My parents started getting comic books for me in 1959 when I was four years old. I sure remember the old comic books I read:Scamp,Woody Woodpecker,Huckleberry Hound, Felix the Cat, Popeye and Looney Tunes. The first DC comic book I remember was Superman # 133,which happened to be the first Superman that creator Jerry Siegel had written for in years.(One of the stories was,"How Perry White Hired Clark Kent.")
Wilson’s The Checkered Demon appeared in early 70s issues of Zap Comix, which was launched by Robert Crumb in 1967. Only missing two issues of Dell’s Rin Tin Tin; those two issues aren’t easy to find. Howie Post also did the syndicated strip The Droputs, about two guys stranded on a deserted island; I recall reading it in the 70s. Re: the house ad you showed in Wonderland featured Treasure Comics. I recently sold a copy of Treasure #1, which contained some of the earliest published work by Frank Frazetta.
