I am 69. Years old. I give anything I have to comeback to that era. That was music ❤
except the outfits, right?!😄
Sure was and I'm only 55!
Yes, these songs will never go away.
Me and you both ❤
Totally with you
Since I'm officially a senior citizen, I'll say it: "Now, *that* was *MUSIC!"*
I agree. Listening to it,I'm crying tears of-JOY.The music is so-GOOD.
100%!
Not arguing with this!😊
@@carlanorris226 right?!
Man....Teddy Pendergrass can sing it....and with class. Rappers today cannot hold a candle to these guys.

Agreed…..1000%
Right on bro ❤
what's the point in comparing? Just enjoy brilliance where it happens. Rappers today are brililant, and this song is brilliant.
I’ll drink to that 😂😂😂
Why can’t there be good music like this anymore? 🙁
Because musicians don’t run the music industry anymore….next question
Your right
@@kristinaschroeder4231 Thanks……to me it’s just obvious….it’s like musicians taking over the courtroom and acting as someone’s lawyers…..”you have no business here; get the hell in the studio; I want to be represented properly……not a great example but I’m sure you know what I’m trying to say…have a great day!!
Because singers of today unlike yesterday, I'm only interested in money and not the content of the song and to sing good wholesome lyrics that means something
@@ericramsdell4671 That’s a good answer……but I stick with my original line of a couple of weeks ago: Because musicians don’t run the music business anymore
My boyfriend brought me this record, he was a man of little words..We married and stayed together until the day he died. throughout the 30yrs he continued to bring home many other wonderful records..
Awww. How beautiful.
You were blessed
Did know that was Teddy Pendergrass Singing that tune

Teddy Pendergrass and the Blue Notes is what it should have been named. Lord help these kids appreciate real music, no, guns, no killing, no vulgarity, no disrespect, no hatred, no bragging, no envy, just positive music.

I’m in the hospital at the VA Cancer Clinic in Seattle being treated for triple hit stage 4 DLBCL non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with severe Cachexia , lymphedema and Ascites. I’m 66 ; and even with this life threatening sickness and unimaginable pain , I still get goose bumps every time I hear this song ! It brings me back to the 70s when I was younger and full of life .
Update 5-3-23 : I should have died 18 months ago. Death was staring me in the face! But unbelievably, my body recovered.
It’s as if the Almighty “undone” what the body did.
Update 2-26-24 : My birthday is in two days … the 28th ! I made it to 68 ! Woohoo. Doctor said I’m in remission! What a birthday present !!! Thank you all for your prayers.

What is so sad about today's music is that they don't make music like this anymore.
Hello Toney mate they do not make beautiful music like this anymore and play dominoes Ahah I miss Simple things of life 👀😘God bless
They don't try its all about quickies and cheap trills
Today -old energy shit is leaving- because old energy based on a lie ... adultery is fake love ... and nothing real ever comes out of it 🌹👈🏽😎
But the good part is, we have these memories inside for Life! Never to go away from our minds! And for me when these songs came out, those were the Good Days. The Best! I doubt it if younger people will ever experience the Good days, you know? Look at today! Sad........
Love is worn on the fingers and the clothes and car not the heart anymore
Rap music and the black artist now as they say couldn’t hold a candle to these men that’s just pure talent beautiful voice
Well, when 50 years and 100M songs come out, you start to run out of options on making something "new". You should know that trends are a thing and that everyone is looking for the next new thing. Just because something is substantially different, doesn't mean that it isn't good. I'm in my mid 30s and love tons of "oldies" songs and I can also appreciate some new stuff as well. You have to expand your horizons. Rap is also explaining a lifestyle that i, and maybe yourself, haven't experienced...so it may not be right for you and that is obviously fine.
As the music industry unfolds... it becomes more apparent that it is based on SALES... If an artist comes out today and tries to "make it" on these solid vocal torch songs and ballads, they can't because THE KIDS (the major buying audience) is not energized by this.. they are "energized" and "excited" by foul language and vocal passages that they hear on the streets. In the olden days a romantic lyric might be ".... my love, I'll take you out to a fine place, where you and I can speak face to face"... todays romantic lyric might say "Imma call you my bish and eat that booty like a dish". So yeah.. different societal morals calls for different lyrics.
In 2023 this song never sounded better. The Philly sound at its best.I remember watching this,as a kid on Soul Train.Rip , Teddy Pendergrass, Harold Melvin..
I first heard this classic late at night when I was eight years old and sick with the flu. Mum put a radio in my room tuned to the local R&B station to keep me company as she knew I wouldn't sleep a wink. This song has haunted me now for 52 years after first hearing it, it's that powerful. Thanks Mum and your wonderful taste in music.
You’re lucky to have that memory and the taste in music. Everyone here is.
So beautiful. Just beautiful.
Teddy Pendergrass was only about 22 years old when he recorded this with the BN. Str8 blowing the world away with them grown azz man, life-experienced pipes. Respect and RIP to the Teddy Bear.

The 60s had a lot of greats with MOTOWN. Teddy was one of the BEST and so was Marvin Gaye.
Grew up on this music in the 60s & 70s. Real SOUL music....not pop.
If I were Harold Melvin I would have paid Teddy anything he wanted. He’s one of of the best.
Teddy had to go, he was destined for bigger things but fate got in the way. The man had the charisma and looks to be a film star and was taking lessons from Sidney Poitier when the accident happened.
@@TonyGPizza This is true.
Harold Melvin was controlling and Greedy. The Group was originally the Blue Notes......He put his name out front without consulting the other guys. Teddy was always the “voice” but Harold was too stupid to see that he would eventually leave the group. They were never the same after teddy went solo.
Teddy ruined his life when a car wreck in 1982 left him paralyzed. The transgender person in the car with him at the time got lucky and was OK.

Excellent info
Fantastic info Jaylen. Check out, if you don't know it, Teddy and the Blue Notes singing live on Soul!, the NYC tv show from '73. rarely, if ever, were the Blue Notes singing background on the recordings, nor were the Delfonics, Stylistics etc. really only the O'jays and Spinners were the only ones doing all the singing. Teddy was the best of all, one in a billion... like Sam Cooke or David Ruffin and Marvin, all coming out of church... the last ones.
Actually, It was just Gamble, Huff & Bunny Sigler on background vocals. Non of them mentioned Thom Bell being present.
