I've just bought my last Audi .. what you say about the standard of materials and finish is very true. They are scrimping in comparison to previous model generations and have become cheap and tacky while charging even more for the cars. Diesel-gate fines are hitting home.
I really don't understand a lot of the comments already made. Any who, really nice and professional presentation again on a car i think is really fantastic. Yes it's expensive but if you want real comfort and quiet with excellent range and fast charging capability with AWD options. I agree with you, little to fault and if you can afford it, buy it.
"if you want real comfort and quiet with excellent range and fast charging capability with AWD options" except its not that comfortable for that price (air suspension missing), has drum brakes in the rear (on a luxury car in 2021, its inconceivable but being sold as some sort of smart engineering instead of what it really is; cost cutting) and it has SLOW charging capabilities (nearly 1 hour for an 80% charge at a charging station; other automaker's cars are in the 15-25 minutes range). The range will be poor in winter if your country has a proper one (around 200km for the AWD versions). The Q4 is old technology from around 2-3 years ago. Audi is holding back current-day tech for the Q6 and above. The Q4 is lipstick on a pig (the pig being the iD4).
Audi, BMW, Mercedes & Porsche have always added a premium to the price for their badge and image…….and don’t seem to have any problem selling oodles of their cars
Great video. Ginny is brilliant. Looking forward to Tomi's video on the tech, too. I'm a big fan of the Augmented HUD. It's also in the Skoda Enyaq which is on my shortlist as my next EV. Incidentally, doesn't the new BMW iNext have a squircle?
Thanks for the review, I really really like the look of the Q4 Etron, think it's a handsome sporty dynamic (maybe not the most dynamic) looking SUV. With a lovely looking interior, even if they have cost cut a bit the have done it in a very Audi way 😉
I’m thinking about going EV for a company car and the funny thing is the Q4 is actually considerably cheaper to lease than an Enyaq, despite it being 5-10k more on list price. Who’d have thought that an Audi for less than a Skoda? How times have changed!
@@jonpriston8784 fingers crossed. The chip shortage is impacting deliveries like crazy... a Range rover dealership told me I would have to wait 8 month if I ordered today! ... going to Audi tomorrow.
The interior quality, tech and Audi brand count for a lot. But we’ll be looking at the two next to each other in a video soon. Thanks for your support! Ginny
I drove the Skods Enyaq a day after driving the Q4 and i'd buy the Enyaq tbh only downside with the skoda was the door cards. For the saving made not the end of the world.
Personally the Skoda Enyaq give you more luggage space, similar interior features and a lower sticker price. This Audi is great, but that sticker price is a detractor... Unfortunately!
Sadly for Audi I’ve cancelled the order I had for a Q4 as it kept getting delayed and delayed. Ordered October 21, initial delivery estimate was February 22, then March, then June and now March 2023. Got to the point where I didn’t believe anything they told me so cancelled. Now had a complete re-think and instead of getting a family SUV EV we’re going for a Peugeot e208 and replacing our small car instead. Pity but 17 months for delivery - come on Audi!
Thanks for the review, Ginny - super work, as always. I had high hopes for the interior quality on this one - certainly in comparison to the iD4 and Enyaq, at least - and it mostly seems to pull it off... :-)
Nice review! Q4 way better exterior, driving and interior than siblings enyaq and id4 in my opinion but of course - if you dont need that in your life - just buy the base enyaq, id4 or even better ioniq 5 ☺️
lowest spec is a little short on range but ok as a second runabout (if you’re buying £40k cars as city cars). 40 seems sweet spot. If that infotainment is proper Audi and not a reskinned VW one thats already a big improvement over the ID4/Enyaq.
The top spec Vorsprung which has all the good stuff like adaptive dampers and real leather seats costs more than my current Lexus RX450H Takumi edition which has even more kit and is a much bigger car. That just shows how wrong the electric car pricing is. The necessary heat pump is still an almost £1,000 option even on Vorsprung. Good to see separate HVAC controls but who thought touch sensitive controls on the steering wheel was a good idea? Can the touch sensitive operation be disabled in the menus or by the dealer?
It was called quartic. Derided at the time and yet elements of it have cropped up increasingly on modern cars. Maybe the Allegro was ahead of its time 🤔.
Good video! I like the looks and the efficiency. The interior is much better than the VW/Skoda ones (REAL BUTTONS). Yeah, it's crazy expensive, but so is an Audi Q3 petrol/diesel. I think this is much better than that.
being the premium brand of VW group, they should have made a little effort to offer something more in the drive train, not just a copy and paste. For instance, it is a shame they don't offer the etron suv drivetrain in a more compact and efficient vehicle. It would be just great
The powertrain is brilliant. It’s just down tuned, I guess it’s so they don’t take sales off ice models. In the Cupra Born there is an option on the RWD car to boost 0-60 to 6 seconds (I’m expecting an OTA paid performance upgrade like Tesla do with the LR Model 3). Charging is rumoured to be being upped to 175kw’s (again maybe you will have to pay for it).
Audi really need to step up their interior quality they’re falling behind really rapidly. Design maybe good but in the last year quality is not so good.
Most new VW products look nice in the brochure or on film but not so nice in the showroom (too much hard plastic and missing trim). Thank deiselgate for that I think.
@@jonpetter8921 For now. It is not just Tesla coming with Berlin, But also some excellent and cheaper models from China are already being imported into Norway, Nio, Xpeng, BYD, GAC Li Auto etc etc. Not all will be successful, but there are some excellent value for money in that range
I like this Q4, and its sister Enyaq, more than their sibling ID.4. But… I have a pet peeve against front-to-back cup holders. Just put them side-by-side, automakers! On the other hand, I like that they all display efficiency as mi/kWh; for years I've been begging Tesla to give us that optional setting instead of its Wh/mi. Can you imagine a gas car's display showing ounces/mi of gasoline instead of mpg? Finally, I still can't believe that Audi would use that name for its EVs, given what étron means in French. 100th comment - dump it when the warranty runs out - cost to fix a major electrical component breaks will be horrendous and no doubt you will not be able to buy that tiny part that breaks with out a complete assembly - Agree?
Sqircle 😂 I think the car gets very expensive when you add things. Also there is quite a bit of shiny ✨ plastic in the cabin that scratch easily and flickers when driving. Thanks

I recently drove 350 miles in my 9 year old BMW 520d SE. That's more than any of those Audis could have managed without refuelling. Driving was mostly on motorway at roughly 120kmh most of the way.
