  • Politicians - out of selfishness, incited acts of racial violence amongst the Rakyat, causing fatalities of many innocent Malaysians and hundreds more wounded, marking May 13, 1969, as the first black day in our nation’s history. Fifty-two years have since passed and despite the numerous demonstrations that have taken place, there have been no repeats of such violent incident, until November 28, 2020, when a riot broke out at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Subang Jaya which resulted in the untimely demise of a firefighter.
In collaboration with Fat Bidin Media, which is running a campaign to counter and prevent violent extremism (fatbidin.com/), The Vibes intends to answer this pertinent question by speaking to selected personalities, politicians, activists, and prominent thinkers in a six-part series entitled: ‘Are Politicians The catalyst for Extreme Violence in Malaysia?’
