This is the most clear and best tutorial on how to play the Undaunted series. Thank you.
You are in the running as "the best game play video". You are so clear on all of the rules. Perfection is so very close here in your presentation. Excellent job. A++.
Great job as always!
Just a couple of corrections:
25:25, the german scout action should had added another fog of war card to their discard pile.
49:34, riflemen B rolled a hit on 5 (and not a miss) so the german riflemen B should had one less card (probably the last one that ended the game..)
Good notes, I've added corrections to the Klingon subtitles for both. Thanks for pointing them out!
Great Playthrough. Very professional presentation. Just ordered my copy.
Thanks.
Well this is the best tutorial I've seen of any game ever to be honest. Thank you
Wow, thanks for the high praise! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
top notch playthrough!
Very helpful!!!!! First time I understand the game. The 'barn' at 1B is a church. The German Platoon Sergeants looks more like captain.
This video after your tutorial was so damn helpful. Thank you so much, useful subtitles, easy to understand you, perfect.
Thank you very much not only for tutorail but also basic tactics what to do in this game. Usually wargames are about blasting your enemies and then taking objectives. It seem undauted boargame is objectives first and attacking is only strategic move to help getting objectives.
Hi Jon, Thank you for bringing another excellent play-through, this game looks really awesome, the deck thinning that goes on to represent the depletion of troops. Will definitely have to invest.
at 24:58 when you control with the Rifleman you should flip both tokens. You don't need to take 2 control actions to take over that tile.
note from the designer on the BGG forum boardgamegeek.com/thread/2424784/gaining-control-enemy-tile
I believe there was already a note about this in the Klingon subtitles.
@@JonGetsGames It is, didn't have them turned on. Sorry about that. I enjoyed your playthrough.
Just sold me on this game.....Amazon here I come. Great Video.
You are excellent at this, I now understand how to play this game.
Thanks for taking the effort to explain this game. Ordered my copy!
Also they should consider to transform this into a pc game or an app. This kicks Kards's a$$ anyday
@@bertvdau There are mods for this on Tabletop Simulator.
Thanks a lot for the extensive commentary! By watching i understood the basics of the game really well and can explain that to my friends:)
I'm impressed with the interesting tempo choices. Deck thinning is great, but the German forces were on/near the control points, so that put extra time pressures on the American forces.
Helpful, thanks. Subtitles a clever idea too!
Well done! Based on your video, I think I now understand how the game flows. I went ahead and ordered it. Thanks.
Awesome, I hope you enjoy it :)
great playthrough. you got that game very interesting for me. thank you very much!
Brilliant walk through. I actually just bought the game on the strength of it. Cheers.
I really enjoyed watching this. I'm going to search for a gameplay video for one of the expansions. Really hope your channel has the expansion gameplay too
Wow, so tense. Nice play. Thanks!
Very nicely done walk through, unfortunately you can't find this game anywhere. There is a new one coming out in July that can be preordered. However, I recently purchased Tabletop Simulator and it looks like there is a mod on there for this game.
you have a natural announcer voice.
Excellent play through! Grabbing my copy!
very good video. your repetitious explanations of what you were actually doing every turn, really helped to re-enforce the rules in my mind as i watched. too often a walkthrough video explains the rules initially and then as the play progresses, the video begins to stop explaining what is happening, having assumed that the viewer now has "gotten" the rules. i can't speak for anyone else, but if i'm new to a game, I need that repeated explanation to really make it sink in. based upon this video, I am subbing to your channel. Keep up the good work!
I'm glad that has helped you out, I do sometimes wonder if I repeat rules too often which makes my videos overly long. Good to hear it's helping at least one person :)
@@JonGetsGames not at all, your repeating everything really helps to sell the game. I just ordered a copy. I had watched two other walkthroughs but was still undecided until i watched yours, and suddenly the rules all made sense. Thanks!
Brilliant play through, very enjoyable, thanks Jon 🙂
great playthrough, I have a copy of the game and hopefully I will be playing it this weekend.
i know this is an older video. but i just bought this game and i really like it so far and this along with the tutorial video definitely helped clear some stuff up for me. I am curious about how you played with the mortars though. I thought the rules said mortars can target tiles up to 3 spaces away. But for example in the case of your first mortar attacking the enemy mortar postition, the mortar was 4 tiles away. And in some cases where you had the german mortars firing they were firing more than 3 tiles away as well. Im curious if theres some type of rule im overlooking that allows a furthur range than 3. or perhaps i read the rules wrong and its further than 3 tiles away a mortar can hit. I could have swore the rules said 3 tiles away but maybe im wrong. Just curious. Anyway. great video. really enjoy the fact even playing by yourself you make the best possible decisions for the opposing team.
Unfortunately, it's been too long since I played this game to remember the rules enough to answer your question. Sorry about that! I am glad you enjoyed this though.
Seems like square 1B should have a higher defence bonus? It's a massive building!
My only gripe though, this looks like a really really good game!
Hope they do Expansions, more scenarios and map tiles, maybe some Armour and Navy influence, and some special one use only cards that don't go in the deck, once you own them they are there ready for call of on any round, special forces, artillery or targeted air strike etc, maybe these could be drawn from a blind pile so you don't know what you get?
I guess this game essentially needs to be kept more or less as light as it is though, think that's pretty much one of it's key attractions for most players? Also wouldn't want to increase the play time much ...maybe it just needs scenarios and tiles for expansion?
What if they added British and Italian forces for new scenarios, and then a few 4 Player scenarios to boot!? :D
I could see 4 player scenarios being interesting, but overall I think keeping the complexity of the game where it is at is likely a good idea. I'm sure they had much more intricate ideas during design but streamlined down to what is a pretty elegant ruleset here
Excellent video,thank you very much.
Great job as always, looking forward to play this, love the deckbuilding and strategy on the board, the theme also entices me. Just one minor correction at 8:12 you did an action with German player then I think you changed your mind and roll back that action, ao at 8:26 you did something slightly different, maybe some editing (cutting) is required at that 8:12 action.
I'm glad you enjoyed it :) Thanks for pointing out that error, I hate it when redos like this sneak into my videos. I've added a correction to the Klingon subtitles about it.
hi there.. 1 question.. can the enemy control a tile with the ALL spawn marker, and would how would it affect gameplay?? thanks in advance
Unfortunately, it's been too long since I played this game to remember the rules enough to answer your question. Sorry about that!
You are wonderful man!!! Thanks
Pre-ordered mine today. One question: I see firing through the depicted house; is there no rules to block line of sight?
Cheers
That's correct, there are no line of sight rules at all. The region defense values seem to be higher when there are buildings on that tile though so this I believe mechanically accounts for the theming of having houses on those tiles.
@@JonGetsGames Got it! Thank you
Thanks for another great video, Jon - this game definitely scratches a number of itches for me.
I pre-ordered this yesterday, because of your excellent playthrough demonstrating the interactions of all the available cards.
(so if my wife asks ... it's "your" fault that I bought yet another game ...)
Hi, there was a mistake
at 49:26 the attack was successful as defence was 5 and you rolled 5 but you state it failed. Great playthrough though. Looks like fantastic game, ordered.
It looks like I have a correction in the Klingon subtitles for this mistake already. Glad you enjoyed the video, hope you like playing the game :)
great JOB!!!
Great job on this video, thanks a lot
Hi!, I have a question, I understood in another video review of the game that you cannot enter a tile occupied by an enemy counter and in tile 5B there is a German and an American unit at the same time, is it valid then to make this move or not? Many thanks for your answer!
My understanding is the only thing an opposing counter prevents you from doing is a control action on that space. You can enter the same location to make battle easier though.
@@JonGetsGames Many thanks for your answer
Glad I watched this as Osprey mis-printed the rules identifying the backs of German/American cards on Page 4 (glaring mistake that makes you wonder what else is wrong). The way CONTROL is explained on Page 13 makes it look like if there are no enemy in the space you simultaneously flip their Control marker over to it's Scout side while flipping your Scout marker over to the Control side. In the game you only flipped the enemy Control token to the Scout side (24:45) and that is a huge difference in play. Were you correct and if so where did you get that interpretation? Thanks.
Oooops, I looked it up at BGG and the Designer David Thompson says: "It's one Control action to flip your scouted marker to control and your opponent's control marker to scouted." so that one part was incorrect.
Huh good to know. Before I published this video I actually sent it to the designer and asked him if he'd watch it and look for mistakes. He gave me the all clear so it appears he didn't notice me mess that rule interpretation up. I'll add a note to the Klingon subtitles now.
@@JonGetsGames LOL! Not YOUR fault as publisher's change things last minute all the time. Great presentation on the game you played here, it helped and thanks for doing this.
Great video!
Just a small mistake. The 8:13 minute scene repeats at 8:36.
Ah, dang I hate it when these things sneak in. Thanks for pointing it out, I've added a correction to the Klingon subtitles.
Great audio.
I really like the fact that your playthrough looks entirely spontaneous, and that it's flowing through the events in authentic way..
I do kind of disappointed that you only rate this game with 6.
Nevertheless, I do appreciate the honesty.
I try to use the descriptions associated with the BGG scale for these. A 6 is "Ok - will play if in the mood" and that's exactly where I stand with the game. Anything over a 5 is a positive overall feeling about the game.
Question though ... I always was under the impression, because you are targeting a tile with the mortars, you are rolling just one die for the tile and every hit gets counted for every unit on that tile.
The rulebook says: "For a Blast action, all combat counters on the tile with the target marker are targeted, including any of your own counters. Perform a separate attack against each combat counter on that tile, taking the steps below for each counter. If the target marker is not on the board, the Blast action cannot be taken."
This is why I rolled separate dice for each unit.
