@Ultimate Baseball Training coach Justin, approximately 20:20 into the video you talk about "finishing the swing", that is where I'm having trouble..
Can you please explain what to do in the process of missing the ball/letting the force of the swing go without it pulling you off balance for example: One swing I attempted, spun me in a circle even with a good stance and my Second swing felt like almost dislocated my lead shoulder..
I guess a better way of asking the question is, in the process of "finishing the swing" is there a point where we intentionally end or pull the swing to stop it/slow it down or do we let the swing go without actually letting go of the bat.. 😢

As a mom of an 8-year-old boy who knew nothing about baseball at the start of this season, I think these videos are good for all levels. Moms like me can think of drills or ways to get an 8yo to digest information/techniques that might be slightly above his comprehension, but we have to know the basics and sound advice before we can do that. Following advice mainly from this channel, my boy went from 2nd-to-last in the batting lineup to batting 3/4 as a power hitter this season. That slow-swinging boy with an uptight stance become someone the team grew to count on in close games. Before long, he hit his first home-run and then a grand-slam the next game. Now he hits straight up the middle with line drives and hard ground balls, bringing in runs and getting doubles and triples more often. This was in a matter of weeks! If I were reading this comment 3 months ago, I wouldn't believe it was possible for my son, but a few simple tweaks, some tee drills, and a willing boy with a positive, coachable attitude, and after the 4th game of the season, coach was beginning to notice and compliment him. He gave him the game ball for his marked improvement at the plate. Then he began to move toward the middle and then top of the lineup, as he consistently proved himself. Now at the end of the season, coach recommended he move up to a AA select team. You wouldn't know it watching his first two games, and I would have put money on his first home-run being at least a year away, yet here we are. Thank you so much for these videos! It has been a game-changer for my son!

This is good to read. My 6yo (soon to be 7) is suddenly interested in baseball having never played tee ball or little league. I follow baseball, but never played much after middle school. So as far as technique goes, I know essential nothing to help him figure out how to play. I’ll put these tips to good use.

My husband is coaching our 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son’s baseball team. I played softball into college so I help out when/where I can as well. Here I am up at 1am watching videos on how to help some of the kids hit on the team. Sometimes it’s hard to break down the mechanics of a swing to show them the right way and your videos do a great job! It’s like, “I know how to swing but I’m having a hard time explaining it to kids.” Great video!

The only hitting video I have ever seen that teaches exactly what I teach. Let Me add that, in any good load the front elbow has to get back past the belly button. Instead of a load with a leg kick, I teach, push of the back foot as You stride to balance, the lead foot is only about a half inch off the ground, keeps the head very still. Also, a push load is the best timing stride for a Pitcher trying to slow or speedup His motion. Great video.

I'm going to be fifteen in a few months and I havent played baseball in a few years. I'm thinking about trying out for the highschool team but I was worried because of the time I took off. I can catch and throw pretty well but my at bat has gotten worse ofc. So this tutorial really helps for me to get back in. I'm going to be practicing a lot more now so I can catch up. LIke I said I can throw and catch well and I've always been a really good runner. And I know where the positions are and I know the game still the at bat is just my main worry. But wish me luck!

I finally realized why the knuckle alignment hold advice never made any sense to me. I've always (or used to) grip the bat where my main knuckles aligned (so even further than the "knocking-to-main")--and honestly I might even twist beyond that angle. But then if I slow down my swing and see what I'm doing, I'm rotating my wrists--I'm basically letting go of the bat within my hands--so that by the time I'm hitting the ball, my "knocking" knuckles actually do perfectly align.

This is great stuff. It's a lot of info to digest. How would you go about breaking this down so it can be taught in increments to kids 11 and under? Their attention span can still be short at that age, but they need to learn the fundamentals you're explaining here. Are there aspects of the swing that are more important to teach at a younger age than other parts of the swing? E.g. should young kids focus on working on 2 parts of the swing, versus 4 or 5, all at once.

I notice you use a box type grip opposed to a knuckle to knuckle grip, any thoughts on that. It might have been you explaining it as door knocking knuckles being aligned ( being better) instead of the flats aligning.

  • @jackiesee1907

I have found the best way to reach my 9 year old is to keep it simple - to focus on the hip movement. I get him to keep the bat on his shoulder as long as possible while he launches the hips. The hips bring the shoulders around, the shoulders being the bat, and sometime before the back leg the momentum of the body movement snaps the bat off the shoulder. The bat follows the angle of the shoulders and gets on a good plane with the ball early, and the arms stay connected until swing time. The increase in bat speed from this alone is insane and generates that whip sound. Not sure if this is the right way but might be a starting point for others who are struggling

Man I’m a 15 year old Chilean girl and have always dreamed of playing baseball 😣 unluckily I’m really slow running and there are no baseball courses or leagues in my country, not even for boys and not even softball😔 I’ll try to learn even how to hit though I don’t have a bat, I’ll just get creative and for the ball I could steal my brother’s tennis balls, it’s not the same but that’s what I have I guess

Thank you for video. Info. Especially the grip. This is usually forgotten.
    Two suggestions.
1.). Please tells us your audience. Who are they? 10 year olds? 15 years old? Important because dads try to teach 10 year olds advance techniques and kids don’t even have the proper grip. Or stance. Coaches ask the little kids to pick up foot to “load”. They miss the ball. Advanced tech can wait until older? 12? 14?
2.). Your more effective when you present info without referring to MLB players. You are a gifted communicator. Rely on you knowledge and ability to explain techs. Few have your gift.
Continue the good work. Your channel is a favorite.
    Sincerely
Old Balding Man With Young Son
