enter a lane reserved for buses, trams or cycles during its hours of operation"

    • @roadsafegb8740
      @roadsafegb8740  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grahvis Rule 165 doesn't apply as the lane is not reserved for cyclists. The broken line as opposed to a solid line bordering the cycle lane makes all the difference.

      So the dashed line does not mark a cycle lane, a part of the road reserved for cyclists, albeit that it can be driven on if unavoidable?

    All from the same town in a short period of time? The only way now is for proper punitive punishments. Instant lengthy bans, some for life, for serious offenses. Impound their vehicles so they can't illegally drive them and sell them with the money made going into enforcement of traffic laws. Zero tolerance on speeding in urban areas, even 1 mph over the legal limit with proper fines or short bans if they can't pay. People may then think twice about driving in such deliberate reckless ways.

      @@roadsafegb8740 Wouldn't agree with life ban from driving as then there is no incentive to rehabilitate. Impounding cars for people who drive while disqualified is an excellent idea (the Australian police do that) - even if the car that is being driven is a family member or friends car.
      As for Cactusbase's zero tolerance on speeding, I definitely don't agree with that. We want the police to catch the idiots, not someone who strays 1 mph over the signed limit.
