    Volkswagen ID.4: www.electrifying.com/reviews/...
    The Audi Q4 e-tron, ŠKODA Enyaq iV and Volkswagen ID.4 have one thing in common - they're triplets! All three are based on the same mechanical underpinnings and feature identical battery packs and motors. The only thing that differentiates them is the bits you can see - the bodies, the interiors, and of course, the price...
    Given that they all share their hidden (and most important) bits, are you better off going for the cheapest of the three - the ŠKODA Enyaq - or does splashing the cash on the Audi get you a better car? Or should you opt for the middle option and get the best of both worlds with the Volkswagen ID.4?
    Join Wookie as he takes a close look at all three and weighs up the pros and cons of each contender. Which is best? The result might come as a surprise...

    From the time of its launch, the Skoda Enyak has proven to be the outstanding option! Have you seen the interior in Eco-suite trim? Granted the dashboard is behind in comparison to the Audi, but that's about it, as far as interior goes!

    I have an Enyaq SportLine 80x, very happy with it. The extra motor gives another 65hp and an improvement in overall acceleration. I recently took it to Goodwood for the FoS, a round trip of 1200miles 2up and with a load of camping gear.
    Absolutely proved that long distance RV travel isn’t an issue in an EV.

    I tested all 3 (and more) and ordered the Enyak as well in the end.
    Not only is it better value, it also has the biggest luggage capacity, overall interior space feels amazing and it has more actual buttons (instead of touch-activated crap).
    All in all, for a family vehicle, even compared to non EV models, it's an amazing choice. 🤩

    Last autumn we test drove a bunch of different EVs, including ID.4 and Enyaq back to back and then Enyaq looked and felt better of the two, even though the ID.4 was the AWD GTX variant, and the Enyaq "only" the RWD variant. Q4 we didn't even bother to test drive, knowing it was basically the same as the other two, but a lot more expensive. Also test drove the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq5, Mustang Mach-e and even Tesla Model Y, but... We chose the Enyaq, all in all the best for our needs and usage. Now 6 months of Enyaq ownership later, no regrets. 😊

    Nice review! I actually had all three of these on my company car list last year, and went for the Skoda Enyaq 80 (with 21” wheels like the review model). I dismissed the iD4 because the interior looked and felt cheap, and dismissed the Q4 because it had a smaller battery and no toys for the budget I was given (with the Skoda, I was able to get a/c and heated seats in the back for the kids, as well as blind spot assistance and adaptive cruise control. The Enyaq was my clear winner and 9 months on since I got it, I don’t regret my choice at all !

      Before retirement, I had “company cars” for many years; for the last 15, I was either MD or owner and therefore, not confined to any list. I think I had an ego then which influenced my choice of cars - Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover. My competitiveness disappeared after retirement and so, no need for an ego brand. We’ve just placed an order for the ENYAQ (hopefully, I will get it before I retire from driving). Our criteria was electric, followed by space (2 dogs that go everywhere with us), noise level, perceived interior design and, finally, brand as almost irrelevant.
      10 years ago, if I had to make a choice then based upon my current criteria, I would have bought the Audi just because of the badge.

      Just bought the Enyaq 60 RWD new for about £31,5K equivalent here in Norway, the last one in Norway after a very successful now sold out offer. The Norwegian kroner has been so weak 13.4 to the pound last month, and by sheer chance I had just shifted some bank savings over to Norway…. Big thanks to Elon Musk who dropped the Tesla prices by 20% in January, and kicked off a price war! Now I wonder what the missus will say? Alex in the mountains. Thank you all for the comments and to Electrifying for a class vlog.

    Just to clarify: You said you thought the Audi was quieter than the Volkswagen. You measured desibel on your phone, and desibel is the same as the volume knob. What you are experiencing is the noise, different tones, notes or frequencies experienced in the car. They can be lower in desibel but higher or lower in frequency thus you experience a noisier cabin but as loud as before. Really you should try to find an app analyzing the audio spectrum. That could help you give a better visual aid in explaining your experience.

    Good review!! I had a lease Enyaq 80iv in 2022. After retiring and the end of the lease my choice for a new private car was decided; an Enyaq! My wife protested. Too big was her comment. After a series of testing other electric cars (VW, Kia, Hyundai and Polar) she was convinced. That I was right :). This month I got my new Enyaq 80iv and we’re both happy! Our choice was based on room inside, good seats, driving with pleasure, complete in- and exterior, enough space in the booth, a decent price and practical use. My advice if you are looking for that: try the Enyaq ;)

    I’ve had my Q4 E-Tron 40 since November. I went for the S-Line model ordered through my work, and cost wise the monthly payments were virtually identical between the Q4, Enyaq 80 and ID4 with less the £10 between them. We ruled out the ID4 due to the buggy touchscreen and HVAC controls. The Enyaq and Q4 were harder to choose between. Enyaq has a bigger boot and larger touchscreen. Audi looks better (to me), has normal HVAC buttons and the virtual cockpit is great. Ultimately we went with the Q4 as I was able to get it quicker. Both are great cars, but I’m not convinced the ID4 is.

    Skoda everyday, it is far better quality inside 👌 better design outside for space too, however unless in Sportline guise I think it's the one that looks most MPV like rather SUV. Not that that's a bad thing, just an observation.
    I think VW really has allowed their cost cutting to impact on the EV's in a bad way, their build quality inside and out is just not the same as say the period of cars when the Golf 7.5 was the quality indicator for all brands. Although there are still loads of the ID'S around I think that people expect better and are starting to look past the badge now, let's not even mention that clichy non practical infotainment system.

That's only if the solar panels don't do the job. I can't believe it's taken me this long to make the change.

    It's funny that the very latest Skodas, the Octavia IV and the Enyaq, feel more premium and imo are more attractive looking than their VW counterparts, the Golf 8 and the ID.4. And all this whilst staying true to their traditional concept of being cheaper and more practical than their VW counterparts, although admittedly that price gap has narrowed over the years.

    • @sarangsp1591
      @sarangsp1591 ปีที่แล้ว

      I beg to differ. The new Skodas are absolutely horrendous looking vehicles, be it the Enyaq, Octavia, Fabia all of 'em look absolutely bad. VW has always been the better one when it comes to designs. But yes, the interiors of VW have been a major let-down recently. They need to up their quality levels.

    • @GKBehindTheWheel
      @GKBehindTheWheel ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sarangsp1591 Tradtionally VW models have had sharper and more attractive designs than their Skoda counterparts, especially Golf 7 > Octavia 3 and Polo 5 > Fabia 2.
      However, that's just not true today. The Golf 8 has this melted looking front end whereas the Octavia is sharper and more agressive looking. Looks are subjective but in this particular case, the vast majority of people are going to side with me. The Golf 8 has been heavily criticized whereas the Octavia has received a lot of praise.
      It's not quite as unanimous but the Fabia 4 just looks a lot aggressive and premium than the Polo 6 facelift.

    • @sarangsp1591
      @sarangsp1591 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GKBehindTheWheel That's true now also. The new Octavia's droopy design appeals to really a less number of people. Golf looks miles ahead in terms of design. Octavia mk3.5 is the best looking Octavia till date. And Fabia looks absolutely bad, I don't know how you find it more premium than Polo. Polo's sleek design language appeals more to people than Fabia's stubby weird design.

    One thing left out here, the cup holders on the Skoda are tiny. You can’t get any decent sized vessel in them. I drove them all and agree the Skoda feels like the best. It’s not actually cheaper than the VW though by the time you spec them similarly, more comes as standard on the VW that you have to pay extra for on the Skoda. Was looking for a company car last month and the ID4 was the only one of the three with the big battery that would fit the allowed budget. (Un)fortunately they increased the leasing price on the day I wanted to place my order and I was no longer able to order it. I did prefer its looks over the Skoda though but it did feel cheap on the inside where the Skoda felt a lot more premium imo. The Q4 could only be delivered in late '23 or '24 so it was immediately out of the picture, it was also a lot more expensive even without any options added.
    Eventually I went with the Volvo XC40 Recharge, worse WLTP but a lot more premium and a lot more options in the same budget (pretty much full option). It also looks pretty sweet even though it doesn't look like an EV at all but it has a great infotainment system running on AAOS, waaaaay better than the laggy one of the VW.

    I am German and owned in 45+ years roundabout 30 cars. My last piston car now is an Ateca 4drive 190hp tdi. The next one will be a Kia EV. When it comes to facts and real comparison of German and Korean cars, VW, Audi and Skoda are heavy, expensive and more power consuming comparing to kia's. So because they are less effectiv they had to load faster and need bigger Batteries. People f. e. tends to look at Audi Batch always as they have got the Reputation for their piston cars to be the finer produced car. And Audi therefore calls the higher prize. But in Times of electric cars Audi, VW and Skoda have to earn the Reputation newly. So is it worth to pay 10-15 grand or more extra for These EVs?! I think no, so I ordered a new Kia which gives me the same driving experience as a ID4, takes just 16 kwh on 100km, has a much longer 7y warranty, has a frunk for a greasy Loading cable on a rainy Day plus Working gloves , has a Vehicle2Grid or VtL functionality, a really faster and overall better assistant software than VW and is really cheaper after all. At the Moment german car producer don't sell price worthy EV. Everything is getting more and more expensive, so u have to look critical what u get for the money and if it keeps his worth and function after some years of usage. If you buy an Audi, BMW or Mercedes instead, you might wish to show your next door neighbors, "look guys, I am the one of us who has much more money than u". It's always that silly reason to have them, not from a cool comparison of all cars you can have for the purpose needed. So stop drum on plastics insider the car or slam doors to prove quality of them. We won't buy drumsets instead of electric cars.
    It will be a long way for German car makers to get back to the top of reliability, consumption and priceworthyness.
    Excuse me for my unprofessionell faulty English.

    Here in the netherlands. between an id4 and an enyaq. say you spec them with the same base color. with the big battery and 201 hp engine. and similar options. the Enyaq comes out 6k more expensive.

    I have the Enyaq, perfect price point, great space, toys and it's a great interior to drive in. Feels smaller than it is and less blobby than either Audi or VW. (It's not slow either, don't know what you were basing that opinion on.) For me, VW messed up with the interior of the ID range. I've had a good few VW's and it would have been on the list but yuk. Tried Hyundai and Kia also and while the tech was lovely neither worked for me, this time round.

    with the advent of EVS, the tide has changed. I would never have bought a Kia or Hyundai ice product but their electric cars are really good. The mainstream carmakers are no longer n charge and people are very willing to accept a startup like they never were with a petrol-engined car unless in tiny numbers and bespoke

    I was torn between enyaq and EV6 for company car, similar range, similar storage, EV6 has better charging capacity but at the end of the day it came down to I’d rather see the Kia sat on the drive than the enyaq. My issue with all three of the cars you feature is they look like their ICE stable mates, an EV offers a fundamentally different experience so why look like a conventional brand aesthetic? At least VW didn’t do a fake grille like Audi and Skoda, however it still looks golf-ish

    Test drove all 3 in 2021 and ordered a Q4 because as a company car it was actually the cheapest in the same spec. However would have had the Skoda if it was my own money. All good cars but the Audi for less money (for me) was the best.
    Didn’t get the Audi in the end - 18 months waiting list anyone? Eventually downsized and got a Peugeot e208 last year to use as our smaller car and love it. Now that Tesla Model Y is less than all of them (spec for spec) I’d have the Tesla if I go for a family-sized car next time.

    I’m more influenced by price and what I get for my money in terms of spec. Hence why I put my money down in the base spec ID.4. Has all the kit and space I would ever need but way cheaper than the Audi and the Skoda. You have to spec the these up to get what comes on the base spec ID.4. I’ve done well only paying £31k after the grant last December. Still awaiting delivery though as we all know there’s a massive backlog of orders.

  • @850bimmer

    I ordered the Enyaq VRS Coupe, after more than 20 years with BMW.
    I found the ID5 to be too minimalistic inside and just plain boring on the outside.
    The Q4 e-tron Coupe, well think Audi fell in the "oversized grill" trap along with new BMW's, I find the front end completely disproportionate, also it is smaller as pointed out. While the Audi may have better interior build quality and materials, it's also more expensive. The Enyaq interior is better designed and the 13" screen is a winner.
    The Enyaq came on top as the better package in my assessment.
    And you are right, after 20 years with BMW's, I've ordered a Skoda...... If someone told me that 5 years ago I would have slapped them and called them an idiot. The package do outweigh the branding these days.

    Drove the id4 and hated it, tiny drivers display, awful infotainment screen and touch sensitive climate controls are impossible to use on the move and vw didn't even make the climate controls backlit for night driving. The window buttons, haptic steering wheel things just adds to how much I hated this car

    People now understand that paying for top brands doesn’t equal best in class, I saw a JD power survey and owners rated their own cars. The top 3 car brands for most unreliable were Mercedes, Audi, BMW, this was partly down to the extra electronics on board, but goes to show Hyundai, Kia Skoda etc have been making great cars for years and years in petrol/diesel guises and these manufacturers are now leading the electric market.

    • @Iceeeen
      @Iceeeen ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Skoda has the same annoying electronics with the same stupid touch screen as the audi/vw. I've been using a Enyaq a bit at work to test load balancing for bigger scale ac charging. My good is the software buggy and sloooooooooooow. I've seen so many different errors and freeze ups it would drive me mad having to live with it and the app belongs in the bin. I daily a old 500e myself for the moment that everyone talk crap about because its a compliance car but at least I haven't come across a single bug yet there. (the best is there is no stupid sport button. It's the same all the time, fun :) ) But yes for combustion car Skoda was enormous value for money, especially the first "vw" Octavia from 98 was sick for what it cost

After researching various cars, I've come to the conclusion that the Enyaq is the best for the money. Especially now they've brought out the 85 Edition model. Bigger battery abd similar specs to the Sportline. So I'm ordering one next week. 4 month wait. But that's OK. I'll have it on a 24 plate.

    I own an Audi. I love it. It's old, and I'm about to buy a new car. Normally I'd prefer another Audi, but while the design of the Audi is nice, it's just not that much more premium over the Id4. And the VW designers seemed to have embraced the EV platform/concept more. It's clean, no pretension of being a petrol car there. Why pretend to have a grill? I'd get the AWD ID4 blinged out. Or a Kia EV6 AWD. Rumour has it, the upgraded software on the VW improves performance etc quite a bit. Also in NA the middle parts are being replaced with a different design.
    Audi Q4 50 AWD is 70k and the ID4 AWD top trim is 58k CAD here in Canada.

Having owned an iPace for over 4 years which I love, I think the manufacturer who produces a plug in Hybrid with a 100 mile ev range and traditional knobs and buttons will be hugely successful and it would not surprise me if Toyota came up with the option

No one ever complains about alcantara on seats even though it's not only expensive but wears VERY badly and looks disgusting after a year.
