This still has the best ending to the franchise. Classic shot of Indy, his dad (wonderfully portrayed by Sean Connery), Sallah, and Marcus riding off into the sunset
My favorite of the franchise, and one of my favorite movies of all time. I LOVE the chemistry between Ford and Connery, and this was the first movie i ever watched in a theater, with my father, so i will always have a place in my heart for this one.
One of my favourite movies of all time, up with Paddington 2, Spider-Man Into the Spider Verse and Monsters University!!! Edit: Harrison Ford and Sean Connery are an epic duo together, and that is a fact.
This is my favorite film in the franchise. I’m a sucker for father and son stories, and this is one of the best. One subtle thing that I think is easy to miss is that chronologically Indy experiences evil power first in Temple of Doom. Then, he experiences the wrath of God in Raiders. And, finally, he sees the power of God save his father in Last Crusade. That is such a beautiful, powerful, and subtle character arc towards faith. I love it.
This is my favorite of the 5. The heart, the laughs, the adventure. It had it all. And in my opinion, it had the best ending. The stakes of Indy completing the 3 tests for the Grail, all while his Dad slowly withers away from his wound. Crazy stuff, amazing movie.
My favorite of the bunch! Sean Connery and Harrison Ford were the perfect duo as father and son. A great follow up to Raiders and is the best in the franchise overall!
It's been a while since I rewatched the original Indiana Jones trilogy(I didn't bother to see the latest one; it looks dumb) but Last Crusade still remains my favorite, alongside Temple of Doom. It had everything; humor, action, and Sean Connery was brilliant(a term I don't use lightly). It was an excellent movie and a nice capoff for the entire franchise. When I finished rewatching this movie and the trilogy, I uttered to myself "They don't make them like they used to." . Because what we see in this movie are real stunts and everything is lived in. Instead of bad green screens and VFX work(a lot of modern movies sadly). All in all, for those who have never seen this movie or the Indy trilogy, go watch it. See why adventure movies became so big.
Hey Sean i have a proposal for a future 31 on 31. An action adventure which includes: Indiana Jones 5, pirates of Carribbean 5, Jurassic park 6, tomb raider 3, Jumanji 4, Mummy (both Fraser and cruise) 4 and the spinn offs scropion king 4. I would initially included jaws instead of the last one but you have already covered it. Let me now your thoughts on that idea
After rewatching the trilogy in recent years, I'm certain that Last Crusade is my favourite Indy movie, due to the villains and emotion. Honestly the only real gripe I have is a nitpick. I hated the backstory where Indy's mother lied to her family about her illness. That's only 1 line however. One of my favourite movies.
She never lied about her illness. Henry Jones Sr. hinted that she knew very well of his obsession towards the Holy Grail and that she died before Henry could realize some of the errors of his ways and be there for her. His obsession played a role in worsening her illness because he chose his studies over her in a way. She knew this, and she chose to keep it from him for his own sake
@@dawsynasay4841 She should’ve told her family about her illness. Not coming forward about important information is also considered lying. A serious illness is not something you keep from your loved ones.
Part of my number one favorite movie from 1989 and my all time favorite Indiana Jones movie. This movie in general has a lot of things done right. Specifically the banter of Sean Connery and Harrison Ford and seeing Indiana Jones in a new light.
This is the quintessential dad film. That last shot is perfect. This film is more focused on telling a simple story about Indiana Jones than being cinematic perfection. The opening scene I think is even better than Raiders. It's very personal for Indy. How he got the hat and then the fight on the ship.
Who's to bet this is in the top 10 Movies to watch on Father's Day?!!! Future Me Here: What The Heck?!!! *I up this Looked Up* I looked it up and it was in the Top 5...I called it without knowledge!!!
I’ve always loved this movie as it’s a rare instance of a sequel that is just as good as the original, borrowing the same plot points but with just enough new elements. The Last Crusade imo greatly benefited from having not just fantastic action set pieces, a good story, funny moments, scary moments, emotional moments, memorable scenes, another iconic John Williams score, but the relationship between Sean Connery and Harrison Ford as father and son, since that’s what is at the core of the story: a son learning to understand and respect his father even more in the adventure they’re on to collect a religious artifact to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. The casting was just perfect, as the father-son relationship felt believable and even fun to watch at times. This is what makes the last crusade the best of the sequels.
My pick for the best adventure film of all time. The action is awesome, the characters are so fun to watch, the magic is firing on all cylinders, and every scene and many lines are iconic. Sean Connery as Henry Jones Sr. is my favorite addition to the franchise. This is also the movie in the franchise that I have rewatched the most. Simply put, while I acknowledge that Raiders is a classic and I also think that movie is excellent, I have always preferred this movie. Even though the movies continued after this one, the final shot of this movie ended the trilogy on a perfect note.
This movie, unlike the original two which I’ve seen as a young kid, was more of a recent viewing experience, I don’t think it was any earlier than 2022 so I’ve had a very fresh take on this movie and it’s so good. I love this movie so much for its humor, the banter between Henry Sr. and Indy, the action, all of it so fun. While the plot is very reminiscent of the original where it’s just a McGuffin story about a Christian artifact, it’s nuisances add so much that you don’t mind it, and sets are so iconic. I don’t have anything negative to say about this film, it’s a 10/10
This And Raiders are some of the best films ever and a perfect double feature. Connery And Ford deserved Oscar nominations. This was the true ending that Indy deserved.
The Last Crusade has always been my favourite of the Indiana Jones Franchise, when it was originally a trilogy. Sean Connery was a brilliant addition and his Chemistry with Harrison Ford is so pitch perfect 10/10.
I can’t call this movie as good as Raiders because it has several of those Raiders elements, but this is still one of my Top 50 Favorite Movies of All Time. It has all of the globetrotting, humor, and action set pieces that I want from an Indiana Jones film. But when Sean Connery is added into the mix, it brings such life to this film. Adding to that, I love that Sallah and Marcus get more screen time, I love that the holy grail is the artifact that’s being tracked down, and the opening sequence is fantastic as Indy’s origins. Overall, it’s an A+ film that I’ve always loved.
Speaking of James Bond, with the release of “Dial of Destiny,” five actors have been in both the Bond and Indiana Jones franchises: - Sean Connery - John Rhys-Davies - Julian Glover - Alison Doody - Mads Mikkelsen Just a random tidbit that I thought I’d share.
I've seen Temple of Doom the most because it was played on HBO/Cinemax all the time in the early-90s. But Last Crusade remains my favorite. Indy was born on July 1, 1899. The early part of Last Crusade was set in 1912. River Phoenix was 18 portraying a 13-year-old Indy. I played my DVD box set of Indiana Jones all the time and I watched every featurette. How can you dislike a movie where Indiana Jones is the son of James Bond? And if you watch the BTS stuff, Harrison and Sean enjoyed working together. Sean was only 12 years older. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade happens to be Spielberg's favorite Indiana Jones/Raiders film. He stated this in the DVD extras like 20 years ago. Spielberg is trying to disown Temple of Doom which is considered racist by Indians and too dark and horrifying. Temple of Doom's issues for me isn't really because it's dark and scary. Or it sounding racist towards Chinese and Indian stereotypes. I think it suffers from a weak second act with the Kano fatality stuff. I believe Harrison was injured for a lot of it and they needed a stand-in. The movie gets quite slow after the dinner scene. And future Mrs. Spielberg was loud and annoying. Not as awful as Helena Shaw but Willie Scott still was annoying. I can understand India banning this film for insulting their culture. Tarantino actually loves Temple of Doom. He stated this in his podcast last year that he thought Last Crusade was boring and Temple of Doom was his favorite Spielberg film ever. The one that created a new rating called PG-13. None of the Indiana Jones movies are perfect. The Last Crusade involved an invisible bridge. Temple of Doom had Short Round fighting grown ass men and kicking them away after using a torch to get Indy out of his hypnosis. "Indy, I love you! Wake up, Indy!" The Last Crusade and Temple of Doom are my two favorite Indy films ever, so I'm not trying to bring one down to raise the other. I've seen both countless times like I have for Back To The Future I & II. They're both fun and highly replayable for me. I wouldn't be a big Indiana Jones fan without those two films. "Okie-dokie, Doctah Jones, hold on to your potatoes!" "Fortune and glory, kid. Fortune and glory." "We are going to die!" "He no nuts. He's crazy!" "If you are a Scottish lord, then I am Mickey Mouse." "How dare he!" (Harrison's Scottish accent was a little weak) "I should've mailed it to the Marx Bros." The Last Crusade is one of my favorite IJ movies when I was young, I love the scenes with Indiana Jones and his Dad of their dynamic. It's also my Dad's favorite too❤️
Last Crusade has always been my favorite of the series. Glad you feel the same about all the themes and relationship building present throughout the film.
The Last Crusade is my favorite Indy film and honesty a top 5 film for me. I recognize that Raiders might be objectively the best one, and I love Raiders, but for me I just prefer this one slightly more.
The movie was not made as a "farewell" for Indy or to send him into the final sunset. Indy was just the bait thrown at the audience. This movie was actually made to launch a new franchise starring Helena Shaw. I have NO PROBLEM with a new franchise, but either do it by not humiliating Indiana Jones or launch a new movie independent of Indiana Jones. They were just too AMBITIOUS.
*The* *Mandalorian* *Season* *3* I only recently finished watching The Mandalorian S3 the other day and I enjoyed it more than a lot of reactors did. Yeah, Ep 3 with the scientist was slow. I did not mind the slow burn after finishing Andor a couple weeks prior. Nice scenes at Coruscant. Then the Christopher Lloyd/Jack Black one has the lowest scores ever for a Mando episode. Yeah, the story with the malfunctioning droids was bad. Finally a dud from Bryce Dallas Howard but it wasn't slow. Had some ok moments. I know fans didn't like the whole Bo-Katan thing but I looked at S3 as really about the Mandalorians taking their planet back. It shouldn't be just about Din Djarin and Din Grogu. I want to know more of their culture and how they used to live. When The Armorer shows up, a lot of what she's doing can be very ASMR. Glad Emily Swallow got to participate more in the action sequences. I really thought prior that I wouldn't be invested with the Mandalorians taking Mandalore back but I was really rooting for them by the time they went to Jack Black's planet. I actually loved Jack Black's appearance. I like how he was paired with a chubby Black lady. So many toxic, racist, sexist SW fans. Everybody has to be white and with a penis, right? 🤣 Christopher Lloyd being a villain for that episode was stupid af. Overall, I give Mando S3 about a B. It's better than The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's the weakest season for that series but it's not terrible. I actually liked seeing Grogu inside that droid like he's Krang in TMNT. It can help him move faster and he can participate in the action. I always watch the storyboard artwork at the end because I love the music. I love that it's a modern Western in outer space. Between Andor S1 vs. Mando S3, Andor S1 is better because stakes were high in which anybody can die but Mando S3 is a little bit more replayable for me. It's dumber but it moves faster. And as an overall show, Mando is better than Andor. Better characters. More memorable episodes. More iconic theme song. I believe in 10 years, Mando will be viewed higher than Andor. I really did end up liking Andor. But it doesn't top Mando for me. I believe Mando is the best SW content we've had since The Empire Strikes Back. Jon Favreau did an amazing job with the story and world building. We got invested with this tribe. "This is the way" is an already iconic catchphrase. I prefer this world building because I don't want Star Wars to only be about Jedis and Siths. Mando and Andor are trying to break away from that. 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. The Mandalorian S1-S3 3. Revenge Of The Sith 4. A New Hope 5. Return Of The Jedi 6. Andor 7. Rogue One That's it. The rest don't matter. Hopefully, Ahsoka is decent. I hope when we finally get to the series finale of The Mandalorian, they break tradition and everyone can unmask themselves. We'll finally see Emily Swallow reveal herself as The Armorer. She's a pretty woman and seems good friends with Katie Sackhoff since they're close to the same age. Maybe Din Djarin can finally walk around unmasked like Boba Fett and maybe fall in love. So is he really going to be celibate and being a single dad forever? That little cabin he has should be enough room to raise a family with a human female. Or is he going to live the rest of his life like Luke Skywalker? Bitter old man? Or Han Solo and Indiana Jones? Seeing divorce papers? Find love, Djarin.
I give a lot of credit to this movie to the screenplay, it's really good. Lots of funny character moments between father and son. Well written by Jeffrey Boam (RIP).
I use the chosen statement all the time with family and friends, "you chose...wisely/poorly" depending on what happened. I still always get irritated that the guy didn't have her drink out of the wrong cup first that she picked, haha.
The Last Crusade took what made Raiders of the Lost Ark a truly great film and upped the comedy factor while also deepening it’s hero in a meaningful way, and in doing so it created an infinitely rewatchable film that continued the franchise's legacy. It’s a collection of all of the things about the first two films which made you an Indy fan in the first place, but this time with the addition of Sean Connery killing Nazi fighter pilots by orchestrating bird-strikes!
The last crusade is really the best film in the franchise. I can't stop laughing on the funny scenes of Sean Connery and Harrison Ford. They have great chemistry. This is not only the best Indiana Jones movie but for me this is one of my top 5 best movies all time
*Great review Sean! Your acknowledgement of the rehashed Nazi villains and Christian artifact storyline shows an understanding of the film's historical context while appreciating its unique qualities.*
In your ranking video, you mentioned Last Crusade giving you your favorite GIF to use on Twitter. Right after, you cut to a clip of Harrison Ford losing his hat several times while riding a horse. I thought that was the GIF. 😂 It did make sense, it was just incorrect.
I think this is the best Indiana Jones movie. I love Sean Connery and Harrison Ford together, and I think it has a really compelling story and great action. This IS the quintessential action movie, even more than Raiders.
Best movie of all time. Watched it at the cinema a few years ago: still fresh, still the best. The messages and values it presents are so powerful, so charged with meaning.... a pity they never could do it again.
I recently rewatched the Indiana Jones trilogy for the first in forever. I saw this one for the first time though. Not sure if I should continue. But I like goofy movies so I might 😂
I’ve mentioned this in his ranking video, but do you guys think this movie may be the reason Indy survived being in a refrigerator, because of the holy grail?
I think this was weakened by the fact that Marion was not in the story. Steven wanted her in it but George being George did not. 😒 Stupid choice. Imagine Marion was the one that got shot at and was dying at the end, instead of his dad who is already old anyway😒, and if when Indy was reaching for the grail and Marion was the one that said “Let it go”. I think that would have been better and much more climactic. It would tied both stories together beautifully.
I think Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark had better action sequences, better love story, and better villain, but this imo was funnier, better duo, etc
Ifs the best indy film. It has action and thrills. But also a good plot. I'm am definitely not a big fan of indy jones. But really like this film. 9/10
If Raiders of the Lost Ark didn't exist then this would easily be the greatest adventure movie ever! Definitely one of my all time favorite movies in one of my all time favorite franchises!
ROTLA 8/10 Marred only by anti climactic end. (Even if Indy had covered his eyes and blindly gotten Marion out of the trap, it would have been SO much better!) TOD 10/10 Indy is less than altruistic; Willie is a gold digger; and Shorty is a bit of a con artist. BUT, they all draw the line at enslaving children, TLC ✝ 8/10 ✝ Loved it. But I can't help but feel they missed an opportunity of redemption when Elsa couldn't understand the cup of CHRIST. ✝ KOTCS 2/10 NO! All they had to do was have Indy, Marion, Sallah, and Mutt join forces with a good Russian and realize that the real evil was an organization similar to SPECTRE. DOD zero It's gone. KK in her femi Nazi manner has killed Indy. Just like she did STAR WARS in TFA , TLJ , and TROS. And the OBI WAN series. And WILLOW. And SOLO. And the GALAXY STAR CRUISER HOTEL. And AHSOKA.

The Last Crusade is my favorite Indy film and honesty a top 5 film for me. I recognize that Raiders might be objectively the best one, and I love Raiders, but for me I just prefer this one slightly more.
Which is better, last crusade or dial of destiny?
One of the best movies ever. I love Last Crusade.
You know you are a huge Sean fan when youre instantly sad that the video is only 13mins long
I thought the same haha!
I wanted a 25-30 minute breakdown of the film…
The movie was not made as a "farewell" for Indy or to send him into the final sunset. Indy was just the bait thrown at the audience. This movie was actually made to launch a new franchise starring Helena Shaw. I have NO PROBLEM with a new franchise, but either do it by not humiliating Indiana Jones or launch a new movie independent of Indiana Jones. They were just too AMBITIOUS.
*The* *Mandalorian* *Season* *3*
I only recently finished watching The Mandalorian S3 the other day and I enjoyed it more than a lot of reactors did.
1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. The Mandalorian S1-S3
3. Revenge Of The Sith
4. A New Hope
5. Return Of The Jedi
6. Andor
7. Rogue One
That's it.
The best Indiana Jones film.
Rare that we get two movies with a perfect score in a franchise
3 movies
This is the ultimate father and son story!
The best of the series and one of my favorite movies ever.
Best Indiana jones movie
My favorite movie of all time!
The grails effects wore off, a day after they first drank from it. Otherwise Henry still would've lived.
@@luke0980I don't think so. I don't remember Henry drinking it.
@@ikedatike2533 Indy gave his dad some of the drink to save his life and poured it on his wound where he got shot.
I love this movie it’s really awesome and tons of fun and is personally my favorite Indy movie.
My favorite Indiana Jones movie.
hey sean this has nothing to do with indy but i'm a filmmaker and reaching out to different creators, you ever be interested in collaborating?
Happy 4th of July!!!!🇺🇸🎉🎆
I think this was weakened by the fact that Marion was not in the story. Steven wanted her in it but George being George did not. 😒 Stupid choice. Imagine Marion was the one that got shot at and was dying at the end, instead of his dad who is already old anyway😒, and if when Indy was reaching for the grail and Marion was the one that said “Let it go”. I think that would have been better and much more climactic. It would tied both stories together beautifully.
This is definitely my favourite of the bunch, I love it
Going To Rewatch The Franchise Then Come Back And Give My Opinion, Awesome Video As Always
I think Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark had better action sequences, better love story, and better villain, but this imo was funnier, better duo, etc
My favorite!
This one was a comedy and Sean Connery was awesome!
I know no movie is perfect but last crusade don’t miss it’s up there for one of the best movies adventure of all time
Make review about Interstellar pls
Great review, maybe my favourite of yours , bravo !
Ifs the best indy film. It has action and thrills. But also a good plot. I'm am definitely not a big fan of indy jones. But really like this film. 9/10
The real ending to the Indiana Jones series. There were no other movies afrer this...right, right?
This one’s always been my favorite
My favorite movie of all time
Perfect movie
this ones my favorite of all of them :D
In the Latin alphabet…
If Raiders of the Lost Ark didn't exist then this would easily be the greatest adventure movie ever! Definitely one of my all time favorite movies in one of my all time favorite franchises!
great video🎉🎉🎉
The true ending for the franchise.
1. (0:17-0:19)
*new intro*
2. Fun fact: it was the first Indiana Jones movie I ever saw!
It was an experience.
ROTLA 8/10 Marred only by anti climactic end.
(Even if Indy had covered his eyes and blindly gotten Marion out of the trap, it would have been SO much better!)
TOD 10/10 Indy is less than altruistic; Willie is a gold digger; and Shorty is a bit of a con artist. BUT, they all draw the line at enslaving children,
TLC ✝ 8/10 ✝ Loved it. But I can't help but feel they missed an opportunity of redemption when Elsa couldn't understand the cup of CHRIST. ✝
KOTCS 2/10 NO!
And AHSOKA.
