Smokey and the Bandit is great movie! One of the destroyers I served aboard was the USS Sampson (DDG-10). In the Navy, after refueling from a support ship, the receiving combatant pulls away at a high speed and usually had a "break-away" song that is played over the ship's 1MC (ship-wide loudspeaker). These actors enjoyed performing for the people and never took themselves too seriously
Good old times
I know Hal Needum and Jerry Reed were busting out laughing when Jackie Gleason walked in there 🤣 😂 😆 😄 😅 🤔 🤣 😂 😆
Loved Jackie. Loved everything he did, including his music. My dad rarely watched movies but Smokey and the Bandit was one we enjoyed watching together. I bought a '78 Trans Am after I graduated college. My dad had to pick it up for me as I was working. I don't think I ever saw a bigger grin on his face while driving it.
@@bullbaylissMusic unfortunately not. After our daughter was born it was hard to navigate a car seat out of it. LOL. It broke my heart to sell it but it was just getting to the point where it was going to need a little work, including new seals for the T- tops as it was just starting to leak. But it was a looker and a conversation piece every time I pulled up to the pump to get gas. I constantly had people putting a note on my windshield asking me to contact them if I ever decided to sell it. I may find one again one day if the opportunity is right. They were fun to drive.
Smokey and the Bandit was a classic film. Non - stop comedy. They do not make films like that anymore.
That was beautiful. Jackie Gleason was raw talent.
OMG SOOO FUNNY. GREAT MOVIE AND A HELL OF A SOUNDTRACK. JACKIE GLEASON'S VOICE IS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF A KIND. THERE'S NO MISTAKING IT, EVER. 😂😂😂
Man when I saw him hold that cigarette like he does and angles his neck with that southern drawl I was done and could not stop laughing😂❤
Ha ha superb, he is a legend
@@bullbaylissMusic He was the greatest Great One that ever was.
Jackie Gleason carried that movie. Just as Eli Wallach carried The Good the Bad and the Ugly. And just as great villains make the movie even better.
I agree with the second movie you mention.
Agree
Smokey and the bandit never gets old I watched it again the other day laughed like first time I seen it. Even though I have most of lines memorized by now.
''let me have a DIABLO sandwich and a DOCTOR PEPPER and make it fast, i'm in a GOD-DAMNED hurry''!.
@@bullbaylissMusic Hushpuppies too?
@@Serpentsevensix we got no time for that crapppp!
Nice lady
I just realized that that is suicide, lol. Hot and fizzy just don't mix.
Now where's the can? I gotta take a squirt
The way those played off each other was pure comedic magic ✨😅😂.
This video made my week. Smokey and The Bandit was my all-time favorite movie growing up and Jackie Gleason was my favorite actor. He was one of a kind and made that movie what it was.
Love Smokey and the bandit and cannonball run
Anything Jackie Gleason did... PURE GOLD!
You don't get comedy greats like this anymore, -|- Rest In Peace Jackie Gleason & Burt Reynolds -|- sadly gone but will never be forgotten
I agree totally
Oh yeah
This is just a small reminder why Jackie Gleason was known as "The Great One".
Yes he was great he had great comedy timing even the honeymooners
How sweet it is!
Absolutely epic cameo. We all love Burt Reynolds, but Jackie Gleason was the Great One.
Legend time of tv. Legend actors. Legend movie
Beautiful RIP Jackie Gleason Burt Reynolds Jerry Reed
That was one hell of a movie 🍿🎥, one of the best I've ever seen, Burt Reynolds and Jackie Gleason took the cake on that one, excellent movie 🍿🎥
When he left..Jr. should have ran on in yelling. “Daddy wait for me! Don’t leave me! who’s gonna hold your hat”
Which is still to date one of the greatest lines to end a movie..of all time!
Can you imagine Hollywood making that film now, I can't, the pc brigade would have a field day Smokey and the bandit one of the best films ever made rip to all who are no longer with us
@@bullbaylissMusic great program, I will give you another, "one love thy neighbor"would never be made what makes it funny is the cast where the best of friends
"you...uhhhh..sounded taller on the radio"
@@bullbaylissMusic The irony is that humor is the one thing that can actually bring us together. I very much agree with Bob Newhart who said, "The problem is that we live in an uptight country. Why don’t we just laugh at ourselves? We are funny. Gays are funny. Straights are funny. Women are funny. Men are funny. We are all funny, and we all do funny things. Let’s laugh about it.”
@@daffytree2605 The whole point of Alf Garnet ('Til Death Us Do Part) and Love Thy Neighbour was to poke fun at racists and bigots but the PC/woke brigade of today do not recognise this as they have no sense of humour.
@@ChiefWizard666 you speak wise words,it did poke fun at the racist's unfortunately the likes of certain left wing politician's believe that by poking fun at the racist's,you were infact a racist, this for my part and I would think yours is not the case.
We met Jackie Gleason in Reno, Nevada he and his friends were sat next to us at the Casino Restaurant where we were dining, he said hello right away and was very friendly, and asked where were from and so on, we told him were from Reno and Lake Tahoe Area, he was impressed by that and said he loved Incline Village North Shore Lake Tahoe, I explained to him thats where we are from, he was impressed again, told us our dinner and our bar tab was on him, and told us he was happy to do it for us, I'll never forget that and how friendly he was.
I'm dying here!!! I loved Smoky & The Bandit!! Burt, & Jerry were great, but Jackie Gleason brought it rolling into awesome!!
Talk about offended. Imagine Don Rickles at one of the Dean Martin roasts. Those day's a joke was a joke. No one got offended. Now as for Burt. I remember when he was king of the box office. And those bandit movies. Those were good times. Burts laugh used to crack up the whole theater. Man in the 70s we had great actor's, movies, music, fast cars hot chicks. We had it all. ☮️✌️🕊️🤟
You can add the Cannonball Movies to that list. Especially the banter between Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.
@@mike89128 yes Burt was king back then. How about him with Dom Deluise in The End. There's outtakes here on TH-cam LOL 😄
I love Jackie. Man, why tv had to change. RIP Burt and Jackie. 2 legends!
I shed a tear seeing the greats like this, NEVER TO BE REPLACED 👈😓
Grew up in the 70s at the drive ins every weekend with my family watching great movies like this. I was so lucky. This cast and many more will always be in my memory, Thank You All.
Oh I would have loved that
Me, my Brothers, and my Dad especially loved watching Smoky & the Bandit! We gotta kick outta watching this show! Happy Father's Day to all gentlemen who enjoyed watching this show as well! Oh, to the ladies my Mom & Sister also watched this show and enjoyed it too!
Thanks fella
It showed the true professional in Jackie. He stayed in perfect character and not laugh when everyone else was cracking up.
Agree. He was so fantastic at that.
@@bullbaylissMusic also not everyone knows this. When Jackie was cast as Buford. He learned Burt’s father was a real life small town sheriff. He asked Burt for advice on how his dad would handle situations to get a sense of how to get into character. After production; Jackie asked Burt how he did? Burt gave him the highest compliment he could. Told Jackie he did a spot on intimation of his father when he was sheriff of his home town and county growing up.
Pure gold...he didn't even look at Burt, not once at the end. So great...
I had the movie on DVD 10 years ago and Jackie's character was a laugh. I remember the black getaway car in Smokey and the Bandit it was nice. RIP. Gleason and Burt Reynolds.
There’s some real stars in that room ...great stuff ..never to be repeated..good times
looks like Erik Estrada in the beginning
Looks a good night
Smokey and the Bandit is great movie!
One of the destroyers I served aboard was the USS Sampson (DDG-10). In the Navy, after refueling from a support ship, the receiving combatant pulls away at a high speed and usually had a "break-away" song that is played over the ship's 1MC (ship-wide loudspeaker). Our Skipper would order up flank speed and as we pulled away from the supply ship we'd blast out "East Bound and Down"! Awesome; we loved it!
Wow never seen this before. So awesome. Movies just ain’t the same anymore. 70s 80s and even a part of the 90s were great decades for movies.
RIP Jackie and Burt
The best times for movies. Now they seem to have ran out of ideas and making reboots all the time or a film which blatantly don’t have a single ideas of its own
Shortly after this great American classic was released, I read that Jackie turned down the part at first and I can't think of ANYONE who could have played his part. HE NAILED IT!!!
I read that Burt Reynolds demanded that Jackie Gleason get the part of Sheriff Justice, or he would not do the movie.
You never know
Jackie Gleason's sense of comedic timing was skillfully amazing. Sure, Burt Reynolds was the star of "Smokey and the Bandit" but Gleason, with a voice inflection, raised eyebrow, a pull on his cigarette and a look added that superb touch of humor. I can just imagine the outtakes.
Jackie Gleason stole that Movie....every scene he was in. He was the Movie
Brilliant pure Jackie. What a time in Hollywood. To add, one of the funniest things i've ever seen and some lovely piano also.
Many thanks!
GOD BLESS JERRY REED. HIS SOUNDTRACK IS LEGENDARY. KEEP IT COUNTRY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS. 🏴🤠👍🇺🇸
One of my favorites is Amos Moses
This was the only time I really cracked up watching Jackie Gleason, and he was perfectly cast for this part. "You some bit**".
Me and my buddies, at 19-20, quoted this movie for aboout 2 years.
"Look Daddy, an Alligator!"
"That reminds me to call your Mamma...."
Dats baby piss compared to what this mainyack is doin....
@@Woody-nc1ru the goddam germans got nothing to do with it.
Awesome words right
Burt, Jerry, and Jackie were more than just badasses back then. They are legends.
Your welcome!
A super star studded cast and crew
Indeed!
Burt and Jackie brought the best out of each other, while performing the script and even this appearance
They defo worked well together
First film was ad libed. Burt threw out the script. 2nd film had a script.
Love these movies
