Thanks for the tips, I played Jv for 2 years and I finally got moved up to varsity. Let's just say, the pitching is very very very different

A bit late but same here. Played on jv my first two years of hs and missed all of last season due to the pandemic. I’m a senior but I’m finally facing varsity pitching and it’s a big difference. Just having trouble timing up the faster pitching but this video really helps.

@@gabemedina2275 aye bro my tips for you is to just load early and if you take a big front step when you load, don’t do that. You want to have a quick swing to the ball just get the barrel to the ball as quick as possible. Work on timing and catch the ball out in front of the plate should be ur contact point

I came back to revisit because my son just moved up to the bronco league (11/12). We've got a younger team, and our kids are struggling to hit the fast pitchers. And there seem to be a couple on every team. I plan to go over these concepts with them in practice tomorrow! Appreciate it.

One thing that I found helps me to stay loose is before getting into the batters box I throw a few practice swings. Not real ones. Standing straight. Legs not loading or striding. They are staying still. And just casually swing the bat until I feel that I am relaxed and loose.

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining

Ultimate Baseball Training Yeah. It works a lot. I just started playing baseball a couple months ago. With no prior experience as a JR. Its something I've always wanted to try but never had permission until now. I struggled. Not originally making the team but made a deal with the coaches. Baseball was my dream. I would help them out with everything including book keeping and I'll be able to practice with them. By the time the first game came they decided I was ready to play. As a starter. On JV. Right fielder. 9th at bat. I still have a long way to go but your videos have been a great help.

Christian Banks Not on a tee, because its stationary when ur trying to practice a "fast" pitch. A good drill I use is front toss from 10 feet away. It takes quick reactions and takes about the same time as "game speed" w out having to worry about getting hit.

The Basics! Yay. You got these all correct. The only thing I'd add would be to lower your leg kick the faster the pitcher throws. SLIDE BACK A TINY BIT EARLIER FOR LOAD, HOLD A BIT, GLIDE N HYDRO PLANE THE FRONT FOOT FORWARD, THEN FINALLY START SWING DANCE EXPLOSION WHILE PUSHING WITH BACK FOOT, BUGGY WHIPPING YOUR HANDS AND BAT THEN EVER SO LIGHTLY LANDING FRONT FOOT WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY ATTACKING THE BALL WITH A SHORTER PUNCH STROKE!

Hey Coach.. Got any drills to help with staying back and not opening up while my players are swinging? My biggest gripe with some of my players are that they're not staying back and leaning forward

    • @bbarker5766
      @bbarker5766 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Andrew Grignon that is something that takes a while to work out of their swing. My son started creeping forward just a little bit and one thing his hitting coach did was show him some pro players with excellent hitting skills then showed a few videos of my son hitting and explained the differences and what he should be doing. Now mind you my son's movement was so subtle that it wasn't completely obvious what was happening until we recorded him except for a few really bad cases.
This was mid season and he was frustrated not getting good hits then after a few more sessions with the coach to work the links out he finished the reg season strong with .403 BA, .506 OBA, .486 SLG, .996 OPS. In ended post season with .571 BA & SLG, .625 OBA, & .1196 OPS. Once we got him back he was relaxed and driving the balls.
I even went as far as doing vids of our players during a game and showed the ones that was struggling before their next at bat and that helped them a lot. They couldn't figure out what was happening but when you can show them and explain it they can understand better.
Sorry this was so long winded but I hope it helps and Coach Justin thanks for sharing these tips as always excellent video with excellent advice!!!

She has always been very tense and cant relax well now you see her loose and on fire now. If theirs one thing I as a dad would like to see fixed she swings early sometimes and corrects that. But thanks for the videos .

Man I play AAA baseball in Canada, I’ve Struck Out A HELL Ton this year. I think 8 of my last 12 AB’s have been strikeouts. Last year I was an All-Star but this year I’ve been in a huge slump the whole year.. any tips?

Justin, if you're philosophy is driving the curve ball / offspeed pitch the other way then doesn't that mean that you're actually sitting on curve / offspeed? If you're attempting to drive the offspeed stuff the other way, you are going to get BLOWN AWAY on the fast ball. Is it not a better approach with 2 strikes to think fast ball the other way so you are able to adjust / pull the off speed stuff? Please elaborate, in your video it sounds like you are an advocate for hitting the offspeed pitches the other way with 2 strikes.

I'm an advocate for sitting on the fastball and adjusting to off speed. I agree, if you sit on off speed stuff, you'll get blown away by the fastball because you won't have enough time to react! I'm completely okay with hitters taking off speed pitches the other way OR pulling them. It depends on the pitch location. However, I think when hitters recognize off speed, it's good to have the mentality of hitting the ball oppo because it lets the ball travel a little bit longer. Most players are out in front of off speed pitches, so if you think opposite field you'll be more on a time vs. out front. Thanks for the comment and the support!

right on man. I read recently that Hank Aaron was quoted as saying that he NEVER looked fastball, that he always looked curve and adjusted to fastball.....................I love me some Henry Aaron but I think he's talking out his a$$ on this one...........if this is true then it says a lot of the poor pitching he faced during his career...............you can turn on any baseball game and watch a big league player looking for something off speed and getting the express with two strikes and they just get locked up and walk back to the dug out........

Im here because I'm 13 and I'm gonna be playing in a 15-16 year old leauge and they will be pitching like 60-70 but if I hit it it's probably gonna be a home run I almost hit it over the fence when my coach pitched and he didn't even pitch that hard or fast
I know no one is gonna believe me and be like ur 13 u can't do that u can't be that good but I know how good I am and I know how far I hit the ball today so I don't care if u believe or dont believe
