    I’ve been using Reaper for 12 years, and it’s been great seeing how it’s been getting more and more love.
    I only use it to record MIDI, almost exclusively. Works great!
    I love their business model. No need to pirate their software.

    I also use Reaper for everything. I started using it mostly for metal and rock because it was pretty easy to record my guitars and that stuff. Now I use it to make all my music, even lofi beats so for me it's my go-to DAW, it's incredibly flexible

    • @WodzuBeats

      Same story here! I was migrating from Cubase because I didn't want to pay for every new release and I saw Reaper as a cheaper alternative which turned out to be much more powerful tool than I expected.
      The thing with reaper tho is that people usually get scared by the default GUI and huge menus with all these options.

    So glad I found this channel! Been using Reaper to make beats for a year now, and I love it, but it's been a long learning process because I couldn't find tutorials like this one (I would have to watch FL or Ableton tutorials and think, 'how would reaper do this?'). I'm going to binge watch all your videos now hahaha. If you see this Wodzu, I really need a quick way to do full track outs for my beats? I cant work it out myself, other than individually rendering each track to a stem and into a folder one by one...

    • @WodzuBeats
      @WodzuBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Make sure you've checked out the ultimate guide, I've summed up all the basics in one video 😉 To make trackouts just simply go to Render window, select "selected tracks via master" in the first list, select the tracks you want to render out while holding ctrl, type "$track" as the filename (files will be named same as your tracks) and then "Render X files" at the bottom of the window

    • @FornaxBeats
      @FornaxBeats 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use a free plugin called Shortcircuit as my main sampler in Reaper (mostly for drums, but also for other things). It made my workflow faster. You can even drag and drop samples from Reaper timeline (hold CTRL + ALT and drag). It has many effects and modulation/routing capabilities, but those are optional. You can just load the samples and start making beats.

    • @WodzuBeats
      @WodzuBeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man! Thanks for the comment 🌊
      I've been using shortcircuit for years, but ReaSamplomatic is much more transparent and has faster workflow in terms of 808 samples. Shortcircuit is a great way to go tho, I've learnt about the plugin from DJ Pain One.

    I've been trying out other DAW's cause I feel like its time to move on from Fl-Studio, I've been using FL for a while but there are some issues that make it really annoying to record with MIDI and live audio via microphone or external audio sources like hardware synths, not to mention how much clutter is involved in Fl-Studio, I feel like so far, at least for chopping samples Reaper is pretty good in that drag and drop, chop and screwed style really easy.
    The only thing I don't like about Reaper is I feel like the stock effects and VST's are just well, very plain and minimalistic (in looks) for some people that might be prefect but for me I like all the eye candy, I know that might be very petty and stupid but that honestly just me FL-Studio has some of the most good looking effects ever I've never felt the need to replace any of them.

    • @WodzuBeats
      @WodzuBeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, you better buy it after that 600 days of trial usage! I think it's becoming more kind of a standard as a first DAW to just download and learn because of the unlocked trial period. I'm not gonna lie - I've bought it far more than after 60 days of usage 😁 Now as I have my license I'm 100% that was an investment worth every penny.

    Can you map a different pad for each Reasampleomatic5000 instance and record a full beat all at once?

    • @WodzuBeats
      @WodzuBeats  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, you can, but it's not the most intuitive way. Just set up different tracks with separate instances and type in the correct "note start" and "note end" values for your pads.
      The inconvenience of this solution is that every tracks has the same MIDI item with all the parts of the drumkit.
      A much better solution is to load a different sampler with multiple outputs. Poise is one of them and it's totally free now. I haven't tested it out yet so I don't know if you actually can make separate outs, but I'm planning to make a vid about it asap

    Lost me like 20 seconds into the menus. I have no packs or VSTs, no MIDI controller, I can't seem to drag the track sideways to be a sub-track like you did, the theme alone is showing a lot more buttons than I can see on my theme and I don't know where to find anything. Does everything need to be a waveform sample before you can use it in a piano roll? Cos thats what it seems like from the video, its not just straight up piano roll midi like in other DAWs. I haven't been confused by another program of any type anywhere near this much. There should honestly be interactive tutorials that highlight features within the actual program because of how incredibly complex it is, I understand the customization dynamic but you can't sell linux to everyone, and the inbuilt amp/cab simulators sound like complete crap, I use my amp that has an optional DI-connection (thank god) to get tones as plugging in through my 2i2 and trying to use virtual gear is mindnumbingly tedious, as for good tones you have to buy expensive neural packs and know how to import everything, which also depends on the DAW you use, again, there is fuck-all information out there. It seems anyone who does "informative" videos spends 20 minutes talking about stuff we wont even look at until we have at least a whole year's experience in recording, we have to sift out the basics from the flood of irrelevant information for people just starting out.

    Really shouldn't skip around. You're doing it anyway, just record it all and keep it all in your vid so people can see all of what you're doing, not 2-5 notes (or hits) and then skip to it being done. As a Reaper user myself, it can do so much more than this video is showing, but I suppose it's a start. Still, I'd show all of what you're doing, not skip around. Especially in the ReaSamplOmatic5000. Though that is probably a tutorial all of it's own. If you're going to do it though, just do it all and show it all. People would get more out of the vid. After all, Do you see Kenny skipping parts of what he does in his videos? No, they're made for the least knowledgeable as well as someone with some experience.
