This is the most informative and zero-bullshit music tutorial I've ever seen! Thank you so much, please keep making content like this. You are really good at it.
Hahahahaha 💙 - omg. Yes it takes a while and I spend so much time in things probably no one will notice but reading that you noticed that makes it so worth it!! Btw super excited for your return!
my friend for years staring down the high dive hesitating to take the leap into daw. I like your soft approach intros to Reaper which I recently purchased. Thank you. You are definitely reaching at least one person... me!
This is really inspiring - I love everything about Reaper, from the pricing to the minimalist approach to the open-ness of the environment EXCEPT the Midi editor. Your vid has made me rethink it and realise how cool it can be. Thanks!
This was INSANE! THANK U SO MUCH! One of the reasons I sometimes get lazy at creating new songs is jus imagining writing drum parts by hand (I don't like using pattern presets) now things are going to get a lot more fun! Thanks
Dude... You've just saved me so many hours. I just began writing in midi drums. Last week I spent about 4-5hrs writing some songs that easily could've been 30min not to mention the frustration. Life saver! Thank you so much!! Great editing and easy to follow steps. Instant subscribe! Cheers!
hey man, Im new to reaper, Ive get my hands dirty with the drum editing, and let me tell you, it can be quite exhausting to repeat same thing over and over again when editing like switching to subdivisions many many times to get desired pattern, NOW, I cant thank you enough with your tips and shortcut to make my workflow easier, you dont know how much it has ease me and save me from burnout of finishing a song . THANK YOU VERY MUCH BRO
Something helpful when you get new actions and shortcuts is to just put them in a custom toolbar, so that you can see them in a glance and be reminded they exist (and also see the keyboard shortcuts).
Every single video in this channel is a gem. I recognized so many things that usually annoy me that will be fixed by implementing these ideas, thanks a lot!
@@Reapertips I also copied most of your MIDI toolbar following what I could see in the video and got a few extra awesome functionalities, like that crazy Mordi script to find the key of selected notes, but there is still like half of the toolbar that I don't know what is. Mind sharing it?
I've just started messing around more within the midi editor in reaper and it still surprises me what I can do with it even now. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for this video, man! - I've been struggling with the midi drums workflow for years and always gave up. I finally got that a-ha! moment after going through your detailed instructions. Keep the vids coming!!
Alejandro, I just started using Reaper as a total newbie and your video thaught me so much. I subscribed immediately 😊. Thank you for sharing this information 👍🏻
Really like this. I haven't finished watching so apologies if it's covered later, but for selecting patterns, try using the Filter (default is press F). Then select a note in a measure, and im the filter tell it what pattern you want selected. You can then e.g. copy/cut/delete those or give them a consistent velocity.
Oh, man.. what a video! My first time on this channel, thanks a lot TH-cam's recommendation system lol The tips are pure gold, got me subscribed way before the end of the video. Thanks for sharing this, Alejandro! Life and time-saving! I think it would take me a lot of time to learn a setup like this alone.
Really great work, super useful tips. I am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of changes I would need to make to get to your workflow, but I have to say, the things you do are all actions I wish I had started applying from the beginning of my composing journey. But it's never too late improve, and this is a huge step forward. And yes, please make a follow-up, this was super useful. Thanks!
Ow - thank you! It's perfectly fine. Everyone's workflow is super different, which is very cool! I've met people that haven't changed a thing in REAPER and write waaaaay better drums than me hahaha. Thank you for being here and so cool that you look forward to more
Hey! We’re only months apart, I’m working towards career goals too and using TH-cam as a hobby/side goal. My “friends” have pressured me over the same thing, and even (especially) not kissing anyone. It’s not that I’ve never had the chance, it’s that I’ve never made the choice. Thanks for this video! Stay encouraged
The quality of this video is exceptional. Clear, concise, well-presented and edited...and a great showcase of some of Reaper's MIDI Editing capabilities as well! P.S. I am 100% yoinking that "velocity sensitivity" custom action. Brilliant.
Man, Reaper used to feel like an annoying co-worker I had to work with to keep a dream job… now feeling like a close friend id share my deepest secrets and wishes with! Your videos have opened my eyes to what an amazing DAW Reaper is. Thank you so much, very appreciated Alejandro!
I am a long time Reaper video, but this tips were really cool and useful + the video is super nice to watch thanks to your nice editing. Bravo! Just bought your ReaperTips to make a small donation - and I am sure I'll get nice ideas from this ebook!
@@Reapertips Ooh that was really nothing, I should have bumped the amount up... your videos are great and full of inspiration. Right now I am reorganizing my "Empty TCP menu" to have direct access to a more organized Track Template menu. Yours looks so clean :) But a question is: how/where can I specify icons to be displayed in front of each folder? Maybe it is a Mac only feature?
@@cedricsimonakafrozenjazz 💙 ooo I only just recently realized that you can add emojis to your folder and toolbar names haha, so I just find an emoji and paste it there. Helps a lot!

Hahaha 2:21 😂😂😂😂😂 💀 I am so grateful for this video! Badass. Really just cured so many headaches Thank you! 🤘 I left this comment less than halfway thru. It just keeps coming! So awesome
recently bought reaper, you have an amazing channel, subscribed right away. 😊 Can i ask you what stops you from switching to logic pro since you already went through the pain of buying a mac? the only thing that stopped me was not Logic's price but indeed having to buy a mac. I personally find very annoying having to install vst instruments for everything and everything has a different user interface. i know logic has a lot of integrated stock instruments so you can just download the thing and start composing right away, something you cannot do with reaper.
I swear to god reaper content creators are on another level sharing all these infos.
THIS IS FREAKING GOLD. Reaper owes you money.
