Fender Pro Reverb 70W 1980

I finished restoring my 1980 Fender Pro Reverb. This is the 70W push/pull Master Volume model, export version with the voltage selector switch on the back for use with different mains. I replaced all of the carbon comp resistors that were out of spec with metal film because they can take more of a beating and all of the film capacitors. I also put in new Jensen C12 speakers and tamed most of the noise.
It's now much quieter and has a long life ahead of it.

I like these amps, but I hate when I see the word "pro" in any name. It sugest that if you're not a professional musician then you have no business playing through it. Maybe it means they want you to feel better about it.

I have the same model which I’ve had for 25 years. I don’t think anything in it has been replaced. It does have a loud buzz however….when the guitar is plugged in. Unfortunately I haven’t a clue about electronics….and I’m too old to even lift the thing! Wish I had your expertise 👍🍷….

I thought there was a knob on the back for adjusting the difference in the bias of the two power tubes. Adjust it for lowest noise. If it hasn't been serviced, the filter caps definitely are due for replacing. Tube amps are extremely dangerous to work on. They have voltages around 500v that can stop your heart instantly, and permanently. Best to take it to a tech.

I would actually love to hear you engage the master volume which you said in your last video about this amp was like a crude drive circuit. Is there anyway you could eventually demonstrate how you can drive both channels by setting the master volume?

What wattage are the Jensen's?

They're 8Ω 50W so 4Ω 100W in parallel for the amp. The model is Jensen C12N 12" 50W 8 Ohm
