    This set up make's so much more sense than many of the other products that I see out there... what would be really hot is to have the shaker cover go through the hood, just like on the 69 Mustang... would really look awesome!

    I I installed this on my 2017 Ram 1500 a few weeks ago and love it. Looks good and performs better, with no cooling issues at all. Gets better gas mileage then the K&N it replaced and has great throttle response. It took less than an hour to install, including the time to cut the radiator cover. I highly recommend this system.

    I recently installed this on my 2017 Ram 1500 and the flap does NOT block the condenser as it IS angled a little bit away from the condenser...so you nay sayers that keep saying it is blocking everything, you are wrong...it does a GREAT job as it was designed to do, and my in town mileage has increased greatly! People keep saying that the small "drains" seem to not work, but they are not drains, they are air intakes to push cooler air into the "blanket" under the intake to help keep it cooler...so stop drilling holes in them! I didn't like the size of the hose clamps that came with it, so I just used the originals off of the stock intake on the hose that connects it to the throttle body...other than that, it is exactly as described, and does exactly what they say it will without issues...

    I understand that this pulls in air when moving (much like the stock system) but it's also sitting on top of a hot engine and heat rises. So if you stop for any amount of time this thing is going to heatsoak like crazy.
    It'd be interesting to see back to back pulls with this vs the stocker. I bet this only makes more power on the first pull vs stock

    In Az we dont get much rain BUT when we do everything floods. I have always had a concern with aftermarket air intakes because when you have water a foot up on your hood they suck water. I have put a gopro in the bottom of my air box to see how much water actually went in my air box. No water at all came in. I put the gopro in my engine bay and as long as you keep moving forward the engine bay has a big air pocket that doesn't allow water over your engine again if you keep moving once you stop it fills up. My concern is those drip holes wouldn't drain water fast enough and you would start sucking water down your engine. I would be concerned about rain because those drain holes are very small and the suction of the intake is much stronger than the rain being pushed and pulled up and your filter will be soaked. This is my concern and opinion.

    This intake definitely works better than other CAIs. BUT, upon receiving it, I just kept thinking, I paid how much again for this cheaply made product. The plastic is thin and flimsy and the parts don’t fit together all that well. The tube that attaches to the throttle body was way too large in diameter. Does it work? Oh yeah...track proven. However, the quality of the parts didn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about the purchase.

    All you guys talking about sound. If you here a sound a deep sound etc that's called restriction.... some intakes the plastic tube gives it a little throaty sound. But that deep sound is the sound of restrictive air flow being sucked threw gaps etc. You dont want to hear anything. The less you hear the better. No noise equals less tube run, less restriction. Just try taking off your tube from the throttle body. Step on the gas. You wont hear anything. No restriction wide open

    1.) Does this fit the 5th gen 2019 Ram with the 5.7L?
    2.) Recommend any twisty funnels to get to the engine oil fill? Would rather not take the whole thing off for an oil change
    3.) Does that PCV breather filter need to be cleaned at the same interval?
    As a side note I don't understand why the PCV breather gets fed back to the intake, but I see this on all engines. Like you said it decreases intake air density and throws oil at the filter, and it's not like we're short on air

    Thanks for the install video, I should have watched it instead of relying on the included instructions. The instructions that come from the manufacturer are kinda... Well they kinda suck. They don't address the AC line, they reference the horn with something about moving the wire harness and I had no clue what to do with all the washers. I'd like to also comment on the quality of the product. First it's an air intake, so making it out of plastic is a great idea since its not structural in any way. Two the holes not being perfect for the screws is no big deal, especially since the kit includes the washers and is made of plastic. enlarge the outside holes one drill bit size and it's done, move past it or just get a grasp on reality, look around and list all the "perfect" things you see. Just go take a look at the truck you're putting the air intake on, look close, it's pretty freakin far from perfect, hell if it were perfect you wouldn't be modifying it. It's an awesome product that Moe's Performance really does test, I've seen the Moe's Performance trucks first hand, both Daily Driver and Race, they use the peoducts they sell. Btw I'm just a customer who appreciates a company with integrity, customer care and first hand knowledge about the products they sell. I'm also part of the Subaru community which is very progressive and it's been a struggle in the RAM community for me since the CIA "to use or not to use" debate is still going on, so a huge shout out to Moe's for never talking down to me and for sharing your experience and knowledge with all of us.

    The trimming has to be one of better alterations. Without it most of the air dam is lost, but I am a bit concerned if someone is a dumb ass that would slam full speed into a deep puddle. Living in Florida a lot intersections hold 4" or more between road crowns. So seeing a dumb ass static locked is common. I'm currently looking at a truck with it and if I get that's first thing that I do is the trim, but to a junkyard trim that way if I find that even with care if water gets in I can put back in for the 4 month Rainey season

      Warranty questions are tough because every dealership is different. It should not affect your warranty in any way, but some dealerships will fight you on everything...even as simple as not using them for your routine oil changes.

    Question wouldn't this intake prevent some air... ok a little air to hit the radiator would it affect anything?? Cooling ??? Thanks and have a good one

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does not block enough air to the radiator to cause any issues with heat. We have tested this intake while towing upwards of 8000lbs in 100* heat without an issue.

      It does not. We like to run a 180* thermostat on these trucks, and the temps stay right at 185* while cruising.

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a cleanable/oiled filter, so you can clean and reuse it just like every other intake. Vararam does sell replacement filters though if it ever gets to a point where you need a new one.

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will still work with the grille shutters because the shutters do open at WOT. I always recommend removing the shutters though, for both increased airflow to the filter and better cooling.

    Just installed this today. Only issue I am having is I loosened the AC line bolt on the side but MAYBE got 1/8th of movement. Nothing compared to what it looked like in the video. The video actually makes it look like you bend the bracket a bit to get it that low? My AC line is definitely still pushing on the new Vararam making it crooked. Any suggestions? Thank you - mike

    Question: Doesn’t changing the amount of air available affect the rest of the computer controlled parameters? I’m by no means smart on modern engines, but aren’t they’re set up from the factory to balance power, fuel efficiency, torque curve, using the computer to control fuel, air, spark timing, etc? After installation, is there any follow up maintenance like computer/software changes?

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the start of the install, you will see where we disconnected the negative battery terminal. Doing this will reset the computer so that it adjusts to the increased airflow quicker. The computer will adjust for the extra air on its own, but takes longer to do so if you dont reset the computer yourself by disconnecting that negative battery terminal.

    • @Slu54
      @Slu54 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The MAF (or maybe it's a MAP in the manifold) is downstream of the intake, so the ECU will meter the air correctly. It'll learn the air flow rate and adjust the fuel flow to get the right AFR. The only limitation would be fueling if this intake brings in a crap ton of air, but I don't see anyone mentioning that as an issue.

  • @joshteresa2499
    @joshteresa2499 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Debating on which CAI to go with. What kind of gains can I expect with this paired with your TB

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Vararam intake generally makes about 16-18hp on the dyno, and performs even better at speed when you are forcing air into the motor. The ported throttle body will get you another 8-15hp depending on your other mods. The more you have done to the truck, the more you will gain from the throttle body.

    Not as a complaint but a point visually; this 'air cleaner' looks like such a hodge-podge of a product, unrefined, slapped together with a common Home depot hose and clamps. The main upper seal looks unrefined/nonmolded for the cornering and the wing literally looks like it's too low hanging for radiator cooling... I can't be the only one who thinks this..? For the price in EXCESS of $350.00; that's the best you can build of an aftermarket mod??

    • @moesperformance7499
      @moesperformance7499  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The active grille shutters open when you go wide open throttle, so they wont affect performance with this kit. Having said that, I always remove those shutters anyway. Being in a warmer climate, they serve no benefit to us whatsoever, so I always remove them to help cool the motor and get more air to the air filter.

      It does not affect your cooling. We have run this kit on our own personal trucks for 7 years now in the Sourh Texas heat, and have never had an issue with coolant, oil, or trans temps.
