Hi, Jim! Cracks me up how these Archie cover jokes were intended to be so corny and innocent and just for chuckles back then, but our present-day mindsets and innuendos cast most of them in a completely different light. Cool topic for a video!
Many thanks for all of your videos. Quick tip: For the Whitman variants you've mentioned at times, why not write the issue number on the back of the backing board? No doubt you'll be checking for missing pages etc., so a quick look at the indicia is all that's needed.
Yes. Same is true for Gold Key a lot have no issue number so I’ll put a sticker on the front of the bag with the issue number. I still think they look bad though.
The Life With Archie books from the late 60's and Early 70's are ones I look for at Flea Markets and Under $5.00 bins. They are usually mystery or gothic style stories and a bit different from the average Archie stories. When I come across readable copies in decent shape I pick them up. Fun reads. Great condition Archies (particularly Giant Size square bound) are tougher to find but mid level grade to readers are plentiful.
I recently started buying some Archie related titles - I prefer the non-beach covers. I like the Malt Shop/Bowling Alley/Dance Hall/Roller Skating Rink/High School covers. I like them for the “Americana” 🇺🇸 of the covers. It’s hard 2 get them on WhatNot bc the shipping makes them too costly for their “limited” value - but I got a couple small lots recently in decent condition.
hahaha Your response to Pearl necklace is nuff said, There are a few Archies that have Neal Adam's interior art. May be overlooked when you see a pile of archies. Archie's Joke Book Magazine #44 Adventures of the Fly # 4 Laugh Comics #107 Archie's Joke Book Magazine #45 Laugh Comics #108. Jughead Comics #58
I automatically buy Silver Age comics if the price and condition are right - they are simply becoming too hard to find in the wild for me to pass them up. In the 1990s Sabrina tv series, Salem always got the best lines. I can understand first appearances but bikini and innuendo covers? That's what these collectors want? Talk about desperate males.

archie books really do bring me joy - used to love the digests
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I'm thankful for TH-cam channels like this, and the comic book community in general.
Jackie Joseph was the voice of Melody. Cheryl sang her musical numbers.

I’m actually the person that bought the 5.5 Archie #271 for $149. 😅

Jim, your letting out all the good secrets! 😉
Started collecting in 1973, it was Scamp but even then i was told the only archie worth collecting was the Superhero issues of archie.
Read Archies as a kid but Little Archie and Archies Madhouse were favorites..

“…and perverts.” Lmao I’m sure my first Archie comic is gonna have a cover that is Betty/Veronica/Bikini heavy.
I have Archie comics from 1956 to 2012 !
Some folks love to collect those Archies. Some folks just collect these innuendo covers.

Archie's Joke Book Magazine #44
Adventures of the Fly # 4
Laugh Comics #107
Archie's Joke Book Magazine #45
Laugh Comics #108.
Jughead Comics #58
Adams issues for Archie were from 1959 or so. Good luck finding Archies that old in a "pile" -- I mean it's possible, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I remember I didn’t really like the xmen but started collecting them and I did well
I like it! 🤔👍
Archie and me #16. The infamous "beat off" cover
It just missed, that was the 60s.
I have the Archie as Pureheart the Powerful comics. I know people look out for them..
Westchester is also the Home of a certain School for Gifted Youngsters. Crossover anyone??
I am not a pervert 😂 but I do like me some Archie books. I believe I have some of those books now I’ll have to find that box
Commenting before ot slips my mind. Getting old.
I see a lot of this stuff at estate sales. Books are always in terrible condition and crazy over priced. Never found a deal worth purchasing.

Pervert? That’s nice
lol loved when you said pervert the first time cause that's exactly what I was thinking!
