    Great video just the needed info , and showing the repair , not 20 minutes of digging for tools and yelling at the chickens 😆

    Thank you for this video, I have a 110 John Deere and the set up is almost exactly the same.

    Great video. Just picked up a John Deere 216 with a hydraulic tiller attachment. Believe the belts are loose cause the tiller won't turn when it's down in the ground but the tractor runs real good. Got to find out what belts I need, anyways thanks for the helpful video.

    Hi. I just replaced my variator handle. I took it all apart only to find out that you only need to push the rolled pin out, hit the base with some penetrating oil and twist it off. Very easy if you have the right punch

    Next time you replace the drive belts be sure to use genuine JD belts because they last much longer believe me lol.

    There are two springs that work with the drive belts. The forward one is about mid tractor & larger than the other. The smaller one is rearward, and the rear side of that spring attaches above the transmission - I am not sure where the front end of that reward spring attaches. My spring broke & the attachment points that I have guessed at are either too far away, or leave the spring too loose. Any help would be appreciated.

    This definitely helps people but just point out that the little bracket that has bolt on block 1/2in bolt you dont need thay i took mine off and mine is working good

    My book says you're supposed to put the variator in the 5th position forward before cranking to adjust the variator. Looked like yours was mostly back. Wonder if they gave you any loss of function with the variator or any other issues.

    How the heck did you get at the 1/2 inch bolt under the PTO pulley???? I've got pulleys underneath the PTO that block access

  • @themasterpackrat
    @themasterpackrat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just wondering if the bolts you refer to are actually 5/16" and not 1/2"? A 5/16" bolt generally takes a 1/2" wrench. A 1/2" bolt takes a 3/4" wrench!

    So many belts on these 200 series. I have the same tractor, but haven't needed to change or adjust the variator....yet. This video will help. Thanks Chris. P.S. That tiller weighs a ton. Do you use it for ballast?

    • @thisandthatwithchris1984
      @thisandthatwithchris1984  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope I use it to till my gardens

      @@thisandthatwithchris1984 Once I'm done with my tiller, I put it away. Looks like you leave yours on. Or do you use your tractor, "only" for tilling, and have another for plowing/snowblowing, and mowing, dragging trailers around ect.?

      @@wg7644 That is wonderful. I think the John Deere belts are better. Mine is out of adjustment again and I think it's the aftermarket belts but I am cheap so will keep adjusting it. lol

    Did you ever get a variator handle? I have a good one and also a good variator drive pulley set. I have no use for them.

    Hello Chris,
    I just did this on my 210 model. Now it seems like the secondary belt is too tight. The idler pulley in the rear comes up so high that it scrubs the underside of the body. With the variator all the way forward it rarely scrubs, pull it up any and it scrubs hard and sounds aweful. Any suggestions?

    • @thisandthatwithchris1984

      Brandon Frazier Sounds like the variator isnt set up did you set it? Also did you use John deere belts or aftermarket?

      Did you ever figure this out? I know this is a year old but this is the EXACT problem I’m having right now

    • @howardmontes501
      @howardmontes501 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, I just found that my transaxle has moved forward out of the notch on the frame that it’s supposed to be sitting in, moving the pulley on the transaxle forward, interfering with my idler pulley. I hope you figured yours out. Do you guys use a forum of any kind to figure some of this stuff out? Or know of a forum to just read up on stuff about 200 series. I’m a first time riding mower owner and I’m not that much of a mechanic, though I learn extremely fast and grew up around gearheads
