    My wife and I visited from the US just last week, we had a wonderful time. Paris is a Beautiful city, in one of the shops I wanted to know what something meant on a beer can a native Parisian overheard me she stopped and explained it for me, something I'll always remember.

      Parisians are not always as grumpy as they're often portrayed 🙂

      Parisians are no more grumpy than anyone else. They just have to put up with a lot of tourist's . Speaking as one , I have to say your restaurant reviews are a highlight of my month on TH-cam 😊 . Having giwn up with rice pudding, I gave to say the salted caramel was a delightful variation ❤. Mercie

    So delighted to see this review. I haven’t been to Paris since 2001 and remember going to Au Vieux Comptoir a number of times. It looks exactly the same as I remember it. Great.

    Très agréable Alain, we really enjoy your restaurant visits and this was actually one we hadn't been to before. This film was a bit short and felt slightly rushed, but still enjoyable. 🥂

      Paris always wonderful without being told what to do, where to go, just 'flanner' still thank you. But the sound track up and down is disturbing.

    I liked this one…… I noticed a vegetarian starter and main course on the menu (my wife is vegetarian). I’ll make a note of this bistro for our next trip to Paris. Do you have to reserve a table, or can you just walk in off the street?

      Maybe one day as it seems to be a nice brasserie.

    The French appreciate their food more than most other countries, and as a result they enjoy some of the best and highest quality food in the world especially compared with the US. Of course they also insist on delicious and healthy meals. Compared to the French, we’re a bunch of uncultured folks who have no clue what good food really tastes like.

      I wouldn't say that you're wrong on the quality of French food, but you also can enjoy good food at some restaurants in the US.

      £60 ph all in is not considered unusual these days, particularly if the food is of the quality described here. London, as has been said here (and indeed at most good restaurants), can easily exceed that! Sadly, the days when you could dine well for almost half that, are gone! 😢 I used to run my own restaurant, but sold when the UK high street overheads became prohibitive. I now offer a bespoke private chef service at clients’ homes instead, but even without some of those overhead costs, the price of decent quality ingredients, and the time invested, still means these are not outlandish prices. This is why currently many people now don’t go out as much, and cook at home instead.

    Nowadays, French food seems a bit outdated.

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      In this kind of bistros, it's not outdated, it's classic.
