      Ultimate baseball!!! As a former player in High school who wanted to play College and wasn't recruited by anyone cause I only played summer league, cause my high school didn't have a team. This was 20 years ago. And I was a deadly switch hitter. Later on I became a high school baseball coach and a college basketball coach. Take a look at Pete. It's like Frank says, it's Church on Baseball!!! th-cam.com/video/Yae1KxRSq0g/w-d-xo.html

    I hit a few in my younger years. I changed my stance sophmore year and noticed a huge power and speed difference once i lowered my hands to my hips more. I completely eliminated having to bring bat off shoulder. 32 now and concept has helped alot in softball keeps a more level upwards swing.

    I love the tip to be more aggressive, as a younger player I was far too passive, let too many pitches go, I was below average in my team and struck out looking far too much. One season, something clicked and I started being aggressive, swinging at anything that I liked the look of (within reason). I improved so much that I won my teams batting average award that season.

      Cobb made it 23 years as a player. In the off season he loaded himself down with hunting gear, and trampled around 12-15 hours a day to keep his body and legs in the premium shape. It was said that it was more exciting watching Ty Cobb get a walk, than it was watching Babe Ruth get a homerun. Cobb once stole 2nd base, 3rd base, and home plate in only (3) pitches. If you think that's impressive, Babe Ruth stole home plate more times than Ricky Henderson. And Cobbs record of stealing home plate (54) times lifetime, has never been broken.
      .367 lifetime batting avg. Like a broken record, has never been broken.
      It was the split grip he used.
      3-4 inch gap left in between both hands. His top hand was already in the "choked up" position for if the pitch was inside. The bottom hand was already in the "stretched out" position for if the ball was pitched outside. During the swing he would decide whether to slide one hand up, or the other hand down, depending on the ball's placement in the strike zone. No one did this, before or after, and it gave him a clear advantage over every other hitter.

    Absolutely love the video! It's really going to be a game changer for our team next season. I also have a question in mind that I wanted to ask you, justin.
    When I was playing summer ball this year, my coach said I have a great handle on the fundamental, but my mechanics make me look like a robot during game time. When it comes to fielding and hitting, what would be your advice to not looking like a robot?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining
      @UltimateBaseballTraining  6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I'm glad to hear you love the video! Thanks for watching! I think we tend to look like a robot when we're too focused on mechanics. So for example, when you're hitting - you shouldn't be thinking, "okay, I've gotta load... then stride... then swing... oh! Don't forget to follow through!" That's too much to think about and you'll look like a robot. You've got to be athletic, free, and easy. So mechanics are for practice. In a real game, forget about mechanics and just compete! Trust that the hard work you've done up to this point will pay off.

    Question, in regards to point 2. If the barrel drops behind you , wont that create bat drag?

    • @UltimateBaseballTraining

      Bat drag only happens when your back elbow wins the race and gets ahead of the knob of the bat. As long as the knob is still winning the race, you're all set!

      Ultimate Baseball Training oh it was the worst umpired game I’ve ever coached. My top 3 pitchers couldn’t get a strike called regardless of how perfect the pitch was. I asked where the strike zone is. Got threatened and warned. Parents were cursing out the umpire.
      Doesn’t matter we lost. And what I told my team was it wasn’t the umpire. We can never leave the game in his hands. We didn’t bat and play at the level we are capable of. So we lost I told them.
      Then I told them good. They all looked at my like I was crazy. I explained to them that every time we have a problem, play bad, get beat we are given an opportunity to learn and get better. So the next time they see us they will get a different animal.
      We have to play tonight because it is a double elimination tournament. We win tonight then we play the team that beat us yesterday. Time to get after it tonight.

    Can I use a resistance band instead of a medicine ball

    • @midnightflyer7510
      @midnightflyer7510 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Although resistance bands are great, it’s hard to simulate the explosiveness that throwing a med ball accomplishes. The goal is to target your fast twitch muscle fibers. These fibers are best activated through explosive movements. Throwing a med ball with a lot of force accomplishes this. Muscles are divided largely between fast twitch and slow twitch fibers. Fast twitch are recruited for quick, powerful contractions, like the rotational force in a baseball swing, where as slow twitch handle the more long distance, aerobic type movements. I suppose you could be explosive with the bands like quick torso rotations if that’s what you’re limited to, but if you can, try the ball.

    JustinYou talk about getting "on plane", but how am I suppose to have any "barrell adjustment " as the pitch is on the way? Particuarly with 2 seam FB's and breaking balls? I have found that "getting on plane" , as you demonstrate, is good if I am only hitting FB's , but once a pitcher mixes in different pitches and my barrell is below my hands as seen in your video when you demonstrated it , I have a lot of swing and miss. I may have more bat speed, but my consistency in barrelling the ball is now terrible. Thoughts?

    • @johnwilson6319
      @johnwilson6319 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope you look back and read this all of the get on plane with the pitch stuff is based on Ted Williams statement but take a closer look at that he is in my opinion talking about the optimum pitch to hit so your approach should be to move into your best desirable pitch to hit be long in the hitting zone into a flatter plane but you want to move the barrel to contact and extension in a fluid movement up the PATH of the ball why? Because the pitcher is throwing it on all kinds of paths and sometimes your long through that path and drive out doubles and home runs but sometimes you may have to react and bop out a single pitchers job is not to say take me down town so you look for damage but adjust if need be react to what he gives you some guys such as a Rod Carew made a science of this a Pete Rose as compared to a Mark Mcquire type or whoever today a Miguel Cabrera would be a good example today of power and average hitter so many different types

  • @rjb7569
    @rjb7569 5 ปีที่แล้ว +62

    Remember this, my fellow Hall of Fame candidates: The faster a pitcher is, the more relaxed you may need to be. Tension tightens it all up and can...slow your swing down.
    Take a deep breath...focus = tunnel vision.

    Hey man, I like you and your videos, I've watched a few tonight and it's good stuff... and I should mention that I've played the game of baseball at a very high level ...but the whipping the bat in this video is not the way to teach players to hit better. That whip will do more damage to a player's swing than help it. It didn't seem like you thought that one through and if so, then I'd like to see you hit a ball off that tee using that whipping swing. Good videos though, keep up the good work :)

    • @krillep280

      How does it do more damage to the player's swing, that he's slightly moving it? It's better to be in slight movement with the bat, than be completely stationary.

    Two years late, but, I'm 13. I crush the ball but when I rewatch the videos my mom records of me, my bat speed is so slow, and I'm surprised I can hit it as hard as I do. Thanks for the tips!

    I am surprised you didn't mention this...When I was playing baseball
    I immediately increased my bat speed by going to a significantly lighter bat!!

      With a lighter bat though you dont get that much power.
      If you want a lot of power i would reccomend a drop 5

    Plus look at Pete Rose how he moved up in the box, back in the box, across the box by taking notes on the pitcher (s) . It's all in your hands.

    Great coaching tips! I'd also strongly suggest to emulate the greatest hitter of all time, Barry Bonds. He swung the lightest bat possible AND choked up!!
    Most of y'all are swinging too big of a bat!
    That's a fact,,

      Yes it’s for multiple things like when u lose your knuckles when u get jammed and or hit the ball on the end of the bat... also for vibration which causes pain. Basically in case the barrel misses. So do everything he’s saying and remember to get hard barrels...

      A lighter bat is better, and will generate much greater bat speed. Watch a Tony Gwynn video. It's all in bat speed. Some say Ruth swung a 54 ounch bat. His granddaughter says 36-44 ounce.
      But, I bet my wooden nickel he hit the ball further with a 36, than a 54.

      here's a free tip:
      start the season with a big heavy long bat, as the season progresses begin changing bats smaller and lighter in size. #strength #power #speed #timing

    Allot of Good points , I would add one more valuable exercise or training Technic . I do speed swing training to help exercise and build / develop fast twitch muscles . I took a old broom handle ( mine is actually aluminum old broom handle ) , and a broken composite bat . Took the composite bat cut it off about 12 inches down from knob ( The knob and neck is what you need ) , inserted the broom handle as far as you can and J B welded it in place .( This gives you the feel of a actually bat handle in your hands ) Measured the length of it and cut it off the exact length of a regular size bat I use ( round off end if desired ) . Use your exact same swing and swing as fast as you possibly can , this will train your fast twitch muscles to respond quicker . Do this in sets of 10 or 12 multiple times daily . Liked your Babe hitting Technic video .
