    In this video I'm discussing pros and cons of making beats in Cockos Reaper from a perspective of using it as my main DAW for making beats for the past few years. I think that Reaper is a great tool for making beats, but it's not a typical choice among music producers. Want to see more Reaper related videos and tutorials? Consider subscribing!

    This is the 3rd vid I've watched by you and liking your style a lot.
    Yes I'm totally new to Reaper, been DAWless and without a PC for over 10 years, but since buying a cheap Pentium 7 I'm 85% sold on it.
    Your vids are rapidly pushing it up past 90. Your comment about great community really done it for me and I feel it's because its cheap/free (I've still got my mask on lol, even though they do zero but allow me free evaluation for longer).
    I just want to say I dig your direct, no nonsense and un-patronising method of delivery. I also love your grasp of English, it sounds cool and most importantly I can understand you easily. Even when you use wrong terms it sounds good haha. I think its because we are both street-geek and er, speak the same language metaphorically speaking.
    So from Liverpool,
    Peace and Thanks-

    one of my farvorite features is the ability to record multiple sounds and playback sounds and samples on the same track. So i can record a vocal. Then just record another take on the same track at the same time and still play back the old one at the on top as im recording the new. Or drop in a sample and then drop in another sample on the same track and they both play back when overlapping. I might change it later when mixing, but when just building ideas this just mean i dont constantly have to make new tracks when ever i want to add or try stuff.

    Reaper has a Panning Function in the Midi Editor, I think the midi editor It's as good as FL, It has all the necessary fuctions that you need inside the Midi editor, you can change the mode below the screen from "Velocity" to whatever mode that you want, included "Panning" or "Pitch", and then, for instance you could change the Panning to each note of the Midi editor if you want!

    Bro your videos are amazing.. I've watched a couple of your videos in a row now and learned some things that I didn't know about or didn't use yet..
    Ofc there are other channels with tutorial videos that are also good but, the ones that you make like making beats and stuff like that are getting my attention more.
    Plus all the other videos are also nice to watch.
    I also want to say as a person who used flstudio for years, that this daw is just unbeatable in every aspect.. And guys like you make it even better by making tutorial videos so we can learn things.
    Keep up the good work!

    So I'm currently on the journey finding my new DAW. I was a heavy Pro Tools user, than Logic Pro X (bc of the stability) but ran out of options, it was very limited for me especially for the worklow when it comes to audio editing. Than Demo-ed Studio One, and it was not stable at all, some plugins were crashing which weren't at other DAWs. I alway make beats in Ableton, but for recording and mixing, I don't like it. Especially when it comes to multitrack recording and group editing. Not even Live 11 is there. So currently I'm on a journey with Reaper. I already spent 2 whole days customizing the actions, adding extensions and scripting it to the way I like it. I feel like I have to code my own DAW from an unusable template to get something that's usable in a professional environment. Pro Tools really sucked, and was time consuming in every way possible. I really love custom actions and the way you can fine-tune your workflow however you like it, but I just feel like I will keep using Logic Pro X till I'm at least 80% there with Reaper. It's not a DAW that's easy to switch to, more like a DAW that you build, get used to, and continue customizing probably forever :D

    Dzięki Dominik. Dostałeś właśnie suba i lajka. Serdecznie pozdrawiam.

    I was a Pro Tools user, but recently spent a while getting accustomed to Ableton 11 only to bang my head against the wall when trying to use it as a traditional DAW for recording and mixing audio like in PT or any traditional DAW. So I thought okay, I'll keep Live for my electronic music, but its SO slow when using any third party plugins. If I have 2or3 instances of Audio Lab open my 11th gen Core i5 chokes. Disappointing as I built a new rig since I thought it was my old PCs performance specs.
    I open these plugins in Reaper and no problem. At 64 samples I can run 4 instances of Audio Lab.

    Imo Ableton it's more a loop based production software than reaper which is more a full "tape style" recording type. Ableton live works pretty good when you use more loops than full track record. As soon you start using iVst along with full tracks....it get wonky. Reaper don't suffer from that. It can be both if i want. Funny got me wrong I love Ableton live.... But I see myself using more reaper just for the light CPU usage.

  • @Kevinschart
    @Kevinschart ปีที่แล้ว

    Reaper was my first DAW, but I eventually moved away from it. The flexibility was too much for me. I was spending more time trying to figure out work flows instead of making music. I would not recommend it for beginners, as I think beginners benefit from guidance not limitless possibilities. I think it is a good second DAW to tailor to your work flow AFTER you've actually developed one.
    But even with all that flexibility, there is something to be said about well thought out, well designed feature implementation. For example, you could duplicate the instrument rack from ableton with reaper groups, but the implementation will never be as smooth as what Ableton provides. The same goes for the ableton drum rack.

    • @paaao
      @paaao 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think you were just missing the more straightforward and simple methods. Making a bus, duplicating tracks, items, or entire buses with their effect chains is incredibly simple in reaper. Create a drum bus, create a midi bus of drums. Duplicate the master track of the bus. Done.
      I started out in fruity loops, then FL studio, then pro tools. Someone said to give reaper a try, and I did, reluctantly. I never went back. Played around with ableton and Cubase, but never found anything in either that was easier than reaper. Routing, tracking, and item settings in reaper make my splicing, editing, tempo changing and what not, so easy.
