    Hi Warren, stumbled onto your channel. As I'm 66, this interested me. I'm a 4.3 index been playing from the age of 33. Bad habits always return, especially after injury. I'm fine now, looking to improve strike into my 70's. Your drill reminded me of my nephew struggling to hit the ball, i showed him a half swing, it went like a bullet with no effort. Just like your video here. I obviously released it properly, but generally, I don't. I know I'm moving too much, I get tired on bad days. Your video makes so much sense, especially now in my golfing life. I suspect too many over 50 still try to move like the pros, which is generally impossible. Thanks for showing me the way. Subscribed 👍

    Refreshing to hear instruction about a roll release, see all the pro's do it , but so many teachers want to take the hands out, why? any tool i use in life i use my hands! Great video Warren, cheers for posting, Glenn 👍👍

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Glenn,
      It all depends on the individual, in professionals, elite golfers there might be a case for taking hands out the swing more due to them being too active, but in my experience the majority of golfers need that release. It’s all a blend.
      Many thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it as I’m still new to this TH-cam thing.
      Regards
      Warren

    Great content! Thanks for this! My game improved significantly when I stripped off much of the complications of the swing - particularly, thinking of body positions. What works for me is this more "handsy" type of swing - allowing the clubhead mass to move/whip. It took a lot of trial and error (and detours) before I finally accepted that my torso and legs' role is to accommodate the physics of the swing. The irony of it all is that my overall body sequence improved when I became a more hands-first type of golfer. No more hanging back, rotation occurs naturally, tilts found their own way. More importantly, less bodyaches next day. I'm sure the more body-oriented modern swing is great for some. But my body isn't so modern anymore. Haha!

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That makes perfect sense to me and sounds like you’ve found the secret to the ‘less is more’ feeling. It can unlock other areas of the swing which you have described, that’s why it is a major part of my coaching philosophy.
      Well done and thank you for taking the time to message me.

    After coming back from a three year layoff due to injury, I'll definitely be applying your methods at the range very soon. I'm 42, but have lost some flexibility and speed. Can't wait to get on with it and see how it feels. Always been a proponent of a hands release. They can move so much faster than the body and it's a touch easier on the back as well

    Thanks again Warren. I still find the ‘drop’ so hard. Not enough time! Although the ball is waiting down there patiently 😅 I’m just in a hurry to get back there and hit from the top. I really like your tray drill so I’ll incorporate that together with this. Cheers from Adelaide

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s a very common problem the instinct to hit from the top. A very very light grip say 1 out of 10 throughout, doing practice swings and then a few shots in a net will really make the club feel heavy, it’s really hard to hit and change direction quickly with a very light grip, the secret is to keep the lightness in the grip throughout, then once you get used to the feeling maybe change to a 3/10 for when the ball is there.
      Would be interested to see how it goes.
      Wishing you well
      Warren

    Thanks Warren - really useful to know the importance of the rolling wrist - which seems to be a rare topic in Italy which is very “Stacked”! Have you made a lesson featuring the right knee kick as you call it? I still seem to get caught short of a full weigh transfer.

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Marc, good to hear from you again and may thanks for the message, apologies for the late response.
      It all has its place but all in minority I’d stay, I always try and find a blend, especially teaching the individual.
      I think I mention the right knee Siri g a few of the videos but not one specifically yet, I will put it on my list, thanks.
      Firstly a good place to start is the right foot, getting that off the ground gives you the range of motion that allows your knee to come in more, followed by hips etc. If you keep the right foot on the ground you will find it very hard to release your weight forward.
      Check your path isn’t too out to in because if your swing is too much this way you will have to hold back to cut across it, just a thought incase.
      Many thanks
      Warren

      Hi Michael, many thanks for your kind words and feedback very much appreciated.
      Definitely the same with driver and fairways, there are a few small differences with a driver and fairway but mainly it’s the changes in the setup.

    I warren I know at some point you have got to get through with your body and legs but a lot of the time I stop moving through the swing and just hit the ball what is the main point why I stop help 👍

    • @warrenbennettgolfacademy
      @warrenbennettgolfacademy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Apologies for the late reply Dave, it’s a tricky one as many factors come into play as to why you may be stoping and not releasing your body/legs etc through the shot. Check you’re not swinging too much out to in which will make you have to hold back and cut across it.
      If that’s not the case firstly start by lifting your right foot up together with your knee kicking over, trying to time it as you strike. Start slow and work up speeds.
      More than welcome to have a look if you would like to send a video here or on academy insta or FB message.
      Hope this helps.

      Hi Dave,
      In terms of the exercise, you can do it with any club but I recommend at the start to do it with a club with some loft as it takes away the need to hit it hard. You definitely can do it with a driver, especially phase 2 and 3 but alway bear in mind doing the drill correctly.
      Many thanks
      Warren
