    Thank you so much for your lovely words at the beginning of your vlog. They meant a lot we’re feeling very emotional in our home at present. It’s a period of great change, but the constant is the deep and abiding faith that runs through our monarchy.

    Jen thank you so much for your beautiful words at the beginning. I would never have handled that as well as you did and felt so emotional on Thursday and Friday, hence I didn't do a FS video. Thank you, your UK/Canada/Australia viewers would have really appreciated that. ❤️

    Thank you, Jen, for your heartfelt words. Her Majesty was a truly remarkable woman who will be so very sadly missed by many. I’m sorry the launch was cancelled at the last minute but glad you enjoyed your time with Trish! Kind regards from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕

    Great job getting your fabric washed, dried, ironed, and folded. That is quite a task. Your junk journal looks fab. So sorry about the launch being postponed, but, hopefully, you will be able to see it soon. I know Trish is so relieved to destash that fabric. Tasks like that are always more fun when done with friends. Have fun with Carole. Love you. 😘💗

      OMG we talked about you a couple of times - you're the tall one (thank goodness it's not just me, they're all midgets!), you're the organized one, you're the one we need to keep us on track, how in the world you stay so fit and healthy - how we love your channel and you and what you make. We have GOT to have some kind of event where we can all be there. Even zoom in the Brits and Aussies. How much fun would that be? How encouraging? That needs to happen.

    Grandmas act any way they want; you will be great at it. Yes, the Queen she was a great woman, I have watched so many documentaries and shows about her I feel like I know her like a good friend. My son called me the day after she died and asked me if I was in mourning, I told him yes, she was a great woman and we have never known anybody else, and my sister is mourning her also.

    I got a nice case from harbor freight to keep sewing accessories in. I love my magnet for picking up pins & other things. I want to get one of those things that has a handle & magnet at the end for picking things up off the floor. I have a reacher for paper,fabric,thread& other stuff. Saves my back & knees. I need to look up my hemostats from my days as a nurse. We basically used them to twist stubborn IV tubing apart. I do have some nice pointed tweezers for picking up ornery thread. I finally broke down & bought some things that keep bobbins with thread & thread spools under control. All that thread all over can really pluck your last nerve. I like cotton also. I did make some pants with gabardine & that was pretty easy to sew with. I tried rayon challis one time & that wasn’t so good. Thank goodness just a small sleeveless top. Just chalk that one up as a learning project and back to doing some research on how to sew with it. Best of times with the traveling & that new grand baby. We leave close to end of October for Florida to visit family. My granddaughter will be 5 & my grandson will be 3 in January. You are going to enjoy the fabric come this winter.

      @TodayinJensSewingRoom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should get one of those magnet things, I hear they're so helpful especially when you have carpet. Sorry you didn't end up liking rayon challis! It's not good for everything, but of course no fabric is.

    Same here..cotton is my favorite. Simply because it’s so easy to sew. I have yet to be successful at sewing with knits. There are so many cute knit fabrics out there, but after numerous fails, I’ve given up. My unconventional tool…hmmm, I’d have to say the bamboo skewers. I used them for everything, I.e., guiding sewing while sewing, turning corners (carefully), etc. a lot of fun trips for you. Have fun.

    • @TodayinJensSewingRoom
      @TodayinJensSewingRoom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The one thing I can say about being a grandmother is that while I knew I would love my grandchildren, I had absolutely no idea of how much. You love your children dearly and then when you have grandies, you realise (unbelievably) that was only the tip of the iceberg. It sounds like you are in for a really lovely week away, I’m so happy for you.

    Like you, I only have daughters and was a bit concerned when I learned my first grand was a boy. I was afraid I wouldn’t know how to play with a boy and wouldn’t get to sew for a boy. I was WRONG! Little boys are completely different from little girls and are so much fun! And I have found many things to sew for him, including a quiver for his “arrows” 🥰 You are in for the time of your life! I need to destash about as much as Trish but I have no idea what to do with it once I do. Where is Trish taking her fabric? I am also a quilter and gave away 2-3 big bags at the beginning of COVID when people were making masks for everyone. I still have entirely too much. And yes, Harbor Freight is the bomb for all kinds of sewing stuff.

    I've been waiting for your Friday sews. Tricia's d. Stash was bigger than my entire stash. Wow! Congratulations to her. I am so with you about the Artemis launch. I love all things space as well. My favorite fabric is denim. It behaves so well when I'm cutting and sewing. I just love it. And that brings me to my favorite unconventional sewing tool. That is a cutting board and a hammer. It is so helpful to hammer down those bulky seams that I want to sew. Just steam the heck out of it and hammer it down and it becomes ever so compliant. And by the way as a nana of two I give unconditional love and I say yes. When mama says no yet I actually defer to Mama. I give lots of eye rolling advice but I think at the end of the day they absorb some of it. At least I hope so. Lol

    I aspire to have a destash as big as Trish’s one day! Jen, you convinced me to give your favorite dress a try. I have a question about sizing. If I make the pattern according to my measurements, it recommends one size. But the finished garment measurements put me in a different size altogether. Any suggestions as to which size I should make? Thank you!

    • @TodayinJensSewingRoom
      @TodayinJensSewingRoom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the thing to keep in mind is that it's very loose fitting. You have side seams and a center back seam you can adjust if the fit is off. If you have a basic shift dress, or a "tent" dress, any loose fitting dress you like then you need that basic size. This dress fits well through the bustline but you really do have to take your fabric into account, especially if you're doing sleeves. I'm doing a collab with Michelle tomorrow about the dress and I'll try and address all these things there -

      I'm finding out alot about history that people keep quiet. One of the families involved just spoke out after the queens death. Apparently this was held in for decades. And a video was posted from the wife whose husband rebelled, there was footage of the British seizing the men. I just cried. I was so hurt. I'm sure you didn't know as well as I. Thanks Jen for telling me. I feel better.
