3D Printed Star Citizen Power Control Panel - Building a Home Cockpit ep 9

  • In this last video of the series of building a new home/simulator/virtual cockpit, I’m building a 3D printed power control panel for Star Citizen. Besides being a fun little addition to my cockpit, it’s also the first game specific module. It interacts with the game and also displays the status of the specific system. Not with APIs (since we don’t have them yet), but as well as possible.

Unless you have some sort of schematic design and dimensions that you were actually willing to share?

    looks great. one question: sometimes i have the problem (e.g. after a major win update) that all my usb devices (joysticks, throttle, rudder...) get new ID's and i have to change the star citizen "layout....xml" file. (e.g. old input="js5_... " is now new "input="js9_... "). do u have the same problem and if yes how do you handle this situation? is there something more easy? rebinding everything ingame is out of the question and way too much work....

    • @UndeadParrot
      @UndeadParrot  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've basically done two things: first I have mapped all the controls to four or five virtual joysticks (instead of I guess 8 I have there), which makes things a bit easier.
      Then if the joystics will get messed, use a console command "pp_resortdevices joystick 1 2" two switch the joystick numbers. This example naturally will switch 1 and 2 between each other, so you'll need to figure out what joystick is what, and what they should be.

    Hello!
    Are you using 2 or 3 way switches and on/off or on/on?
    I want to build something like that as well. However i am not sure how to make it work. Because if the engine is a toggle button i need the same key input two times. So a 2 way on/off Switch couldnt really work because there is just one key input.

    • @UndeadParrot
      @UndeadParrot  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have latching on-on switches here. Not an optimal since most of the games don't support setup like thigs. But I used Joystick Gremlin to map it so that when I push the switch, it sends a short keypress.
      Reason for my setup is that I wanted to have the on-off lights. It's just a two channel switch where second channel is for the light, nothing special.
      I would recommend using momentary on-off-on switches.
