Wow. Horrible accident! Whilst a lot of the force was dissipated via the car violently rolling, that violent rolling itself could have seriously damaged his neck, let alone the landing. Very pleasing to see safety standards are enabling more drivers to be better protected in incidents like this. Got to love his optimism when saying: “The car’s [obviously] been badly damaged, but hope we can get out for tomorrow!” There are far fewer mechanics/team personnel at this level, so to try to replace virtually everything on that chassis (all 4 corners, engine, gearbox, floor, bodywork, probably the ‘tub’ (safety cell) et cetera) in time for the race the next day was very optimistic! Unless they had another chassis on site either already built up, or a chassis & safety cell/tub that they could use as a starting base to then fit all the required components to. Good upload!👏
These sorts of crashes look very dramatic but this is actually one of the safer ways to crash. The roll structure is causing the car to dig into the ground, flipping it over and dissipating energy rather than sliding down the track at speed, and all the extremities of the car are also being torn off and also dissipating some energy, leaving just the engine and survival cell.
Yellow flag situation is the understatement of the year!
What a YOKE! A YOKE!
Had to listen twice, thought I miss heard it. Nope, Most likely a yellow flag situation.
:) probably just a mistake, he meant to say red I'm sure.
@@ab8jeh maybe he could have said safety car
Seeing him talking right after was cool, dudes got balls of steel.
Thank you for the footage . Thank you driver for even taking the time to tell us your ok.
Most violent open-wheel roll I've seen since Pagenaud's
Oh yes, loosing sidepods helped him a lot with flipping a lot more times
Well now we got Sting Ray Robb’s roll at Iowa
@@LessGo7921 Sorry but Robb's is not anywhere near as violent.
@@DaPikaGTM I'm pretty sure he's saying that now there was another roll, he never said it was violent

My god. Glad the driver is well. Commentator comments were so bizarre.
Reminds me of Fernanfo Alonso's roll in 2016 where everyone thought he was dead and he just walked out unharmed. And that was before the halo too.

Yes exactly
Goddamn what a roll... Holy shit
Really really good editing! You really know what you are doing. That was simple edits perfectly done

Glad he's ok.
How did he survive that, it's a miracle. It says a lot for the safety build of modern cars.
🤣🤣🤣
Better don't watch Kubica accident.
@@BadTrip69 He was lucky, I remember seeing his legs sticking out the front. Nasty
open wheel cars nowadays are more than safe enough.
The survival cell is so impressive
The carbon shell/monocoque is incredibly solid! Everything else basically comes off.
awesome video
That was scary.
Glad to see that Shin's alright, that was a fucking huge crash.
Reminds me of my starfox days!!
7.5 flips. wow
7 and a half rolls wow
The guy has no clue the amount of work that the mechanics do. He is expecting that car to race again tomorrow?!?!
'The car is a bit badly damaged'? What car!
The car that was rolling
@@Skells22 It was a sarcastic comment, because he said "a bit damaged".
Sorry, British humour.
Holy shit
Luckily it wasn't a immediate stop

7.5 rolls - that's right between 7 rolls of Casino Royal and 8.5 rolls of Fall Guy
Thankfully he didn't roll due to body on the track like in Casino, Zandvoort track owners and marshalls would be screwed
Oops! That won't polish out.
Was the pilot ok?
Yes he said it
Erm driver talking in this video (as well as the full crash that was cut from the TH-cam feed)
Was that the full crash that was cut on the 1st broadcast?
Yeah, they uploaded the crash later on tweet account so I decided to edit it into the official live footage
Big 🧻
Do à barrel roll !
what about the car?
Oh, no problem - it's back to normal tomorrow! 🤣
