How to Make a Kerfed Stained Plywood Subwoofer Box

- Alrighty, ladies and gentlemen, we are in for another episode of awesome car subwoofer box design, build and test! This time we are going to build a properly calculated enclosure for the subwoofer Category 7 CSW12-500D2 XMAX as we had previously extracted its electro-mechanical data (thiele-small parameters) as shown in this video • Category 7 CSW12-500D2...
A 700w RMS rated car subwoofer with dual 2 Ohm voice coils, designed and produced to throw a very long excursion on its rated power. The subwoofer is indeed throwing high excursions capable of producing frequencies below 25Hz in the -3 dB zone.

Love the sleek design with the wood stain..looks better than carpeted styles..different..i plan to make my self on..i only need 1 subwoofer for my car..not looking to shake the whole car..just need decent bass...keep up the good work
Thanks. Yes I prefer plywood because they weigh less and very nice to stain and top with polyurethane. The downside is, the cost per sheet of plywood. They come no cheap. 😥

Dang that box is only around 2.5 cubic feet.
I keep forgetting the box I just made is 3.5 cubic feet for my Ultimax 10.
Though mine is tuned to 19Hz with passive radiators so it needs a bigger box than the normal 32Hz tuning.

Hello. Kerfs are 10mm distance to each other and about 12-13 kerfs in able to bend a 3/4" mdf or plywood.

I know you have a video for the L shape ported box with a MASSIVE AUDIO 122 but can this same box be used for the MASSIVE AUDIO sub or does it need to be rebuilt to different specs? if it needs to be different can you make a box to that spec as I need something for my MASSIVE AUDIO sub. and Great Job on all your work I think you do very quality work.
Yes this box can be for any 12" subs with 700-1200w RMS.
@@chrclmnky not all subs work with the same box as another sub because their cubic inch requirements whether it be free air or sealed or band pass or ported just depends on the application this is why I was wondering if this would be good enough if the specs are correct for the massive audio 122 sub or not I actually have a pair of massive audio 124 subs and I was looking on the massiveaudio.com website and the specifics are not the same for each other. I like this design of box that you have created because the wind noise is less and the frequencies are better because they more or less roll out in a wider displacement than if it was just a straight port.
