Let me put it this way, in ancient times we as people had food security in form of cow. The milk and milk products the least made it possible to fill stomach. So we honor the motherly nature of cows.

I will tell you another reason why we give so much respect to cow. In Sanatan Dharma, there are 84 lakh species of life. After passing through these species, a soul gets a human form. And to attain salvation there is nothing better than a human body and according to the Puranas birth of a cow is the last birth after which the soul gets a human body. And all the gods and goddesses are present in the body of the cow, that is why probably the aura of the cow is the most powerful than all the things in this universe and touching the cow also reduces human anxiety. There are many other scientific reasons regarding cow, that is why we Sanatanis consider cow as mother

No bro, Yat (What) Dharati (Sustains) tat (that) Dharma (Dharma = Sustainability), it's how it is described in scriptures,
like how before birth itself sustainance of baby is planned by mothers body to provide milk like that our actions should be,
before doing anything right or wrong we should think if it sustains, thus in our culture lies which save once life is much well considered then truth which kills

When we drink milk from cows, it creates a connection similar to that of a mother and child. For most Hindus, eating beef is akin to harming one’s own mother. Additionally, cows are considered to be more emotionally and spiritually evolved, and our bodies may not be able to integrate beef properly.

How much strength does Shree Hanuman Ji have:
    In terms of strength
    10,000 elephants = 1 Diggaj Elephant(Elephant of Direction)
    10,000 Diggaj Elephants = 1 Airavata (Lord Indra's Elephant /Vehicle)
    10,000 Airavata = 1 Indra ( King of Gods)
10,000 Indra = strength in Hanuman Ji's Little Finger
Please watch the video playlist named: Hanuman Chalisa Meaning: Secrets Revealed by Om Dhumatkar on TH-cam. He explained about Shree Hanuman Ji and Hanuman Chalisa with stories in great detail. 2:56 The answer to the question "Why Hindus are so much attached towards Cows?", I would recommend you to live with Cows and Buffalos just like we are all familiar with the difference between Dogs and Cats. And please make a detailed documentary on it along with your observations and please share it with the world and make sure every kid in every school watches it.
My childhood was in a village of India in a farm where cows were an integral part of my mother's family. The morning routine starts very early in the break of dawn, our cow named Jamuna called my grandmother with a loud "moo", and my grandmother response to her "Yes, Jamuna I am coming, wait for 10 minutes." The cows are cleaned and feed with fresh grass that they can eat, while my grandma cleans her udders and puts a bucket to milk her with her hands. The cows know that she is giving milk and the milk is feeding our entire family and more. As a kid, my grandma would give me a modak sweet laddu and have me feed it to the cow. The cow excepted me as her own and gives more milk on that day. This would not happen with a buffalo. For a buffalo, it does not matter who the family member addition is or death in the family is or respond to any music. A cow will, respond to the music, emotions, love and affection in our family members, birth or death in the family. We had a calf which died and I remember my grandpa did not speak with anyone for 3 days and kept crying in his room. And, I have seen tears running down from eyes of cows when my grandpa died. Love is a two-way street and cow is our mother, and it is our Dharma (eternal duty) to protect our cows mother.
Rig Veda and Upanisads say "We are in debt of 7 mothers: Adi Mata (birth mother), Dhatri (nurse who feed & took care of us when we were small) cha Dhenu (and Cows), Pruthvi (Mother Earth), Brahmani, Guruomata (wife of Guru and Brahman) chiva Raj-mata (Queen/Princess mother)."
"Matru Devo Bhava (Respect your Mother as a God.)
Pitru Devo Bhava (Respect your Father as a God.)
Acharya Devo Bhava (Respect your Guru as a God.)
Atithi Devo Bhava (Respect your Guest as a God.)" The last one we should not the difference between an Atithi (Guest) and Aatithi / Aatanki (Terrorist).

3:04 the cow is like a mother who feeds us the milk for nourishment is the basic answer. But a few experiments say more, like a person gave small amount of poison to the cow every day for years but her milk was still pure. After a while a blue spot was formed around the cow's neck, as the poison got stopped and non affected other, just a mother would do for its child selflessly

Indias modern scientist now come to conclusion that hinduism is more than 15000 year old.
Recently scientist found the missing saraswati river in thar desert of india, according to them this river disappeared 15000 years before, and most of ancient civilization found in rajasthan, situated at the banks of saraswati 15000 year before. And this river is also flowing today under sand dunes. Which has the same characteristics like Himalayan river and ancient Saraswati river.
This river is mentioned in every hindu scripture, this scriptures also mention that how this river disappeared.
Thats why, sindhu civilaization is now called saraswati sindhu civilization. Which is approx 15000 year old ancient vedic civilization.
The finest and happy moment is that now indian companies started digging the water well and pumps in thar desert, which now providing saraswati river drinking water to desert people.
Government and companies started many projects to revive this ancient river.

Evidence of the end of Kaliyug in scriptures-
The full lifespan of a human is considered to be 100 years. But not all humans are able to enjoy this full lifespan. According to karma, the lifespan of every creature is less or more. Similarly, the duration of the Yugas should also be understood according to the state of religion at that time.
According to Surya Siddhanta, the age of the four Yugas is 12000 years. According to Manusmriti also, the age of the four Yugas is twelve years of the Gods (12 divine years) i.e. 12000 years of the Earth, after which the Khanda Pralaya takes place.
Sudama Sakha of the Lord himself, taking incarnation in the form of the great man Achyutananda Das Ji, has declared in 185000 texts that the enjoyment age of Kaliyug will be only 5000 years.
The center of Jagannath culture and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the Jagannath area of Odisha. Taking incarnation here, the Nitya Panchasakhas of the Lord have composed the Bhavishya Malika Granth on the orders of the Lord. Therefore, this is a warning to all devotees that they should not make the mistake of considering Bhavishya Malika as an ordinary article. There is nothing that is not described in this great text. The time of establishment of Dharma, the role of various countries, their origin, destruction and the beginning of Sat Yuga etc. are all mentioned in Bhavishya Malika.
Today, all devotees should come on the path of Dharma with determination and also get rid of this delusion very soon that the childhood of Kali Yuga is going on. Because all the scriptures are supporting the fact that Kali Yuga has ended.

cows, bulls hold a revered status in Hinduism due to a blend of spiritual, cultural, and practical reasons. The cow is seen as a symbol of nurturing, life, and non-violence, while the bull, especially as Nandi, embodies strength and devotion in connection to Lord Shiva. These animals are deeply integrated into the religious, ethical, and agrarian fabric of Hindu society, representing not only sustenance and livelihood but also spiritual and moral values.

The stories in the puranas are exemplifications of the subtle & abstract Truth as mentioned in the Upanishads. (eg. The first shloka (verse) of Bhagavad purana is extremely abstract in its meaning and the rest of the text is filled with stories that make this first shloka relatable to ordinary people. In this text, is also mentioned the concept of yugas, Vishnu's breath, Brahma's day etc.
Yugas also represent a seeker's journey - starting from
Delusion/ignorance/weakness of mind etc - Kaliyuga
Karma (actions needed to uplift oneself (Gita way)) - Dwapara yuga
Tapas (austerities, inner cleansing) - Treta yuga
Purity (alignment with the Highest) - Satya yuga
From that perspective - years of Satya yuga seem to go by faster than that in Kaliyuga (Einstein's theory of relativity - time goes by faster when we are happy)..
This cycle continues until one attains moksha (gets out of the cycle of life (samsara)
Once one sees from the "eye" of Vedanta (Truth as mentioned in the Gita/Upanishads) - everything makes sense as its all connected. But in order to develop that vision, one has to work within - hence the various yogas & paths are needed.

Cows milk is only milk accepted by all animals as a source of alternative . Weather bacteria , fungi , fishes , amphibians , reptiles , mammels birds . So cow is consider as mother ,as she can provide nutritions to all living beings . Moreover cowdung and urine contains good bacteria , which keeps diseases causing germs away . According to the latest study desi indian cows breeds has a specific aoora , after coming in contact with this aoora it relaxes and calms our mind down . She provides milk and the milk and milk products contributes a major portion of protein in vegetarians diet . Infact it's the only animal derived product consumed by most of the vegetarians in past times , even still today . Cows are very humble and calm animals and easy to pet and take care of .cowdungs after sundrying also used as source of fuel for cooking food and also used in many rituals and yadnyas . Indian society was agricultural based so lots of fodder was available on large scale , so people must have some animal which will eat this fodder & Cows are the best for this as they take what is excess and give what is required in return . All byproducts of cows are used , like cowdungs for cooking , rituals , manure , cows urine (gomutra ) as a medicine indicated in many conditions in ayurveda and cows milk and milk byproducts . So each and every part is used and so she is consider sacred than any other animal in Hindu culture .

Any while no one came to her rescue, she prayed Shree Krishna Bhagwan to save her honor, and so he made sure she does not get stripped with cloths. The Pandava brothers along with Draupadi were excited to forest for 13 years, and once they returned back, Duryodhan refused to give a land the size of the tip of a needle on this planet to the Pandava brothers. 2. It is said that in different parts of the cow's body god resides.
    3. During the churning of the cosmic sea one cow appeared named Kamdhenu which is used to grant every wish you asked with a pure heart.
    4. In the past, people used cow's dried dung to cook their food as well as wet dung to keep insects out of their Houses as well as it works as fertilizer. So in the bigger picture it was useful to fill an empty stomach as well as to protect from the dangerous insect like a snake etc just like a mother.
    5. In Hinduism cows are a symbol of purity.

We respect cows because 1.)we respect all animals because they all have conscience and 2.) because cows and diary products have played a huge role in the indian civilization.
Ancient Indian civilization was a agricultural civilization (due to the large availability of fertile lands because of the Indus river system and other river systems across India) meaning we primarily focused on agriculture and animal raising and rearing instead of hunting. Cows have thus been immensely important for the civilization as they served not only as milk providers(milk and dairy products have been a huge part of our diet since ancient times) but also as labour force required to maintain the farm lands.
Along with this, cows have also played a huge role in hindu legends, infact according to the legends "Nandi" ,one of main servents/attendees and the main mode of transport of lord Shiva, is also a cow.
Hence why hindus treat animals but especially cows with so much respect and love.

Lord Vishnu was born as Krishna in the Dwapar Yug and grew up in a family of milkmen and milkmaids. Cows were the main source of income for them and Krishna was a cow herder, so naturally cows have a close connection to our God. That's why they are worshipped along with Krishna.

The Mahabharat and the Bhagavad Gita is to have taken place at the end of the Dwapar Yug, more specifically 36 years before the end of Dwapar Yug. It has been theorized and proven by celestial and terrestrial occurrences that the Kurukshetra war (the war taken place in the Bhagavad Gita) had taken place 5561 BCE (or 7,585 years ago) which was explained by Nilesh Oak. Kali Yug was said to have begun after Shri Krishna's death which was 36 years after the Kurukshetra war according to the Bhagavad Puran I'm pretty sure (or 5,525 BCE). Forgive me if i've made a mistake in my claims but this has come from Nilesh Oak and his findings and work.

Cows are important to village life in India. They were used to plow the field, and get milk the milk is processed into all kinds of products like paneer(cheese?). When a calf is born the calf can be sold for extra income. A farmer cannot live without his cows, its ability to sustain the village and family life is immense. Cows are also extremely emotional and affectionate, so a farmer and a cow have a real relationship. When the farmer's son/daughter grows up. They grow up drinking the milk of that cow. Both the cow and the child know this. Hence over a period of time, the reverence/respect to cows became religious.

Cows give us milk and with milk we can make sub milk products and bulls are used to Powell the fields. That's why they are an important part of Indian culture and are considered as scared animals.

Even during marriage or paying penalty, cows were given as a price... That's why cow has become so important part of Indian culture... And with time cows even became a part of Indian religion due to its high value and historical relationship with the animal.

YOUR ANSWER!!! Brahma had 4 sons Satyuga, Tretayug, Dwaparyug and Kaliyug. Brahma told them all that the people entering Hell and Heaven should be equal. The first three sons didn't pay much heed to their dad. Their was a lot of devotion and good work during their three periods. Hence unequal distribution of good work(karm). The fourth son Kaliyuga was more obedient to his father and hence wanted to increase the bad work to equal the number of people who enter heaven and hell.

Hindus hold cows in high reverence due to a combination of religious, cultural, and practical reasons. The veneration of cows is deeply rooted in Hindu scriptures, philosophy, and historical context. Here are the significant reasons for this attachment, with references from various shastras and other religious texts:
    1. Religious Significance in Hindu Scriptures
Vedas: The Rigveda, one of the oldest Hindu scriptures, contains numerous hymns that mention cows as symbols of wealth, prosperity, and life. In fact, the cow is often associated with the Earth, symbolizing fertility and abundance. For instance:
Rigveda (10.87.16) describes cows as sacred beings, stating, "Those who kill the cows and other animals are sinners and will be punished by the Supreme Lord."
Atharvaveda (10.10.34) describes the cow as "aghnya," meaning “not to be killed,” underlining its sanctity and inviolability.
Manusmriti: This ancient text of law and conduct highlights the sanctity of the cow, encouraging respect and care towards it:
Manusmriti 4.162 encourages the feeding and protecting of cows as a pious duty.
Mahabharata: In the Anushasana Parva of the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna states, “The cow is my mother; and I am her son. Those who torment cows or bring harm to them will receive severe punishment.” This statement shows the divine importance attributed to cows.
Bhagavad Gita: In the Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 18, Verse 44), Krishna describes the cow as part of the "Goraksha" (protection of cows), which is the duty of the farming and trading class. Krishna Himself was raised as a cowherd, emphasizing His love and compassion towards cows and the special role cows play in His devotees' lives.
    2. Association with Hindu Deities
Lord Krishna: Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, is often depicted as a “Gopala” or “Govinda,” meaning "protector of cows." His childhood spent as a cowherd deeply associates Him with cows, which His devotees take as a sign of their divine importance.
Lord Shiva: Nandi, the sacred bull, serves as Lord Shiva’s vehicle. Nandi is worshipped across Shiva temples, and bulls hold sacred status among Shaivites.
Goddess Kamadhenu: Known as the divine, wish-fulfilling cow, Kamadhenu is revered as a goddess in Hindu texts. She is believed to fulfill the desires of those who worship her, symbolizing the nurturing nature of the cow.
    3. Symbol of Motherhood and Nurturing Qualities
The cow is often called "Gau Mata" or "Mother Cow" in Hindu culture. This is due to her nurturing nature and the belief that she provides essential nourishment through milk, much like a mother sustains her children.
Atharvaveda (12.4.38) states, "The cow, our mother, has come to nourish us, and we respect her with all our hearts."
    4. Cultural and Societal Importance
Agricultural Dependency: In traditional agrarian society, cows provided milk, plowing support, and manure, essential for agriculture and daily life. Even after their working life, cows continue to give back to society through by-products used for fuel, manure, and religious purposes.
Sustainability: Cow dung and urine have been used for centuries in Hindu culture for their natural benefits. Cow dung is used as a fertilizer and a disinfectant for homes, while cow urine is seen as having medicinal properties.
    5. Moral and Ethical Considerations in Hindu Philosophy
Ahimsa (Non-Violence): Hinduism upholds the principle of Ahimsa, which emphasizes non-violence towards all living beings. The protection of cows, as peaceful and non-threatening creatures, aligns with this principle.
Compassion and Dharma: Protecting cows and other animals is part of one’s dharma, or righteous duty. Respect for the cow is seen as a symbol of the broader Hindu belief in living harmoniously with nature.
    6. Ritualistic and Spiritual Significance
Panchagavya: Derived from cows, panchagavya (a blend of cow milk, yogurt, ghee, urine, and dung) is used in Hindu rituals for its purifying qualities. It is believed that these five products from cows purify the body and the spirit, making them essential for many ceremonies and acts of worship.
Tithing and Charity: Donating cows is seen as a highly meritorious act in Hinduism. Religious scriptures mention that gifting a cow (Go-dan) brings spiritual benefits and blessings to the giver.
    7. Spiritual Symbolism
Vedic Symbol of the Cosmos: In some interpretations, the four legs of the cow represent the four Vedas, and her udders are said to symbolize the four “purusharthas” (goals of life): Dharma (duty), Artha (prosperity), Kama (desire), and Moksha (liberation).
Connection to the Earth: The cow is also seen as representing Mother Earth herself. Her nurturing nature is considered reflective of the Earth’s fertility and ability to sustain life, reinforcing the view of the cow as a sacred, life-giving force.
    Summary
The cow is revered in Hindu culture and religion because of its association with sacred figures like Krishna and Shiva, its nurturing and selfless qualities, and its essential role in society. Hindu texts like the Vedas, Manusmriti, and Mahabharata give scriptural backing to the cow's sacred status, encouraging Hindus to treat it with respect and reverence. This veneration is not only religious but reflects Hindu ethics of ahimsa, compassion, and sustainable living, which are key aspects of Hindu philosophy.

There are various reasons why Cows are sacred and respected in Hinduism-
1 - As most people said here, Hindus primarily prefer milk of Cows and Buffaloes. Since humankind, milk is generally associated with the nurturer i.e mother. Hence, we considered them in such high regard and don't wish to harm them.
    2. Various Hindu texts have revered cows as holy and one of the gifts to humankind by the gods.
    3. Cows are associated with Krishna (he grew raising cattle and caring for them as per stories) - The supreme god, hence inflicting harm to them is a big no.
    4. This reason I feel my logical mind goes to - Indian subcontinent has always been a fertile land since ages and cattle like cows, buffaloes and bulls have been connected to agriculture since humankind started here. Unlike Other regions in the world where historically agriculture was not widespread, Most of Indian subcontinent has been involved in agriculture. Because of it, indigenous people have been depended on them for growing food. Hence harming them for food make no sense. Also, there has been little incentive for eating meat since food was easily available through agriculture.

Bhim did this, and Duryodhan and Bhim were always use to fight since childhood, where Duryodhan tied to kill Bhim twice, once unsuccessful and the second time successfully and threw him in the River, were the Naga people saw this and revive Bhim.

Cows are considered one of the 7 mothers according to Vedic Scriptures:
    ātma-mātā guroḥ patnī
    brāhmaṇī rāja-patnikā
    dhenur dhātrī tathā pṛthvī
    saptaitā mātaraḥ smṛtāḥ
    TRANSLATION
These mothers are the original mother, the wife of the teacher or spiritual master, the wife of a brāhmaṇa, the king's wife, the cow, the nurse and the earth.
[Verse by Cāṇakya Paṇḍita, minister of Chadragupta Maurya, of the Mauryan Empire (350 BC -- 295 BC)].
Also, today, if we see, science is proving that meat consumption, ie, cattle raising for the purpose of meat consumption is one of the major contributors in climate change, and even in this, beef is being considered as the major contributor. For thousands and thousands of years our scriptures have spoken that unrestricted meat consumption on a large scale can cause pestilence, and climate crisis...... And since the Vedic culture has predominantly been an agricultural civilisation, the cow is considered of utmost importance because of its contributions in agriculture and providing of milk. From a higher spiritual perspective, too, Vedic scriptures say that all the Gods and Goddesses rside within the cow, and that the cow's next birth is that of a human. Whilst, all species of life are considered equally sacred and divine as a small spiritual spark of the Divine, cows have a special emphasis due to these above mentioned reasons. So much so, that Lord Kṛṣṇa says in the Bhagavad Gītā [18.44]: "Farming, cow protection and business are the natural work for the vaiśyas, and for the śūdras there are labor and service to others."
Also, Vishnu Purana 1.19.65 says this: "Krishna is the supreme friend of the cowherd men and the cows."

Hi. So the simplest answer to why Hinduism - sanathana dharma has this huge affinity towards cows is because of the antiquity of agriculture in our history. Although there is no evidence as of today which shows that agriculture existed in ancient India at the same time or probably even before mesopotamia, Indian history says that it did from a very very ancient time. And in this land, the main tool for operating agriculture was cattle. And in cattle, the one who keeps the cattle going from generation to generation is the cow (female who gives birth to the next generation). Also, the various products obtained from cows are very useful in multiple fronts of that ancient life style. Which is why, in brief, Hinduism has such great reverence towards cows. But in reality, this reverence extends to bulls, ox, buffaloes and practically all animals, even if we consume them.
