I really appreciate this guide! I am a beginner when it comes to music making and as someone who tends to open a DAW, stare at it for 20 seconds and then give up, you really make the process of making music feel more approachable by suggesting a sort of process for creating a track. I also really appreciate that you at times mess up in the loop recording (on purpose or not) to then show the glueing feature and the possibility of recording multiple takes! Great video!
@@rogerrinkavage Basically, using the Renoise sequencer inside Reaper with any midi controller will do. (Reaper and Renoise working in tandem laying the bars and, sequences down with timelines and, transport controls in sync).
Wow, dude. Where so many tutorials would be a 10 minute video to cover one concept with ads, ad-reads, etc..., you've put them all into one comprehensive video with absolute gems of knowledge sprinkled in. The psuedomaster bus and reverb bus tips seem like real gamechangers. Just need to figure out the best way to fit Maschine into this workflow cause I lowkey hate the default of it, but love its organization. Can't wait to watch more of your stuff, thanks a ton.
This the best Reaper Beat making guide by far dude, you are really thorough in your explanations, and you really give basically everything you need to start making your own beats in one video, thank you so much and have a great day ✌
Bro you're a life saver. I've been using reaper for a month and Ican barely use it because I've changed from Logic Pro. Thank you for that theme for reaper.
I just wanted something to watch while eating dinner. BUT There's a load of Valuable Info in this, even if Beats aren't your final goal. Excellent choice of the AIR synths for Free/Low Budget 'VSTi's, well underrated instruments.
Wow! After having learned many basic tuts from Reaper Mania, who are also highly recommended, everything comes together in a real practical way with this ultimate beat making guide. Great work man! Love it!
I watched many videos about FL Studio and MPC Beats Software and tried to work on them, but I found them somewhat complicated. But Reaper seems simpler to me! I haven't tried it yet, but from watching the video it seems simpler!
Dope tutorial but just a piece of advise: when it comes to a tutorial for total beginners, you should probably stick with the default UI even if you prefer a different one, because to a noob they look totally different and it's quite confusing
Resamplomatic can run more than 1 sample at a time. If you click on the sample name (on the far left with the checkbox), you can copy/paste (control C, Control V) and set a different sample to that. You just need to change the Note Start/Note End of each sample to correspond with what the sound mapped to (depends on your midi controller). Reaper Mania has a good tutorial on this. It allows you to play all the drums at once. However I do like having each sample on a separate track. If you put multiple samples on one track, you can always explode them out to separate tracks later via midi channel.
I usually do in MIDI is take the overdub function on so it can re-record the midi. Also by choosing one recording, press ctrl+l to let the window disappear.
Excellent Tutorial. I'm considering moving from cakewalk to reaper so needed to know about drums. This is so above my head, I'm now happy Reaper can cope with my simple drumming demands. Thanks for this knowledgeable Video.
I was kinda worried if it's not just "orientalism" which sees all the eastern cultures as "Asian" and doesn't recognize particular ones, but everyone with a little humor will be chill 😜 Ta da da da dun dun dan dan dun 🎹
the big advantage of using reverb with sends is that you basically simulate how real multiple instruments would play in the same room and the combined sound would bounce around, as opposed to having individual reverb on each track (which would be like having each instrument play in its own room, alone, and then combine all the recordings). the verb bus is a much more natural way of hearing reverb :)
In place of the Pseudo-Master, I usually add a trim plugin as my first plugin on the master track. Actually I usually just throw ReaEQ on there and use the level control to adjust level into my Master track plugins. Saves a few second on routing each channel as you create it, lol. The Pseudo-Master does have some benefits, like routing to FX tracks perhaps? Thanks for the video man!
This was my first video when I came across your channel a few months ago. It really has helped me a lot with Reaper and inspire me to make my own tutorials.
Thank you so much for this. I'v been using FL Studio for producing for quite a long time and Reaper for everything else, as tracking, mixing and editing in FL is trash to say the least, it's only superior for sampling and midi editing to be honest. So I decided that it would be much better to just do everything in Reaper and your video was just super helpful. Thanks
Downloading reaper right now. Been an FL user for a while, but I’ve been looking for a place where the Mixing aspect was more like Logic and Pro Tools, but I could still make my beats on windows. Can’t wait To hop in
Reaper is my everyday tool for mixing commercial projects and it never disappointed me - it can handle enormous amounts of plugins without a hassle, but the fact you can pretty easily make beats in in makes it even more interesting 😀 Making beats in FL or Ableton may be a better and more easy to understand, but afterall I prefer to pay for one DAW and get it covered 😎
@@WodzuBeats glad you responded because I’m watching your other tutorial about sitala and I’m wondering can I use my computer keyboard as midi for sitala? I don’t have access to my actual midi controller right now

Air plugins are SO under-rated, especially Xpand! Probably used in more chart topping hits that any others since they shipped with PT back when nearly all big studios used it... They also have native support in Akai VIP, which allows you to search/scroll through presets of all the different synths, as if they were one... Great video btw, thanks for sharing!
Can't agree with them being underrated - those are one of the most affordable and popular plugins as you said 😀 I've been using xpand and hybrid as my main sound sources for the first few years of my electronic music production and I'll recommend them every time someone wants to start their music adventure. Cheers 👊
