I really appreciate how you cover all the points of this illness. It's a wealth of knowledge that you are sharing with us. Often you are covering points I haven't ever thought of, but are very important. I can't thank you enough.

I have a very unsympathetic nurse practitioner as well when I discuss my pain. It's like she sees every pain patient as someone who is seeking medications, even though I have 16 years of medical records to back up my history. She continues to lower the amount of medication she will prescribe which greatly decreases my chances of being able to stay employed. It's very frustrating. I'm scared to change doctors because I feel that many are the same, especially in pain management.

Jill, Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to deal with an unsympathetic doctor, and I know many people with IC will benefit from this advice.

I've had IC since I was 12 ... The best case of explaining it is "It feels kind of like a UTI ... but it's not a UTI". Most people have had some form of bladder infection in their lives, so most people remember what a UTI feels like -- that helps people understand a little better.

Just another quick question... why don't we see more people trying "natural" remedies rather than the more invasive treatments such as bladder instillations, etc.? I've tried all of the more invasive treatments with no good results (for me), so now I'm researching ways I can change my diet to induce healing, etc. Things as simple as alkalining my body, making sure my body isn't acidic, etc.

Omg thank you so much for talking about the pain after urinating. i pretty much only have bad pain after i pee and my urologist already diagnosed me with IC only after 3 appointments. i was just shocked because i didn’t think it would be this since i don’t have any of the frequency or urgency only pain so i was thinking it’s a pelvic floor issue. But of course the doctor said it’s IC i’m just not sure if i was describing my symptoms correctly at first

Hello Jill my symptoms started Nov 7th 2009 and I am going to my third urologist May 24th 2010. I am on elmiron and the symptoms have decreased by I still get major flares :( What other medications can you tell me about to ask the urologist about. I think my interstital cystitis was either caused by doxycylcline antibiotic burning my bladder lining, allergies or my high acidic diet prior.

I have chron's disease and have had it since 07'. I used to get UTIs a lot,but not I have to go pee all the time and have major irritation in my pelivic area.I also have to push to pee along with frequency.I haven't been yet to the doctor.I also have a lot of stress/anxiety which probably is making it worth.I'd really appreciate a fast response and what you think. Are these symptoms related.I have also had bad stomach cramps and my chron's is in remission or supposed to be.I'd really appreciate u
