- A wine guide to Paris is essential, and mine will do the trick at parisinmypocket.com and get you where you want to the fastest - get it along with all my wine recommendations for Paris before your trip (or before it’s over!).
There’s a lot to know about ordering wine, far more than you actually need to have a good time, so I’ve distilled all I’ve learned in the last decade to the most important wine tips for the best time in Paris possible. If you’d like to find friendly and trustworthy wine folks in Paris in 2024, then you’ll want to hit up one or all of the places that we visited in this video (or any of the killer spots in my guide).

Okay, so you know what to drink and where to drink it, but what about dinner before or after? Check out all my recs at parisinmypocket.com !
I would only take wine advice from a French citizen…..wait a second…Congrats good sir! 🍷🇫🇷 🎉👏🏼
I qualify to wine and complain at last!🥂
We’re at Furia now, based on your recommendation. It is THE best meal we’ve had in Paris so far. And the wine is also excellent. Thank you so much, Jay.
Great to hear!
Your new channel is off to a great start! I'm looking forward to watching the other two new vides. Jacket vibes - yes! :-) And here's hoping your 7 years are almost over, LOL!
Merci!
Totally unrelated but looking dapper.
Mmmm I could happily have a glass (or two!) in any of those bars ! Cheers Jay!
Great suggestions - I love this new video format and series. You’re so well prepared. Eloquently presented. You introduce a topic and hit it. Love it.
Merci beaucoup!
It looks like you got a new zest for life with these new videos . Cheers from Austin Texas . Claudia
Thanks! They've been a ton of fun
1) Love the new channel. It’s going to be big. 2) I just plugged O’Chateu into Google Maps. It’s 900 feet from my couch. We’ll tell them Jay sent us over. 3) FISH TACOS?! Haven’t had a good one in months, also this week. Bon chance!
Yesss!!
I live in Baja and have downed my share of fish tacos over the years. When in Paris for an extended stay, I usually start “Jones-zen” for some tacos de pescado about a week into the trip. Next visit when I need a fix, I’ll give Furia a try. Gracias for the heads up🤙🏽
Yeah, check it out!
Great video! Love it, Jay! And congrats on citizenship 🎉
Thanks so much!!
Loved the first 3 videos! They take a fresh view on subjects you've hit on previously.
Glad you like them!
This is wonderful! So helpful. I love that now I am getting advice from a French Citizen..
Yes!
This is great Jay, you hit all the main points. I need to get back there so i can try these suggestions. 2025 goals 🎉
You should!
A real step up in production quality and I'm sure you're going to win a whole new audience with these videos - jacket vibes well with the content!
Thank you!
Love the Paris in my pocket videos! Keep them coming!
This helps a lot. Thanks for the new approach!
Glad it was helpful!
I liked the marketing strategy of your New Channel. It reminds me of what Peter Jones of Dragons Den UK once said that if you have passion in your content creation, you can open a channel without doing anything and get traction. Congrats on Paris in Your Pocket Jay!
Thank you!
Awesome, dude! In going tô Paris next month, and will 100% check on this places! Would you give us some tips on where to eat on a budget in Paris? Cool places on a budget!
Hey! A lot of places in my guide are pretty budget-friendly, but of course everyone's budgets are different. It also depends on the type of cuisine you're interested in!
Look at you!! 3,000 subs in less than a week!🚀Separating out your Paris in My Pocket content from your other channel was a good move. It feels clean and right on time. Are you eventually going to migrate your other “pocket” vids over here?
Thanks, Erin! We're having a blast. As for migrating, right now the team's leaning more towards remaking and updating, so everything is fresh!
I so wanted to go to O Chateau, but never made it... maybe someday...
I found a yummy rosé near Amboise for only 6€. I wish they shipped!
Getting wine BACK from France is always the trickiest part
"I don't remember the place, I don't remember the girl, but the wine was Chambertin." -- famous quote
I don't drink alcohol, so please don't mind me, just here to give a thumbs up to the video.
Thanks :D
👍😎
What's the French phrase equivalent for "Wine Flight"?
The phrase doesn't exist in the same way but you could try "une selection de vins" or "une degustation de vins"
🌴Aloha Question: What is a livable wage in France? Everybody uses that but nobody says what it is. 30 euro an hour or?
Depends where you are in France! Minimum wage for a full time job is about €1400/month net. But that's not a liveable wage for most people Paris really, though it could be manageable in more rural cities.
The minimum is €1,400 per month. In Paris and the Paris region, the amount is higher because living is more expensive. After 7 years with the same company, there's usually a "seniority bonus" (5% to 12%), plus various bonuses (13th or 14th month, overtime, etc.). In the French provinces, a blue-collar worker's salary can reach €2,400 to €2,500 at the end of his or her career, including bonuses, and €4,500 to €5,000 for an executive.
Wow. I do not think $1400 is a liveable wage. Here in Honolulu it is difficult for “most” to make a “livable wage” with only 1 job or have a family that contribute. Most work 2 or more jobs. I work a job but I have different income streams that do not are not “jobs”. Now I work for the benefits. I assume it is the same in France? Wait staff need work in a high end restaurant or have other $$? I think I will pay the waiter/ staff a percentage of the bill when I visit Paris. Here I do not consider a “tip” a tip. I consider it part of their wage and I am an employer for a short time. Aloha
@@ADAtrips1400 euros is a start, and the aim is to earn more over time, usually by changing jobs or progressing within the company. As far as tipping is concerned, in France, waiters and waitresses are salaried employees: they already have a salary and tips are just an extra, which is why tipping is not an obligation in France. You can leave €1 or €2 if you wish, but never a percentage of the bill.
Thanks for all of this, Jean-Pierre!
5:08 Paul Taylor sighting?
I think so...Good eye!
I’ll be staying 8 minutes walking distance from Cavewoman Wines for 2 weeks next month definitely will check it out!! Thanks for being the best Jay 🫶🏼
You must!
