  • I'm sharing with you how I grow broccoli sprouts and broccoli microgreens using the hydroponic method. Broccoli microgreens are highly nutritious and considered by many as “superfood”. They can be grown easily indoors with just simple things most of us already have in our kitchens.
    Ingredients/equipment:
    Broccoli seeds - 4 tsp per tray (11 g)
    Container: 2 trays; one with holes and one without
    One spray bottle
    Paper towel, plastic or stainless steel mesh
    Harvest time: Sprouts - between 4 to 5 days, microgreens: between 9 to 12 days
    Music: TH-cam audio library - Dream of the Ancestor

    Hi! What's the difference between the broccoli sprouts seeds and the regular broccoli seeds? I thought broccoli sprouts were just very young broccoli plants.

    • @jakeaustin6337
      @jakeaustin6337 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both sprouting and regular seed are inherently the same and produce the same variety of plants. However, certain seeds are better suited for sprouting because of their short germination period. In addition, sprouting seeds are not chemically treated or modified and are safe for consumption.

    Thank you very much for your video and the demo. Microgreens are indeed very nutritional. However, in hydroponic systems, plants derive all their essential nutrients from the nutrient solution. The nutrients are absorbed through the plant's root system and are subsequently utilized for various metabolic processes, growth, and development. While it's challenging to provide an exact percentage, as it depends on specific variables, a substantial portion of the nutritional content in a hydroponically grown sprout comes from the nutrients in the solution. So does this mean if the solution is made up of synthetic chemicals, we are literally eating chemicalized nutrients? Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Thank you for your enlightenment.

  • @YummyItFood
    @YummyItFood 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow, this is amazing. I would love this for sandwiches. The Microgreens take longer but so tall, healthy and beautiful. I think I may try the sprouts first because it's much easier and doesn't require lighting. If that works out well I'll want to try the microgeens version. I still have to make a stop at the hydroponic store for the fertilizer unless Home Depot sells it, hmmmmmmm. Will go on the hunt this weekend. How long do they last after harvesting? I know when I buy radish sprouts they come with the cottony thing on the bottom with the roots so it last a bit longer. If it's anything like alfafa sprouts, they don't stay fresh for too long. I'll see if I can buy the seeds from Amazon, I'm so excited. Hopefully you'll do radish sprouts next, we love it with our sushi. I've been waiting for this video since you've mentioned it last time. Thank you so so much. I love it! I'll keep you posted of my results. Have a wonderful rest of the week. 😍👍LIKE #21

    It seems once the seed germinated you didn't use any kind of transparent cover with holes to hold moisture and for transpiration. When I did it seemed my seedlings were getting dry. Can you please tell what was the ambient temperature of the germination room. Thanking you in advance.

Microgreens have more of the amount because they have a few extra days to develop more of the nutrition elements from the plants. I enjoy watching your videos and I like them a lot. I was inspired by growing microgreens. Please can you tell me what plastic embroidery canvas you use for growing microgreens? I have already bought several types and unfortunately none of them fit - the eyes are big.

      I've provided the Amazon link of the mesh canvas I used in the description below the video. It's only $1.50 a piece. Good luck

      @@FineArtofCooking Thank you for the answer, but the link does not work - the product is not available and therefore there is no picture, that is why I wrote. Hopefully I can find the right mesh. Thank you.

    Hi Marie, thank you for doing this video. Also when I am watering the broccoli micro greens how much should I water them after I’ve put them in the window? Is it still twice a day? I’m afraid of over watering

      Do you keep the light blocked out the entire 5 days. Minus watering? Cuz mine didn't get any color (besides yellow )and its day 5. I will expose to light and bottom watering today

      @Kube Dog Is Back when you say last day, do you mean harvest day? Also are you saying during the sprouting and growth periods you didn't cover it? You left it out since it's darker in your house?
      Thanks for replying

      @Kube Dog Is Back Thank you for explaining. That will be really useful in the future. I used paper towel as my medium on my first microgreens attempt (which is ongoing). There is a smell, im wondering if i put too much water. Right now im using a two prong usb plant light and they seem to be turning green. But idk about the smell.

    My broccoli sprouts won't grow even though I have followed all the steps. Is it because of the type of seed I bought?
