    Thank you for supporting children being with their biological family. My brother was homeless and had a substance abuse problem when he had his daughter. He didn’t tell us he had a child. She is 2 years old we just found out about her existing. We are trying to get her back

      Reunification is definitely supposed to be the goal whenever possible! If she hasn’t already been adopted, then you stand a chance!

    My husband and I are finishing our foster certification now and we’re LA-based, too. Your videos are helping me prep immensely! Thank you for taking the time to make them. I’ll be sharing this one specifically with friends & family to help them understand our role in all of this. Best wishes, be well and stay safe! :)

    I'm in your same boat right now. We've had our Foster Son for two months and we love him so much. We're getting our minds wrapped around preparing for him to go back to his parents. We don't have a date but maybe in another six weeks. We got him two days before he turned 4 months and now he's six months. We've been doing all the milestone things with him which is causing the attachment to be greater. But we love everything moment.

      It's so hard! But I always tell myself he will leave in a much better situation than when he arrived, and I'll have the milestones to remember him by!

      @@talibhawilliams1247 Oh my goodness, how long have you been currently waiting? That's the hardest part, I think! Although, after officially getting licensed, I didn't have to wait long for Buster :P

    We don’t get babies in our county very often. We got a two month old in angst 2019. Everything has been really drug out and we are just now getting to the adoption stage.

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs

      LA county unfortunately gets a lot of infants. Fingers crossed everything goes well for you! That timeline is considered incredibly fast where I am-our course system is incredibly slow.

      Angela Dee Vlogs we are in quite a different situation from yours. I really enjoy your videos; we were emergency certified for our little guy and it’s been a roller coaster but it’s definitely a wonderful experience and your doing a great job!

    LOVE your vlogs!! Thank you for acknowledging that children of color are removed from their families at a higher rate than white kiddos. I was a parent coach in communities experiencing disenfranchisement in a multitude of ways and really got an inside look on how monetarily beneficial it was for the systems of oppression to keep families "down" instead of offering resources they need.

    When you get them from the hospital, what’s the process? Are you able to hold them & do skin to skin and have the nurses tell you everything they know about the baby? Do they check that you have the proper car seat? They would have to have formula theyve already give them, etc. How much info do you get?

    Watching this one again as well...I'm a resource parent in DC...and the not knowing part is depressing... anything could happen and you have zero say so...

    Would you want to adopt him if parental rights are terminated and he is elegible?

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure--next in line after the parents is biological family, though. So they'd have adoption preference.

    Hello. I'm in tears right now because my parents just told me i'm going to foster care. I'm weak, vulnerable, confused, afraid and overall worried. I love my parents but sometimes I feel uncomfortable, timid, and intimidated around my parents. I need help. I need guidance. I need advice. If you could provide, thank you.

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh my! I’m so sorry you’re going through this!
      I’m a foster mom to babies, so I don’t have much insight. Make sure you have the phone number for your case worker (also called a social worker) as they’re the ones that’ll be looking after you and checking up on your foster family to make sure everything is ok.
      Good luck! Thinking of you and wishing you the best!

    Do the bio parents get to have contact with you and their kid. Like visits, calls, video calls. Or are they cut off from direct contact?

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do! It’s called family time. When we aren’t social distancing, it’s all in person. I know right now a lot of places are just doing virtual.

    Foster families who have a bond SHOULD have preferences! We need to get the laws adjusted.

    • @AngelaDeeVlogs
      @AngelaDeeVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Situationally, I definitely agree. Especially for those foster parents that have literally had children in their homes for YEARS.

    • @rebeccamarie8904
      @rebeccamarie8904 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A foster family should not come before biological family that is fit to care for a child.
