    Damn good info Marion. I’m shopping for a gauge display as we speak. I’m leaning towards the CTS2 due to how many things can be displayed.
    I have several means of troubleshooting to include AlphaOBD which is king for these trucks. Hopefully this will be all I need.
    Thanks sir! 👍🏼

    I like both equally and was going to decide based on cost alone, which the iDash was cheaper. I was not aware it does not come with any mounting hardware. That was a deal breaker for me, I'll be getting the Edge now. Thanks!

    My CTS2 on 2018 2500 CTD installed in pillar housing has been working for just short of a year now. What ever you choose, IMO is a must have for the vitals not provided by DIC.

    In regards to the ram 2500, where do,we find what the sensors and their name, example EGT1/1 on your screen how do you know what temperature reading this is, I did get the TORQUE app, it does show the active sensors, but this is for androids, which I happen to have, but I also got a iPhone , I got a app that has a ton more options to choose for sensors. Plus a little confused about the NOX sensors. Example, on your TORQUE video you have sensor 1 and 3.. hope you get my thoughts here..

    • @theplanechannel3857
      @theplanechannel3857 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure of a definitive way. There's 4 EGT's. EGT 1/1 is the 1st sensor behind the turbo. EGT 3//3 is the sensor behind the DPF. Those are the only two I use. There are two NOX sensors. One is before the DEF and Cat converter and one after. If you look on the Edge Insight or Banks Idash site, they list what they can monitor. Yea, the torque app is not supported as far as I know.

    This is a great video. Thank you. I just purchased an idash. I have the available parameters but cannot find a list what the expected values should be. Idash provides the ability to set alarms. But what good does that do if you don't know what the values should be. Can you give some advise as to where to look for these? Banks was no help. Their engineering dept refused to provide this data.

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, I never got much help. Had to come up with my own values and conclusions. I don't use the alarms. Thinking about it, I think I might set one to tell me when I'm getting close to a regen.

      I have my gauges set up with RPM, fuel gallons per hour, EGT1, boost and turbo RPM. But I'm constantly playing around with them and changing things on some of the gauges. the nice thing is that they're all being recorded on the log file regardless of whether you watching them or not

    What’s the best way to get an actual Oil Pressure and Oil Temperature reading into the CTS2 on a 2017 Ram 2500 Cummins?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sending unit is a combination oil psi and temp gauge. The banks doesn't read either of them Good question.

    • @Chiedl
      @Chiedl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marion Blair I know Edge has an EAS a Universal Temperature sensor that would work for oil temp but I’d really like to avoid drilling into the pan or somewhere. Is that the only option?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, the edge can take a gauge reading from a mechanical gauge I'm pretty sure. Talk to Edge, they can fix you up with the solution. It should be fairly easy but worth the cost?

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a 1/8" NPT (pipe thread) on the top of the oil filter which could be use. The minimum pressures should be 10 psig at idle and 30 psig at 2500 RPM. There's wet and dry sensors and PSIA vs PSIG. You'll want PSIG and wet sensor, I think since the sensor internal is exposed to the oil. And you want to reference gauge pressure not atmospheric. The port on the top of the oil filter is on the downstream side of the filter. This is where Cummins recommending oil pressure be checked.

  • @maxgarcia9512
    @maxgarcia9512 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh sorry but I have one other question Marion. Do you have to keep updating software on either gauge? Like I mentioned before not a lot of trouble shooting but looking for a lot of data at once. I don't want to fiddle with the gauge while I 'm driving and I don't want to keep updating software if I don't have too. Keeping it simple because I RV and I want to do the monitoring with temps and pressures to foresee a possible problem. Thanks Again. I just Love your videos!!

    Can the Banks display what gear the Transmission is in and if the Converter is locked? Can't seem to find this info on their website nor find a parameter list for a 2020 3500 6.7L.

    • @MarionBlair
      @MarionBlair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Banks doesn't show the lockup like the Edge, unfortunately. This is a short coming of the idash and it does show the gear but only the gear you have selected manually. Another words if you are in drive, it won't show the gears are they are automatically changed. I reported this to Banks as well as a couple of other bugs I found and they did address some but not this one. The edge does follow the transmission as it shifts however.

    • @CFArmouredCrewman
      @CFArmouredCrewman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarionBlair Thanks again. Banks just for a nice new Ram 3500 in their shop for testing and toys so hopefully they can add some of these features. You miss a VERY key point when you talk price. If you want to add say fuel pressure, you almost double the price on the edge unit.
