I read another PetaPixel article this afternoon, published on December 20th, of an interview with Fujifilm executive Theo Georgiades, general manager of Fujifilm Imaging Solutions UK, discussing Fujifilm’s product strategy, and the resurgence of film photography, among other things. The majority of the discussion concentrated on the X100 and GFX series of digital gear, but Mr. Georgiades was quoted as saying “Never say never..” in response to a question about Fuji’s possible plans for new film cameras or products this coming year. To me, that’s a little encouraging..🤞
The proposed Analog Amsterdam camera, per here and their website, looks like it has it all the right stuff in the right places. The price is rational. After looking at how far short of implied promises of features and quality the Pentax and Mint offerings of 2024 fell, I don't plan to take advantage of their 15%% pre-order discount. Others can walk the bleeding edge between hype and delivery. At least it's not being funded off Kickstarter or made in a Chinese garage (?). The production timetable seems overly ambitious. Since they have not yet faced problems of tooling up or production of a prototype, I won't hold my breath on timeline or price. (Lessons learned as a LabBox backer.) The 35mm 2.8 Double Gauss design lens certainly is a big offer of quality. (But who is making it for them? A large Dutch film retailer in Amsterdam does just wake up one day a say, "Heh Gang, let's make a world-class 35mm lens for that new camera we hope to produce", and then do it.)
@@anadexis9403in the world of Graflex SLR's that's actually quite reasonable. I spent about $1000 to buy a 3x4 Series D, convert it to a graflok back, and get a lens which is on the cheaper end. Aero Liberators can easily run you $10k just to use the aero ektar. I think the Smartflex is a good inbetween as a prosumer large format camera. they apparently have the means to scale up as well so I wouldn't be surprised if they did a 5x7 slr as well. other than the one downside being a 1/15 flash sync I think they're superior for portable portraiture and landscape
I don't see all of your videos but have you talked about or seen the Smartflex 4x5 camera? The kick starter just began yesterday I believe and it looks incredible imo! Its 4x5 and expensive but looks worthy of that price at least in terms of results who knows how quality the build will be, thats what I worry about the most when spending that much on cameras like that. Especially with typically no type of warranty if it breaks.
I haven’t seen a lot of camera news this year so I was interested to hear your summary. Im not a huge fan of Petapixel, but you spent so much time dumping on their article I went and read it, and learned a lot of things I could have learned from you 🤷♂️
@@thomasa.243certainly feels like it. P33 hasnt been restocked in almost a year and their last instagram post was June. Nobody has been able to get a response from them for months.
bro youre my favorite film youtuber rn. mostly in regards to your news. its so very helpful and i appreciate u so much!

I saw that too, I’m tempting to make a video addressing it as well because I feel like the headline is a little misleading

the Smartflex Kickstarter has been funded 300% so that's also something we're getting next year
I thought about getting one, but the 2913$ price tag is very steep. ended up getting a Zone VI for a fraction of the price.

That poor cactus.

I did make a very similar video a couple weeks ago summarizing the news of 2024 but I’m glad you learned some stuff!
Loving my Reveni Labs camera tester!
Any news is typically good news, but I am always hopeful for a new film camera release from some of the major manufacturers.
There is also a 4x5 SLR on kickstarter.
Grind don’t stop, baby!
Heck yeah cheeto fingers 😎
One small detail: the Analog Amsterdam is made in China.
Aren't they all! Injection molding is pretty much the same wherever you go.
I was excited for the pentax 17 stuff, till i seen how poorly the "leather" half case fits around the grip - that is a big nope for me.
Is that new Mexico?
Close, AZ!
Sucks that P33 came out just before Ferrania shut down :/
Have they though? I haven’t seen any official announcement yet…

Nice looking camera but you should always mention that the Trump Tariffs next year could make the prices higher.
I don't trust that new analog camera. It's website design is so much ripped from Apple. That smells soo bad and fake.
Compared to the 2024 offerings, it does seem to offer a lot more for a lot less. Maybe what seems to be too good to be true won't be this time.
