When I add an asset to the library the model works perfectly but the textures are always lost when i try to place the asset in the other scene. Is that a bug or I have to somehow rearrange the location of the textures? It seems that native redirection fails to do this.

    Thanks for the comprehensive overview, Chris. :-)
    Does S24 have any further improvements to the core, in particular with regard to speed/performance? AFAIK, Maxon started updating the underlying core a while ago and this was to be a continuing process but I have seen/heard no information how far along they actually are.
    Also, are they doing anything about the antiquated cloth, physics, and hair systems? What about a legacy import function for older C4D scenes? I still need to keep a copy of R19 around because the newer versions won't load a ton of C4D models I purchased years ago.
    The new functions are pretty cool and potentially useful, but the program's foundation needs to be sound.

    • @RocketLasso
      @RocketLasso  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing to report on in S24 for those specific things, although I am looking forward to the future with them! I imagine that type of thing will be implimented in the Nodes and Scene Manager workflow, and not so much with the older stuff, but that's just a guess.

      Can you elaborate? I'm not sure I follow.

    • @rexmediastudiox307
      @rexmediastudiox307 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RocketLasso 1. Auto Breakdown with Color: I do character animations mostly in C4D and there's a 'Breakdown Color' option in the 'Key Interpolation' attribute. I use this option a lot in order to differentiate between the main key and breakdowns during tweening. Now since there's a tween tool in c4d, I was hoping to see it auto set to a breakdown color whenever the tween tool is used just so I wouldn't have to click on the 'Breakdown Color' when tweening.
      These options were found very useful in a character plugin in maya called animbot. It also has the overshoot feature for animating characters.

    the new scatter pen is awesome! can it also paint particles or multi instances?

    • @RocketLasso
      @RocketLasso  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can do copies, Instances, Multi-Instances. Nothing with particles though.

    • @Havealot
      @Havealot 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The instances the scatter pen creates are always multi instances as long as "Edit Mode" is disabled. In Edit Mode they will temporarily be converted to render instances. That allows you to manipulate individual instances with other tools (like moving a scattered object to another location with the Place Tool). Disable Edit Mode when you are done and they will be converted back for optimal performance and low memory footprint.

      Can you elaborate? There are thousands of tools in the software, the Content Browser that was a a bit dated got updated, and now has everything live on the cloud. Did you WANT it to stay on the older version? Should I not have mentioned the fact that it's there now? Should Maxon have time traveled to get it implemented at some past date? Or did you have a specific feature you were looking for and didn't get?

    • @graeme6539
      @graeme6539 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It allows our artists to make a centralised pose library on our cloud storage system, with full-body poses, facial poses & hand poses, and then the whole team can acess that library & add to it. And we can do the same with animations using motion clips. So yes, it's useful. Next we'll be exploring tagging our existing model library, again on cloud storage & hooking into it. Not everyone is a one-man band.

Most of us who want unlimited physics and polycounts are moving to unreal or unity because we can animate, use physics and drive our car rigs or animate using mocap LIVE!! ... maxon has a great tool but what they other is falling behind the leading edge by a long way... Other products are really moving in the right direction.. thank you for being a great source and brilliant channel for learning :) I'm moving away from cinema 4d after 20 years of loyalty. xx Maxon have taken to long to get a gpu renderer and then they have the cheek to charge extra for it.. way way extra

    • @graeme6539
      @graeme6539 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In many ways you're right, but Unreal is still a pretty horrible tool for layout, the outliner is crappy, the gizmos are crappy, the ability to be precise with scale & measuring is a long way behind Cinema, there's no navigation option as precise over small & large distances as Cinema's 'cursor' mode, foliage is great but it really lacks a cloner + effectors type of option. It has many advantages of course, from great performance, real-time rendering etc that make it sometimes worth the slog, but often it's easier to do the layout in Cinema & either push it through with Datasmith or push through a reference layout & trace over it in Unreal. That Lumen in UE5 tho....
