    Great riding fellas! Mud can make a boring section interesting. 😂
    Those damn interchangeable scalpel knifes are popular in hunting areas. One blade gets dull snap it out and replace with a new one. Throw the old one in the truck bed and it vibrates out… I can see the possibilities on how that got there. Good thing you had the tube.👍

    Another great episode! I would have thrown my GOPro away if I had known you were going to make such a good video of the route.
    The folks in Atlantic City are a colorful bunch, and very friendly. The food is not bad either. We camped in the nice Forest Service campground to the east of town and the locals told us about the coin operated showers at the RV park in town. Atlantic City is well worth the stop over on the route.

    It’s nice to see folks actually camping in the back country rather than pay campsites where you’re crammed in and have to listen to the drone of generators, screaming kids, etc.
    Certain TH-camrs in the Adv community complain about how many people are “out on the trails” and bitch about just wanting to get away from society….and then you never see them filming camp anywhere but a fricken KOA or something like that?!?
    I guess that’s Californians for ya, though. 😂

  • @rosslangerak8361
    @rosslangerak8361 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ah, yes. The old tubed vs tubeless debate.
    If you can plug a tubeless tire, everything is great. But if you have to take the tire off the rim, you will need a burst of air to reset the tire. Same if you're installing a new tire. One method I've seen is to carry a short section of air hose with a thread on fitting on each end and a valve in the middle. You give your good tire a bit of extra air, connect one end of the hose to the good tire and the other to the flat tire, and open the valve. Air rushes from the good tire to the flat tire and hopefully sets the tire. You can do this multiple times.
    With a tubed tire, you always have to take the tire at least half off to repair the tube, but once repaired, airing it is not an issue.
    I picked up half of a utility knife blade in my rear tire a few months back. If I'd had tubeless tires, I would not have been able to plug it.

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great info. It’s funny you mention that method, because we were saying that exact same thing after we got it all done. The first thing Dan did when he got back was make a set up to be able to use the good tire. 👍🏻

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure were you are, but here in the NW Ranchers use the millions of acres of public land to run cattle free range in the summer. Same in MT and WY. I raised cattle in TX and OR and it completely different. Regardless, giving the cattle a a little beep beep, does no harm to them and keeps them from getting spooked. It’s one thing to get nudged in a pick up but another when you’re on a motorcycle.

  • @MeerkatADV

    Please don't honk at cows. All it does is piss off farmers. The cows are gonna be stupid no matter what you do. Better off just riding slow until they're gone.

    • @backcountryadvmoto
      @backcountryadvmoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting. I’ve been around cattle my entire life and have never heard it pisses off the Ranchers. When I was younger I worked on my families ranch and that’s just what we did. My only concern when riding by them is like you said they are big dumb animals and get startled. We honk when we are further away to get them moving before they are close enough to bump into you. Maybe it’s different in different parts of the country

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@backcountryadvmoto I responded but it doesn't seem to want to post the reply. I grew up around cattle as well, and the BDR's have their own programs requesting people not harass livestock and wildlife. Best thing to do is just ride slow and go past. The young ones always want to run back to their mothers but normally the adults will just stand there if you don't spook them.

    • @ArizonaAdv
      @ArizonaAdv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MeerkatADV Agreed growing up in Oregon if you honk or ride behind the cows and drive them and one brakes their legs you are held responsible . And it really does PISS off the farmers and they will close the gates no more riding through . It really upsets me that SO MANY riders just chase the cows down the road SORRY if it's inconvenient but we are on their land respect every inch of it. go very slowly A rider should never make a cow feel it's needs to run . Stay back . I have walked my bike through before . RESPECT it guys . and a lot of farmers now have cameras on the road to show everyone that comes through the property or BLM land If they find one injured you will be buying an entire cow .

    Looks like fun but riding those heavy tanks doesn't. I'd like to think if I could afford a litre bike, I still wouldn't get one. Well I appreciate your honesty, but like I tell everybody else that says that to me. Fun for me is the challenge of getting big bikes through tough terrain. I won’t tell you to how to have fun if you don’t tell me how to have fun. 😁Everyone’s definition of fun is different. Just get out and ride and create your own memories and adventures. Whether that’s on a 550 pound “adventure” bike, or a TW 200. All the same result. Thanks for watching
