I'm a chippy by trade and have spent a lot of money on Makita tools over the years. I even named my English Staffy "Makita" but after so many bricked batteries I hesitantly made the switch to AEG a short while back. I honestly cannot fault their gear, they have far exceeded my expectations and my AEG Toolbox is constantly growing.

I’ve been an Electrician for 15 years and I’ve used AEG the whole time, I’ve still got my blue 18 volt that was made in Germany that I use along with newer orange tools. They have always done what I have needed them to and I have never had any of them fail.
Despite this it is amazing how many people think they’re a cheap crappy drill! I used to try and explain to them that they’re a really decent German tool but they can’t get past the fact that they’re sold exclusively at Bunnings.
I’ve given up trying to educate them, it’s their loss haha.

your so right its sad that people don't listen and think Makita, Milwaukee and dewalt are the better brands when in reality AEG has really stepped their game up and become the best trade brand out there

AEG was a german company that went bankrupt and then was split up and the name was sold to different companies, e.g. all the home supplies are mad by electrolux, the name for the tools are owned by a chinese company, i don’t think that your tool is made in germany

AEG is owned nowadays by a TTI named company located in Hongkong. Same company owns aeg, Milwaukee, ryobi and most of the ridgid tools are actually ordered from TTI and just named as ridgid and sold by ridgid. So yeah, AEG is close to Milwaukee in terms of quality and both are professional tools, ryobi is the home level of tools from them.
Dewalt is same company with black and decker etc...
Hitachi(rebranded to hikoki) is from same company with Metabo etc. Small world.

AEG opened my eyes recently and I am binge watching anything AEG!! They are total quality and pack a massive punch! Same as Ridgid in the US and same class as the Milwaukee which are a touch better I guess. Great value at Bunnings, actually it is their top shelf. Even the 12V ones pack a punch with 2.0 and 4.0 AH batteries! Loved this video guys.

Even as a professional tool salesman it's hard not to tell someone to make the switch. That's nuts. Makita might have a greater range of tools but it's either gonna be dewalt, festool or aeg for anyone at this point.
The only 3 brands that have something to offer anymore.

Though props to them, in australia they at least have a very respectful 7 inch grinder, not performance wise but in a good size and allegedly a decent cold cut 18v steel saw coming out. Great review.
I have started to build a good range of AEG the only thing I would comment on with drills is I found torque settings and chuck on AEG seem a bit less durable than Makita
My old range of Makita are over 2 decades old and still brilliant it seems the newer Makita tools are not as robust now which was why I changed to AEG
My AEG tools started as a back up tool set and is now my primary tool set and the old Makita range are back ups now.

Maybe something is up, but it would not have won. The aeg has a monstrous 140nm torque rating. Which is the highest of it's voltage class. That's okay though because that Makita is like from 2014 or something and was miles ahead for it's time. Look toward Makita's newer 36v (40v MAX) model for performance that should likely eclipse these.

Id be interested ti know if it has something to do with how each tool is being used, ie: if one person is pushing too hard/not hard enough and the tool is overloading or wasting energy spinning. If they did each test twice, swapping between users it would show if theres a difference. One battery could be too hot for instance, or maybe the Makita has a longer lasting life of its battery compared to the AEG which may have a battery that works really well for the first week and then starts to deteriorate. There are lots of variables to consider, and Im sure Makita and AEG try to test their tools to make sure they are comparable to the competition, so that sort of disparity is weird! Youd think the Makita being a lot heavier would imply it is more durable over time. But hey my AEG angle grinder is amazing, and has me sold on them as my preferred choice so far!

Just to shed some light on that argument. Im a sparky in NZ, had my brushless 18v AEG drill for 7 years now, been pre drilling houses with it most days with a 25mm auger (which they recommended you dont do) and it still goes just as good as the day i brought it. Will blow through 4 or 5 consecutive studs no worries at all. Its also been used and abused, full of dust and dirt etc from in the ceiling, under the floor etc and it still nearly breaks my wrist if im not careful. However i do agree with you about the skill saws. My brushless AEG skilly cant cut a straight line even with a jig clamped to what im cutting. The blade seems to bow mid cut. And i have heard that those new ones are even worse and shut down all the time. I have never had a battery fail though and all my batteries still hold a good charge. So with a 6 year warranty and being significantly cheaper that say Makita or DeWalt, you cant really complain. If i hadn’t got the AEG drill for a good deal at the beginning i would have ran with Milwalkee.
