Jeffrey Teeselink The fun fact is that Jackie Gleason wasn't really confortable with all the cussing, even though they let him adlib something like 80% of his lines.
Jerry Reed gets beat up by a motorcycle gang at a bar after one claims his dog bit him. Then Jerry destroys all their motorcycles with his 18 wheeler. That still gets me every time.

My mom and my great aunt took me to see this the weekend it opened. I was 10 years old. It was funny then but as I got older and continued to watch it regularly (as any normal Southerner does) it just got funnier as I caught all the adult humor I missed as a kid. I too use these quotes on a daily basis. It’s part of my DNA.
The scene of him holding up his fingers for a cigerette and the son…just….gives it to him. Iconic
🫡😂🤣😂🤣
Backwards at that
Mike Henry played a good inept goofball idiot. His real voice made his character very convincing.
Then holding that lighter up and....."click".
Best Scene is the El Diablo
You have to give props to Mike Henry playing the role of Junior. He was an excellent sidekick for Jackie Gleason.
Henry played Tarzan in the 1960's. He turned down the tv role that went to Ron Ely/ He was Donald Penobscot on M*A*S*H. He died from complications of Parkinson's and CTE, the football brain disease.

Damn well edited. And, would someone please tell me why wasn't at least nominated for an Oscar.
Buford T. Justice is one of the most underrated movie villains ever. RIP Jackie Gleason.
I think a better word is "antagonist". Villain would have to be an evil character and I wouldn't really call him evil.
I'd say futurist. Power abusive cops, who knew.
I wouldn't say villain.
Fuck you mean he made the movies what they are,
Jackie Gleason was a tremendous artist, and he killed it in the Smokey series.
Only in the original
"When I get home, the first thing I'm gonna do is punch your mama in the mouth..."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was always my dad's favorite line.
"There is no way, NO WAY, that you came from my loins"
My favorite line. One of many
My dad's too lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
+1😆
I have this on Bluray Disc and it's like being back in the theater every time I watch it. Jackie Gleason's performance is the benchmark for comedic perfection!
No one could say “sumbitch” like Jackie Gleason.
Bitch + Bitch = Sumbitch
That is how I say that to this day. Since I saw that movie when I was a teenager.
We miss these wonderful happy men who entertained us mightily. They were irreplaceable and missed and ever shall be!!!
Indeed
I can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Academy Award for this role
My late pops and I always had a good time watching this movie. He loved Jackie
One of the funniest bastards to ever live. Classic shit.
Brian Viera The GREAT ONE !!!!!
No actor/comedian could have played Buford T Justice like Jackie Gleason. According to Burt Reynolds; Jackie adlibed many of his lines and consulted throughout the movie at the request of Burt.
+Tarn Sand Not a bit surprised, and that made the movie so much better!
+Tarn Sand Too bad the sum bitch smoked 5 packs a day :/
Junior: [waiting for the "funeral procession] Damn, he had a lot of friends, didn't he?
Buford T. Justice: If they'd a cremated the sum-bitch. I could be kickin' that Mr. Bandit's ass around the moon by now.
Rest in peace
AMEN !!!! May he R I P .....
J.W. pepper is the only one who could come close. But yes I agree.
Without question, Buford T Justice is one of the single greatest bit part roles in the history of cinema. Jackie Gleason is a legend.
Bit part? Not by a longshot. Big and Little Enos could be considered as bit parts.
At my great aunts funeral me my pops my mom and my grandmother were in the procession....it was taking forever. My mom said " if they had cremated the sombitch, I'd be kicking Mr. Bandits ass around the moon by now." My parents laughed for hours after that. I didn't know where it was from til they had me watch this. This movie is funny af. Jackie Gleason is a genius.
Without Jackie all the Smoky shows would have been a flop. He was the man
right!
You're exactly right. The dude was insanely funny, what a freaking character.
he was just as important as burt sally jerry@@jmangi6221
As good as he is that third smokey and the bandit movie could have destroyed the first two it was so bad.
screw you part 2 sucked I dont want to see a real life couple yell at ear other once they broke up they should have gotten another girl and the story she would try to marry jr again what is she a moron the plot sucked made him ook like and unlikable bum it stank a least paart 3 had more jackie gleason in it@@scottharman110
"My hat flew off, Daddy!"

My favorite line. Wonder if he add libbed it
Then, "top come off Daddy" "No Shit"
Good call! Now I wonder. I'm sure he ad-libbed a lot. ✴
Loved watching this with my Dad. God rest his soul.
This was a favorite of my daddy's and we watched it on a regular basis.
I.m 63 now, and this was my dad's favorite movie too. I guess he identified with the Gleason character
yep me too the only film where both Dad and I lost complete control of our senses.....love you Dad
Me and my Dad still watch this from time to time.
"HOLD UP ON THAT CAR WASH GENTLEMEN "
BACK WHEN MOVIES WERE GOOD,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, RIP
all modern movies are so boring id rather watch sky news.
the difference is in the past movies showed us real imagery of things,
now all we get is cgi computer game bs.
Gleason was the real star of this movie to me
"Her knockers bouncin' all over the JOINT" !! LMAO.
@@scdevon Every line he ever said WAS FUNNY!
Her ass was wigglin, too!
Classic Gleason. This movie wouldn't be half as good without Jackie.
@Greg Tastad This is why he was called the Great One.
@warptek: Even Burt Reynolds acknowledged that.
Imagine the Bandit just being chased by some generic, faceless, bland cops? That wouldn't have been anywhere near as entertaining. In any good movie we need a good antagonist.
My grandpa I miss him. He was just like Jackie Gleason hilarious man.
He should have gotten an Oscar for that role.
Perfect roles for the perfect cast at the perfect time. This movie was like capturing lightning in a bottle.
I remember watching Smokey and the Bandit as a kid. Now when I see it, I realize it was Jackie Gleason who made this movie. Who else could say "Sumbitch" like him?
Jeffrey Teeselink The fun fact is that Jackie Gleason wasn't really confortable with all the cussing, even though they let him adlib something like 80% of his lines.
You mean like "Possum's pecker?" RIP Jackie
"Tick Turd"?
Jeffrey Teeselink GOOD SHIT!!! Lol!
"Poontanging around." Then smiles
This reminds me of my grandpa. Watched this at his house as a tot in the 80s/90s and loved Gleason every bit. What a great time!
Jerry Reed gets beat up by a motorcycle gang at a bar after one claims his dog bit him. Then Jerry destroys all their motorcycles with his 18 wheeler. That still gets me every time.
Same here. Old "Cleetus" bruised up from his beat down by the bikers slowly gets in his cab. Cranks the engine. Peers ahead. A sly grin comes across his face. Then he drives his 18 wheeler over the parked cycles.
:)
Yep! And that Glowing Smile is why they called him The Snow Man! Hahahahaaa!! Classic movie all the way through!
Jerry Reed had the last laugh
“Far Out” 😅
I did the same thing for real in Texas about 14 years ago. I was jumped by some young thugs. Because of my sticker on my truck. I got a 12000.00 dollar fine. But it was worth every damn penny. As a V. P of a club. We respect other peoples right. to any patch or stickers. But we can voice our opinions.. We will not fight 15 on 1. That's a bunch of punk ass bitches.. I'm still free to fly any flag or any sticker I want to.

I live in Oklahoma and everytime we visit family in Alabama.People there are always so friendly, the culture of the south has that southern hospitality. And most of all, they know what respect is to their elders. Not like the kids are today,I was raised to say yes sir and no mam when talking to someone. People in the south have always been very respectful.😊😊
Yeah but who wants to respect boomers. I will respect someone from the traditional generation but a fucking boomer. Go fuck yourself.

@Lance - "Nice ass." It's been so long since I heard it that way I had forgotten about it. I guess the last few times I've seen this movie was on TV and he says, "Nice lady."
"So you boys just stay here and keep your hands on the car until one of my associates arrives. And don't go home. And don't go to eat. And don't play with yourself. Wouldn't look nice on my highway"
Jackie Gleason !!!!!
Dude should have gotten an Oscar!
you can think about it but don't do it!
....you might want to think about it, but don't do it..
Sheriff Buford:"Hold it Hold it don't ever ever raise your voice to me...do you know who you are talking to?"
"Put the evidence in the car" "but daddy but but" "PUT THE EVIDENCE IN THE CAR" 😂😂😂 that cracks me up every time

Never ever in the history of film was there ever an actor/actress more suited to a role as this!
R.Lee Ermy as Gunnery sergeant Hartman
@@ashleyernst2416 he was an actual drill sergeant in the marines before he did film/tv so he was in the role already

John Barton great memories 👍 keep pass'n it on👍🤣 hopefully your son will pass it down to his child 😄

"you sounded a little taller on the radio"
I remember it "You sounded a little whiter on the radio."
I remember Jackie saying “ a lot whiter’ as well. Nobody believes me!
Jd that was the joke, it was a way to say the sheriff sounded like a white sheriff, without making it a “racist” joke! I’ve gotten a few double takes after showing up to a job interview after an initial phone call. I too sound “taller” on the phone! 😉

"The goddamn Germans got nothing to do with it!"
That line just breaks me up every time
There is no way. No WAY that you come from my loins.
funny fact: he actually was german... but under cover. smart. yes, we are.
Jackie Gleason wasn't German, lol. Both his parents were Irish, and Gleason is as Irish as it gets...
"Shut up... one shit at a time!!"
Muffled Laughter.
Absolutely some of the best comedy the world has ever seen. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I could not possibly think of anyone more legendary that Sheriff Buford “T” Justice played by Jackie Gleeson , no way man , I do remember when I a kid in the very early 80’s with all my family one of the few moments we’ve had that we all together watching him and laughing our pants out .... absolutely spotless acting, he steals the show , and we get Burt with his Trans Am all his undisputed number 1 charisma and Jerry Reed with his music and and his legendary role of “Snowman “ and there’s Sally Field , man this was 70’s and 80’s very finest.... the chemistry here is out of this orbit out of this realm .... this movie became real to our lives , this movie is so Powerful that we do remember them as part of our lives and they characters took life forms into our deepest memories.
Bless y’all from this movie, thank you for the best memories I’ve ever heard , I became a truck driver and cowboy enthusiasts because this movie and the characters.
One of my greatest influences in my lifetime , I’ve got all the hats , all the boots , cowboy shirt and Native American Indian jewellery from the characters like Burt and Jerry Reed I still dress up like this up to today .
Bless y’all dearest American heroes T justice , Snowman and The Bandit and Froggy
"Set up a road block, good idea, what the hell you know" thats my favourite lines from the film haha
"I happened to have my young son in the car!" His son is like 40!
Lol
Lol
I was getting a cussing one time due to road rage. Before I knew it , I was telling the dude, I would appreciated it if he watched his language with my young son in the car....my son was in his 30's at the time.
Not only that but he'd already swore about 20 times himself
@@Visionary_Watcher That was the funniest thing about it!
no one could've play the SHERIFF but Jackie Gleeson
I couldn't agree more! what a great actor. I don't think any actor today could come close to Jackie! excellence!
You think that is why he died in 1987 for being so angry in these movies.
This movie would have been nothing without him
NNNIIINNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO COULD HAVE!
So true legend
Sheriff Buford T. Justice: "Let me have a Diablo Sandwich, a Dr. Pepper and make it fast--I'm in a goddamn hurray!". LOL!
I need find out what this "Diablo sandwich" is about every time that word appears.
@ Michael D. Durham. A "Diablo" sandwich is what in the Northern USA is called a "Sloppy Joe" sandwich which is ground up hamburger meat mixed in a barbecue sauce and then placed between a hamburger bun. When I was in school they would frequently serve "Sloppy Joe" sandwiches for lunch in the school cafeteria.
@ Michael D. Durham. Why that sandwich is called a "Sloppy Joe" I have no idea.
@@michaelbarlow6610 Ah, ok.
@@greenmask111893 The Diablo sandwich is a delicious combination of beef, tomato sauce and sour crème.
Was Gleason absolutely brilliant in this role or what? Genius performance!
Anyone who loves Jackie should read the biography, "How Sweet It Is". Jackie had a depth most never saw. A genius on many levels.
