I’m 5’6’’ in a family where almost everyone including the women are in the 5’10’’-6’6’’ range. I was always self conscious about it until my personality seemed to make up for it! And I’m dating a girl whose about 5’3’’ so that worked out pretty well!
I interpret her asking to be a form of consideration. Sure it may bring attention to something he’s possibly insecure about, but it would be ignorant to think people don’t already know the subject of his possible insecurity. In other words, it’s already obvious that he’s short, so bringing attention to it isn’t doing any harm. But asking him his view on the subject is taking his feelings directly in to account. This is also from the perspective of a man who is 5”4’
Danny is such a legend, heartwarming to imagine the shortest and tallest kids together on a date! he is looking great for his age too, especially compared to other famous actors of his era.
When I was in high school, I was bothered by being 5'9" because I had a lot of friends who were taller, and I had friends who were girls that teased because I was "short" (its average height, but I was shorter, definitely). And it bothered me so much then because I felt like I SHOULD be growing. I ate right, I exercised, the whole thing. When I got to 19 or 20, I realized I was done growing, at least not in any dramatic fashion, and it was like a wave of confidence because I just accepted it. I am who I am, and everyone in my life who has a positive influence, or is just a friend DOESNT CARE. Or if they do, they're usually just a negative person anyway.
My dad was an extra on the movie Hoffa, my dad was 5'4 RIP I'm 5'3.(and I'm married to a 5'9 hot wife) But he said Danny was so cool to him. It wasn't nothing big my dad just drove the old cars, but he said Danny was just really nice to him.
Yeah but it's probably going to give you some kind of issue or chip on the shoulder, most women also can't instinctively find you attractive which has got to be a bummer.
Rory J Steel It is haha, I'm 5'8 in India and even then, in the malls everybody is taller. Being a reasonably alright looking person doesn't make it better.
Zoe Guzman How is it different? If people make fun of you for being short, they're making fun of you for being short. There's not really an in-between.
Danny DeVito is underrated. Frank on Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia would NOT be the same, if they didn't have DeVito. Switch any role of DeVitos and put someone else in there and the part sucks.
I found that after high school, and outside of online garbage, people really don’t care and your personality can shine through. Online self esteem will destroy you one way or another.
He plays such bonkers characters, it's awesome to hear him share some genuine wisdom/life advice. I'm a rather tall guy, so I can only try to imagine, but it sounds like an extremely positive attitude to have
I don't think Danny was ever bothered by his height growing up, but it is very thoughtful to ask the tall girl out to the dance. That's a rare act of compassion when you are teens.
I used to be so short when I was in lower and middle school that I was even shorter than most of the people two grades below me. I was proud of it, and had fun being some of the other kids’ armrest. Nobody ever insulted me about my height, and I think that was because I embraced it. Now I’m average height for my age, if not above average, and that’s cool too.
This is the first time I've heard him not in an acting role or being goofy. It's blowing my mind. He seems really down to earth and honest about things. You can tell he accepted he was short a long long time ago.
I interviewed Danny on the set of Sunny. We talked some Sunny, we talked some Cuckoo’s Nest, we talked some Matilda. Never did I think to ask him, “What’s it like being short????”?!?!?
I'm 5'6" and I can't recall ever feeling insecure about my height although there were other things I was insecure about in my teenage years. I never even realized it was a disadvantage with women until I ran across a few studies later in life that showed females prefer taller men.

I’m 5’6’’ in a family where almost everyone including the women are in the 5’10’’-6’6’’ range. I was always self conscious about it until my personality seemed to make up for it! And I’m dating a girl whose about 5’3’’ so that worked out pretty well!
Sam Deck are you in a family of WNBA players? 6’6” for a woman? My god that is almost as tall as Lebron James
Are we the same person Sam deck?
@@thehamburgler3570 it was a very common pituitary gland problem in my family. XD
who's, not whose
Danny's beyond short
but a lovely man
Preach Danny! What a stupid and insensitive question
I can't blame him if he does take offense. The height of the person is not important, it's how they are as a human being. That's what matters most.
It’s not stupid or insensitive, it’s honest.
Why is it stupid? Do you know how interviews work?
I interpret her asking to be a form of consideration. Sure it may bring attention to something he’s possibly insecure about, but it would be ignorant to think people don’t already know the subject of his possible insecurity. In other words, it’s already obvious that he’s short, so bringing attention to it isn’t doing any harm. But asking him his view on the subject is taking his feelings directly in to account. This is also from the perspective of a man who is 5”4’
Sorry for the essay 😝
He will be remembered for ever . A true legened in comedy.
He’s still alive.
The way she worded that question was horrendous
Danny is a treasure
He seems like such a great guy
Danny is such a legend, heartwarming to imagine the shortest and tallest kids together on a date! he is looking great for his age too, especially compared to other famous actors of his era.
Well, usually, the smaller you are, the longer you'll live, on average. Less space for things to go wrong.
I was unironically waiting for him to say "so anyway I started blasting"
Most genuinely secure yet real answer I've seen from a celebrity in years.
What a stupid question. Worded horribly on top of that.
For reals, she asks the question and doesn't stop talking. 🤦
Heightism is a serious problem, so please don’t trivialize it.
I still got the move
Well said!
Wow you feel short at 5’9 can’t imagine how you would feel at 5’5 and below
And I started blasting
Thank you, Phil.
He's right. It's all about the girl when you're in school. And after.
I can understand i am a almost 17 year old boy and 5‘2“
hows life with a taller lady :)
Lol all the guys commenting im 5'7 and i thought i was short! Im 5'2 and i have seen guys shorter than me so y'all should not complain
lindsay paige agreed!
I'm 5ft 11 and I would not like to be shorter, must be really emasculating to be under 5.9
Yeah but it's probably going to give you some kind of issue or chip on the shoulder, most women also can't instinctively find you attractive which has got to be a bummer.
lindsay paige you mean you’ve seen midgets? Lol
Rory J Steel It is haha, I'm 5'8 in India and even then, in the malls everybody is taller. Being a reasonably alright looking person doesn't make it better.
He took the cards he was dealt and made the most of it.
More personality than the average human i know.. He is a gem
He's 4"8 guys I think it's kinda different for him than if you're like 5"5'
I'm 5 feet tall and I'm a woman. I truly struggle with it, Daddy Devito is my hero.
You mean Danny DeVito, right? Not Daddy DeVito?
Discord LMAO
Indra Therion yeah i'm 5'7 and women act like i'm 4'7....
Zoe Guzman How is it different? If people make fun of you for being short, they're making fun of you for being short. There's not really an in-between.
As much as I grew up in the 90s and I love Danny DeVito especially him in Batman I really started to love him on Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Danny DeVito is underrated. Frank on Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia would NOT be the same, if they didn't have DeVito. Switch any role of DeVitos and put someone else in there and the part sucks.
I have so much respect for him, he’s hones and knows what’s important
I found that after high school, and outside of online garbage, people really don’t care and your personality can shine through. Online self esteem will destroy you one way or another.
Napoleon Bonaparte WAS NOT SHORT, at least not compared to men in his day. Just thought I'd mention that, cuz I can't stand untruth.
GregoryTheGr8ster napolean was around 5'6-5'7. Which was average at his time. It's short today. I'm 5'7 and I can't imagine being 5 ft like danny.
xrcrx ftfghjg Bonaparte was 5'7", but written records were misread as 5'1", which is where the assumption comes from.
@@therealCrazyJake The assumption comes from Britbong propaganda of the time. Go and check some of it out.
I to hate when people help spread untruths
He was 5'7, but even then he was still shorter than the royal families of Europe.
Best pocket rocket in the world
He plays such bonkers characters, it's awesome to hear him share some genuine wisdom/life advice. I'm a rather tall guy, so I can only try to imagine, but it sounds like an extremely positive attitude to have
I'm 5'6. I have no problem being short, it's everyone else that seems to have a problem with it.
I never thought about it that way... then I did
This just made me laugh out loud. He got really specific
He gets to climb women like trees. Ya gotta climb to get to the fruit or fruits in that case
Lmfao
Damn 😂
@@therion5458 I would
"Just be Danny DeVito bro"
yeah but the moment you stop being funny..
Hes a real genuine guy.
I measure people by the height of their integrity and character. Danny Devito is about 7' 2".
If he were Detective Pikachu, he’d be a lot shorter.
I heard he was going to voice in the game, but he declined. Was all that true?
Discord very sure that was a meme
PorkyTheKing Not from what I heard.
Discord what I heard was him saying if they gave him an audition for the movie then he would audition but Nintendo didn't reach out to him
This is the first time I've heard him not in an acting role or being goofy. It's blowing my mind. He seems really down to earth and honest about things. You can tell he accepted he was short a long long time ago.
Love this guy. He always does great work.
All Danny wanted was to go to the dance
I interviewed Danny on the set of Sunny. We talked some Sunny, we talked some Cuckoo’s Nest, we talked some Matilda. Never did I think to ask him, “What’s it like being short????”?!?!?
Haha so true. Is there a link to that interview?
@@omgwtfbbq_1 the article is gone - but I believe I may have some audio of it here on TH-cam. I’d have to look and see if it’s still here.
Kinda funny they treat height like it's some type of disease or something
How times have changed.
I absolutely love this man ❤
MATILDAS DAD OMG
Sarah Hassan and narrator lol
Right :) ❤️
Dr. Mantis Tobagon
The interviewer looks like a female version of Danny DeVito
Not sure if thats an insult or a compliment
I love that the video of Danny Devito talking about being short is so short.
Love him. He’s a great guy.
I'm 5'6" and I can't recall ever feeling insecure about my height although there were other things I was insecure about in my teenage years. I never even realized it was a disadvantage with women until I ran across a few studies later in life that showed females prefer taller men.
PedalTheGlobe I feel you brother.
same broo
“Prefer” doesn’t mean they won’t go for the short guy if you’ve got the right attitude. If you are at least somewhat attractive, and can make a girl laugh she’ll be yours.
Bruhh I’m 5’1😩
He looks like an old wario! Lmao
John Smith LOL
Wtf lol 😂
He should be the Official VA for a live-action Wario.
I wonder if she wrestled with the idea that she’s a troll face
this is why danny devito is one of the most pure actors of all time. tells it like it is, loves life, knows what's good.
wow such a smart and dedicated interviewer...
