Many thanks for the review. Have frequently thought the Explorer was the perfect one. But you have made a compelling case for this one. Hope that fatherhood is as much fun as bringing home a new watch every day. Congrats on both
Beautiful watch, especially with the smooth bezel. You’re right about it being a scratch magnet. I wish Rolex would produce a titanium version.I prefer the duller surface, too.
I have this very wstch and colour. I totally agree with you on everything. For me it is the most underrated Rolex in the range. The shape and design of the Oyster bracelet are just perfect. I only wear mine at weekends but wear it for everything. Looks great with a suit and great with jeans and t-shirt. Great review 👏
Congrats on the watch, it's a beauty. I purchased one earlier this yr (Apr 2023, in the same configuration) as a b'day gift to myself. Imho, the DJ41 black dial is kind of a cool combination of the Exp 40, the OP41, with the added funtionality of a date. It's a great watch!
Black dial is really nice and classic. I decided to go for the white dial and smooth bezel on oyster bracelet like yours. The bezel will scratch over time. Also the polished oyster links. Still, it's a great watch. I rotate back and forth with my Submariner. Congrats on being a Dad, by the way.
I got the silver dial and jubilee band... I stopped wearing my other Rolexs.. this is the cheapest one but the most comfortable. I personally think the smooth bezel only looks good on the jubilee and the president bracelet.
Great review and beautiful watch. I agree with you that this style of watch is the perfect everyday watch. If I could only have one watch, it would be this one or the Omega Aqua Terra.
Double congratulations on being a father and getting the Datejust. A great review showing the positives and the not so positive aspects of the watch. Great that the movement was sorted under Rolex warranty as well.
Don't get me wrong, it's a handsome watch for sure but $9,100 for a 3 year old, simple, stainless steel, 3-hander with a damaged movement with no fine finishing? Brutal.
Damaged movement? $9100 which includes a service to get it at +/- 0 you meant to say. I agree with this video for the most part, I think the perfect everyday piece is a fluted bezel/ jubilee black dial or white dial Datejust 41. My Rolex DJ 41 Mother of Pearl dial diamond markers is one of my favorite pieces I have. I also have a 18k Vacheron Constantin fluted bezel / hand engraved (kind of a big deal), Tudor black bay steel, 39mm Tudor 1926, Zenith and a 18k Universal Geneve Polerouter Date
Hey, a question for you. Is the dial a sunburst pattern instead of gloss? I had a 39mm Explorer and liked its dial, and am a bit concerned that a sunburst black isn't going to be as sporty. If it is sunburst, is it very noticeable? Thanks much
The perk of the jubilee bracelet would be: that it's harder to see scratches Arguably more breathable and comfortable And also it wears like a 47mm bc the bracelet pulls straight down, rather than the 51mm with the oyster, as it wears a bit bigger.
Congratulations on becoming a father. This Rolex is pretty much all you need.

Beautiful watch. And congratulations on the birth of you first child Anders!
Thank you! It’s a fantastic life changing thing.
@@TimeAndCrown Yes it is. And the watch ain't bad either 😂
@@carolinaguy9955 😀
Beautiful presentation and wonderfully articulated. I hope to own this exact same reference one day.
I have the fluted bezel / jubilee bracelet Mother of Pearl dial and diamond markers. It glistens 📸

Thanks for this review. I’ll be purchasing the Rhodium dial next year. A little more flash, but still understated. Great review!
Congrats, a lovely piece! I just picked up my new silver dial DJ41 from my AD this week and I love it! 👍🏻
Can a Milgauss and Datejust be in the same collection? Are they different enough?
Love it, especially the smooth sporty bezel. But personally I prefer the white dial. Agree about the blue dial.

Defo! That’s the config I have with the smooth bezel and jubilee bracelet and it looks on par with a day date platinum
Hand-some! Date-just is the classic. Congrats too!
Beautiful watch indeed.. The light plays really well.. Congratulations.
Congrats on the baby and the watch. It’s beautiful.

Only one can be purchased new at an AD….

Shame on that gray dealer for shipping a watch with that sort of flaw. Beauty of a watch though.

That’s how it is with Rolex. Fortunately it’s a free market so you can buy something else.
I hear you but the dial reads ROLEX
Damaged movement? $9100 which includes a service to get it at +/- 0 you meant to say.

I hear what your saying but if he went to sell that watch tomorrow he would get 10.000 for it and that’s why ppl buy rolex

Hi Larry. It has a very slight sunburst effect. I chose the black because I think the blue is too shiny.
I love it when he wore a rolex to mow the lawn.......
😀
Congratulations to you and you family !
What causes a watch to be off that many seconds per day? Does that happen to all automatic watches?
There’s a lot of causes. The watch may be magnetized, the movement may need cleaning and lubrication, it can be caused by a drop or bump.
I can't choose, really would love to have a gmt master II, but for the grey price I rather have this or the explorer and a submariner
Congrats on the new baby !
Waiting on my blue dial , nice watch good info .
It is a great watch, but a bit too expensive for me. I would prefer the GMT for just a little bit more.
These days, the GMT is a lot more expensive than the Datejust.
@@smr32061 Yes, on the secondary market. I was talking from the AD. One can dream, right?
@@WrongTimeWatch of course. 🙂
Diametre 39,9mm ?
Yes, if you have the Jubilee bracelet, it will be much less of a scratch magnet
Congratulations!
Congratulations on your purchase. That is such a beautiful watch
Nice watch and video !
у меня такие 126300 это потрясающее сочетание вкуса
Can't go wrong with a DJ41.

It’s a awesome watch but I love that Piaget watch
Congratulations buddy. On your baby child, that is 😁👍
Tillykke my friend.
I don't know man, the 30 seconds at 6pm is sus. Rolex puts a crown there.
The early production models had 30 at 6pm.
Do you go to the beach with it?, swim with it?, go hiking?, ... I need at least another one.
Lovely watch. Congrats on becoming a father.
Just don't trade the Tag Heuer Aquaracer🤔
Tillykke Anders.
Mange tak :)
Rolex doesn’t need your money, just ask them.
Congrats on becoming a dad😊😊😊😊… how old are you?
Not sure about the integrity of the dealer who sold you this .. they would have known the movement was faulty before they sold you it ..
He offered a full refund but I wanted to have the watch serviced anyway to get a free authenticity check.
@@TimeAndCrown Thats fair enough .. especially if the watch was still under warranty .. 😁
Are any of your watches going to be passed down to family?!
No , not one.
