  • I'm sharing with you how I grow broccoli sprouts and broccoli microgreens using the hydroponic method. Broccoli microgreens are highly nutritious and considered by many as “superfood”. They can be grown easily indoors with just simple things most of us already have in our kitchens.
    Ingredients/equipment:
    Broccoli seeds - 4 tsp per tray (11 g)
    Container: 2 trays; one with holes and one without
    One spray bottle
    Paper towel, plastic or stainless steel mesh
    Harvest time: Sprouts - between 4 to 5 days, microgreens: between 9 to 12 days
    Music: TH-cam audio library - Dream of the Ancestor
    Ingredients and equipment or similar:

    This sounds much better than the "Ball" canning jar method. I hate my tap water so I won't use it for rinsing the seeds twice a day. A lot of bottled or filtered water!!!! The trays and food are already ordered and a thumbs up for the seemingly better water saving technique!!! (I'll know how to get back here in a few weeks and I will report on just how much better this method really is)!!!

    Just a recommendation to you: instead of soaking the seeds, lightly spray a bamboo paper towel (cut to fit the tray) and sprinkle the dry seeds evenly. The moist paper towel will keep them in place. Then spray lightly a few times a day. Just an alternate up to around 2:30 in the video

    • @FineArtofCooking

    • @knightsofneeech
      @knightsofneeech 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FineArtofCooking I like it because the seeds grow right through it and seem to cling to the fibers in the bamboo mat. Also when you are ready to harvest you can pull the entire mat, with the sprouts up and cut them evenly. You can even pull them straight from the mat and still eat the roots. Have fun!

      @knightsofneeech ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@optobeagle hello yes I think it's labeled the reusable kind. It's on a roll just like paper towels. Once the sprouts grow you cannot re cut them. They are packed full of nutrition and you want to snip them on the stems so you have the entire sprout to eat. They are very quick and easy Hope you enjoy making them.

    Thank you very much for your video and the demo. Microgreens are indeed very nutritional. However, in hydroponic systems, plants derive all their essential nutrients from the nutrient solution. The nutrients are absorbed through the plant's root system and are subsequently utilized for various metabolic processes, growth, and development. While it's challenging to provide an exact percentage, as it depends on specific variables, a substantial portion of the nutritional content in a hydroponically grown sprout comes from the nutrients in the solution. So does this mean if the solution is made up of synthetic chemicals, we are literally eating chemicalized nutrients? Kindly correct me if I am wrong. Thank you for your enlightenment.
