Okay, so I am 54 years old. This won't make much sense to those who are not in this age range, and it may only make sense to half of those who are. But I miss my people so much. So, so much. The world has changed a lot since the 70s when our parents were young, having house parties, snapping their fingers, dancing, drinking and having a good time, with their afros, polyester shirts, bellbottom pants, and platform shoes. So many have passed away, as many of them are now in their late 70s and early 80s. This music helps me stay connected to their presence, to their smiles, their dances, and their essence, their ideas. I really, really miss my people. Oh my God, I miss my people.

It’s insanity that Theodore DeReese Pendergrass isn’t in the RR Hall of Fame, and it’s really unbelievable that he never won a Grammy! Listen to him here , and he’s what about 25 or 26? He was in his early 20’s belting out those early Blue Note hits…then ALL his great albums? FOUR straight Platinum Albums? He had a magnificent voice that was made for soul music. Come on y’all, time to give Teddy his due!
