Lmfao pops till you realize these old bikes can’t even match the performance level of production liter bikes in 2019 lol. MOTO GP bikes need electronics because they are MUCH MUCH MUCH FASTER than these old machines. Sorry pops but riding with electronics is the name of the game.
Brought a tear to my eye seeing the Dajiro Kato bike. True talent, blessed to have met him and seen him race many times. Ran away with the 250 title, no one could touch him. Would of been a Moto go world champ at some point. RIP#74
Without a doubt! Totally fearless but a very special very rare borderline Rossi caliber talent!! I rem one time someone in the paddock asked someone on his team “where does he put those huge balls of his when on the bike?”
I remember Honda bringing the NR500 to Laguna Seca with Freddie Spencer at the controls. Back in the day the fans could get very close. I stood on the left side of the bike as a mechanic was blipping the throttle, while Freddie approached in full battle gear. The lowest number on the tachometer was 10,000! What a sound she made. WAAH! WAAH! WAAH! WAAH! So cool.
Joe Armijo I'm not sure but I would guess around 85lb going off the rpm and power. 2 strokes actually make a LOT of torque at peak. People think they don't because they only make it in certain rpm ranges but they push hard when they're on pipe.
The Mick Doohan bike is probably the best ever made. He was excellent but the bike was supreme. Biaggi had it in his hands and lost it to get the Yamaha money. He could have won the title.
i used to own am suzuki rgv back when i was 17....now im 35 and changed over 30 superbikes...that suzuki is still my favorite and by far the craziest one...when you hit 6k rpm hold on for dear life
What a great video! As a child I was a great fan of Freddie Spencer and his lovely Rothmans Honda's. To see and hear the bike today is a real treat; I thank you!

Commiefornia are banning the sale of new 2 stroke motorcycles in 2021 and with good reason. I had a RD250 as a kid. Apparently it was in great condition and was about as good as they got but it required one to be full on the gas and deal with that annoying noise that sounded like Jar Jar Binks being tickled in a blender. Off the gas it was crap, on the gas it was good for all of a 1,500rpm power band. The RD500C was more fun but had the same narrow power band and anything over 200 miles left you with a sore left leg from the 32,432,432,657 gear changes needed to keep it in the power band. From riding this, I could see why most bike races were never several hours long. I pity the bastards that had to ride the 6 hour races on it. I got wise to the fact that 4 stroke bikes were better to ride early on. Back in the day I loved my EXUP. RIP my FZR. So much faster and way easier to ride. But today, I'll keep my S1000RR. The world doesn't need oil burners that dump more pollution into the air just warming up than your average car emits in 12,000 miles. But despite the fact that I'm an old ornery man, if you call 49 old, I can't wait for someone to make a kick ass electric bike. I never got the fad of a loud exhaust - I don't want the cops further down the canyon knowing I'm coming from 2 miles away. Why would you want that? If you sneak up on the rozzers at 100mph with no sound, they're not going to have the speed gun ready, they'd still have one hand of the coffee cup and the other on the donut. Even the BMW electric scooter that I had a test ride on when my S1000RR was in for its first service was more fun that I ever remember the RD500C being. Then again, I expected the RD to be fast and it kinda was but I expected the C Evo to be slow and boring and had the shit surprised out of me. That it went around corners as well as the RD and had as much torque (but in a very linear way from a dead stop) just shows how far things have moved on. The new S1000RR has a 9,000rpm range where it is over 100nm of torque 5,500 to 14,600rpm. It almost makes you want to forget about changing gear and just smash it in the twisties in 1st gear all day and come home a sweat soaked fool that can't stop laughing. That said, I hope that the bikes in the video are kept in tip-top shape and running for many years to come. It's great when we can see how things were back in the day and how far each generation of bikes moves on.
This is the pinnacle. When I think of the kings, I think of NSR, RGV, TZR, and yes, RS250. It will never get better. Watching the 97 NSR500 around the track is trying to justify mid 80's turbo F1. Many many 30-40-50 even 70k bikes pull up at our local bike cafe....I can guarantee you if I pulled up on one of these old 500 bad boys the whole lot would be surrounding the bike in complete astonishment asking me to start it up and smell the goodness. These bikes are true works of art in every way!
These two strokers make the modern MotoGP bikes look boring. I use to race a Yamaha 250gp bike and loved it! "MR. JAPAN . . . BRING BACK THE TWO STROKERS"

I hope fans will make more tuning engines and aftermarket part makers still continue to support the communiy. I just love 2Strokes, noting comes close when it comes to power output!
Yamaha raced the TZ750 back in the seventies. Kenny Robert's was unbeatable on it. Yamaha even used the Tz750 two stroke motor in a flat tracker for a while.
I am just sitting in my chair with mouths fully open, and just can't beleive what beautyfull bikes im looking at. These was a days of glory, these was bikes...
Just awesome, I had a Nsr125 10 year ago, sold it for £450. Ill never get one the same now :( 2 Stroke was the prime in motorcycles back then probably still would be if they could still make them.
By displacement, 2 strokes will always be the option of choice for a serious rider who can keep it in the power band through a curve like a big boy. It's like drivers who can use a manual vs. drivers who can't, the difference in quality of driving is night and day.
The actual moto gp is easy to drive with electronic control , but this old bike don't have electronic control and have a brutal amazing erogation of power ... love her!
1983-2000...greatest era for motorcycle racing that will have ever existed. The 1992-93 rothman's NSR 500 ridden by the great mick doohan was the greatest combination in 2 wheel history.
herbyverstink It looks like you never heard of Mike Hailwood, Phil Read, Jarno Sarinen, John Surtees, Jim Redman, Giacomo Agostini, Geoff Duke. Just to name a few. And some of them not only won more titles in GP racing, but also won Man TT (Hailwood like 13 or 14, Agostini 10 or 11), something that doesn't happen for like 30 years. Oh, and Surtees, the only man to win the world championship of the top motorcycle (GP500) and car (F1) categories. Doohan is in the Top 10 no doubt, but there are some ahead.
To the people that keeps on telling that 2 strokes engines should not keep that long for break-in's, you don't know how 2 stroke engine works! Have you notice the smoke coming out of the pipe? It's denser than a regular 2 stroke bike can blew off! 2 stroke engines will run as smooth as it is, as powerful as it is without breaking it's block off as long as it's 2t oil is maintained. The higher cc and rpm your 2 stroke is the higher the 2t oil it needs!
This one was the GP500 king of the 80s and the 90s - 500cc, 2-stroke, V4 cyl.! Riders World Championships won with the NSR500: 1985 Freddie Spencer (USA) 1987 Wayne Gardner (AU) 1989 Eddie Lawson (USA) 1994 Mick Doohan (AU) 1995 Mick Doohan 1996 Mick Doohan 1997 Mick Doohan 1998 Mick Doohan 1999 Àlex Crivillé (ES) 2001 Valentino Rossi (IT)
I love these,I ride my little 250 RS Aprilia to bike meets and most don't even know what it is. Many think it's good for 60/70 mph like the modern 4 bangers. Lol, I just smile, you keep reading the sales brochure on your litre machines.
I know trying to make a compariso via a video game is such a joke. But I play Tourist Trophy from my clunky old PS2. When I got those 2-stroke bike, I thought it was a helpless bike against a 4-stroke 400cc. Until I decided to try one, and then I met a corner at Suzuka... Damn, these 2-strokers are riding on rails. I took note of their lightweightedness and amazing cornering ability. So cool!
Never they will launch again these Legendary 2 Stroke bikes in the future, sounds like heaven to ears, my words and stock of words is over to praise these beauty and beasts...
How fast are these bikes compared to today's super sports? Are they comparable to a 600? Doesn't seems like enough power to be faster than a liter bike though
Wow, the triple sound resembled my old tuned NS400R's sound quite a bit!: ) My old "RG500-killer", it would leave original sukis far behind in a thick, blue haze of twostroke fumes. Everything was done with it almost, ported to the hilt, new carbs, ignition, pistons, chambers. It became the funniest bike I had ever had. Sadly it was stolen by someone who killed both himself and it in a horrible crash:(
Ari Ari A Banshee comes as a 350twin stock, the one I rode had a, Big Bore 421 kit on it so now it’s 421cc, with some other things done to it. A basic Banshee with Aftermarket Reeds an Pipe is a mf to a person who doesn’t respect it an now it’s 421cc it was nice.
You should do most of your changing down just b4 the apex . Thats the way i used to ride my RD350 LC /250s TZR and TDR . completley different to how i ride my R6
I'd be all like, coupla laps.. getting further up the revs. Getting confident ..... getting more confident.... RIGHT THIS LAP REDLINE FULL THROTTLE NO PROBLEM........ *Flying through the air hoping I die before they send me the bill*
I still didn't understand y did they stop producing 2 strokes, as they weren't band from sports. its just that the new 4 strokes were given a capacity upto 990 cc. and the nsr 500 was capable of over 200 hp, which even today is not achievable the the 1k class
Tree huggers did that....they pollute more. Pretty sure honda jumped on board first which sucked bad if you loved the 250R as I did. I still build 2 stroke bikes...Always will. Long live the ringadingers!
Superbikes are putting out 220 to 230 bhp Moto GP no one tells but has been let slip they're 250 at least but I agree stroker's are the dogs . Had a heron Suzuki Sheen replica 500 crazy power great fun gives me goose every time I here a 2 stroke .
I’ve seen Honda’s videos before and considering they own a racetrack why don’t they load the bunch up and run them there instead of around the parking lot?🤔🤔
Tha rider was Tadayuki Okada, a retired Japanese professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He was runner-up in the 1994 250cc and in the 1997 500cc World Championship.
im confused, well you know how the supersport bikes of today are the likes of the yamaha r1, suzuki gsxr1000, etc.. what were the 500cc 2 stroke supersport bikes called back in their day?

Good to see that those iconic bikes are still being taken care of and loved!
Using four strokes how they should be used: Only to start 2 strokes :)
Can you explain what they are doing? Been watching a lot of older bike videos lately and this is a common theme
lmfao!!

I have an NSR 125, and it's a beautiful thing to see its big brothers in action. Absolutely beautiful!
it went wheelie every gear he shifted. That's a beast!
Duy Tùng Phạm because it doesn’t have electronic to control torque hahaha
@David Miatke He's talking about power valves
@David Miatke Do you even have a shinebox?
David Miatke ohh. So what purpose electronic in nowadays superbike? It to support over torque reaction correct?
According to sheene you can power wheelie in every gear
The bikes are beautiful and sound fantastic! Thanks for sharing your racing history with us!!

Two strokes sound like no other engine. I hope they can get them back someday, even if that is highly unlikely.

500cc and near as makes no difference 200hp. That's 400hp/litre N/A. In 1997.
1984* ;)
yeah but how much torque did they make
Martin Notland I think that was the older design - around 165hp?
Still bloody impressive when you think what else was about in those days.
Joe Armijo I'm not sure but I would guess around 85lb going off the rpm and power. 2 strokes actually make a LOT of torque at peak. People think they don't because they only make it in certain rpm ranges but they push hard when they're on pipe.

Spencers NS 500 made around 140Hp .....the 1997 NSR500 made around 190Hp
Love the Sound of the 84 and 85 but the looks on that 97 is just breathtaking. looks like Mick Doohan's killer machine.

This one was the GP500 king of the 80s and the 90s - 500cc, 2-stroke, V4 cyl.!
Riders World Championships won with the NSR500:
1985 Freddie Spencer (USA)
1987 Wayne Gardner (AU)
1989 Eddie Lawson (USA)
1994 Mick Doohan (AU)
1995 Mick Doohan
1996 Mick Doohan
1997 Mick Doohan
1998 Mick Doohan
1999 Àlex Crivillé (ES)
2001 Valentino Rossi (IT)
I love these,I ride my little 250 RS Aprilia to bike meets and most don't even know what it is. Many think it's good for 60/70 mph like the modern 4 bangers. Lol, I just smile, you keep reading the sales brochure on your litre machines.
Top speed is not much more than 220/230 ish
83年のNS500が1番好きですね。あのカラーリング💕 若い頃にNS250Rに乗っていたけど、83年のカラーリングに自分で塗り替えて乗ってました。
Which one did late soichiro san like best between 2 & 4 stroke?
I know trying to make a compariso via a video game is such a joke. But I play Tourist Trophy from my clunky old PS2. When I got those 2-stroke bike, I thought it was a helpless bike against a 4-stroke 400cc. Until I decided to try one, and then I met a corner at Suzuka... Damn, these 2-strokers are riding on rails. I took note of their lightweightedness and amazing cornering ability. So cool!
Love "fast" FREDDIE machine.. 2 stroke always a great machine! and i do owned an NSR150... great bike
2 Stroke!!! *_*
Comebackdreams
NSR最高!!!
ピーキーに鋭く乾いた音!そして2st独特のにおい!
全てにおいてイカしてるぜ!
Bring back the two strokes to MotoGP!
Never they will launch again these Legendary 2 Stroke bikes in the future, sounds like heaven to ears, my words and stock of words is over to praise these beauty and beasts...
That throttle response is insane
how does one lucky bastard get to score a ride on all those amazing machines?!?! Damn dude, you can die a happy man now!
Gud sound from silencer of 2 stroke, love forever 2 stroke engine...
Crazy...These guys are short shifting as well...soo much potential..
7:30 RiP Daijiro...
How fast are these bikes compared to today's super sports? Are they comparable to a 600? Doesn't seems like enough power to be faster than a liter bike though
Hi - Love the video - would it be OK to use it on my Classic2Strokes Facebook page please (obviously will credit/link to you) - many thanks!
What's the wheelbase on the '85? Seems longer than most modern supersports.
Holy moto. .look at that power bend and throttle response
Sadly it was stolen by someone who killed both himself and it in a horrible crash:(
97's Soo FAST that Even cameraman is Confused ! DAMN i Want it Street Legaled ! 💯
Damn I would love to feel when that powerband kicks, I rode a banshee with a 421stroker an that thing was ridiculous I can just imagine these
?????????????
Ari Ari what are you not understanding
@@waltwalt9632 421 stroker
Ari Ari A Banshee comes as a 350twin stock, the one I rode had a, Big Bore 421 kit on it so now it’s 421cc, with some other things done to it. A basic Banshee with Aftermarket Reeds an Pipe is a mf to a person who doesn’t respect it an now it’s 421cc it was nice.
@@waltwalt9632 slag en boring ? my English is very bad
120 hp from 500cc?1984? incredible...imagine 1000cc 2stroke...i love them all my life
How much do I love natural 2 strokes wheelie.
加藤大治郎のマシンが泣けた
号泣した・・
Good ol 2strokes !! Them bikes were ahead of there time if I won the lottery I would buy that bike the resol
You should do most of your changing down just b4 the apex . Thats the way i used to ride my RD350 LC /250s TZR and TDR . completley different to how i ride my R6
man, that ns500 would look great in my man cave, beautiful racing bike.
These were some of the greatest machines ever made
They are all shifting just when the power comes in. I would too!😂😂😂
I'd be all like, coupla laps.. getting further up the revs.
Getting confident ..... getting more confident.... RIGHT THIS LAP REDLINE FULL THROTTLE NO PROBLEM........
*Flying through the air hoping I die before they send me the bill*
Still missing the 500's in 2020. Brap!!
Long live the ringadingers!
has to do with using race tech to advance the products they sell, and if they can't sell 2 stroke....oops
Back in my race days, we used to call 4 strokes diesels. . .
Superbikes are putting out 220 to 230 bhp Moto GP no one tells but has been let slip they're 250 at least but I agree stroker's are the dogs . Had a heron Suzuki Sheen replica 500 crazy power great fun gives me goose every time I here a 2 stroke .
今のバイクは勿論性能は良いのだろうけど、古いと言われても良い‼️
やっぱりこの頃のバイクが一番格好いい、みててゾクゾクする😃
All these bikes are in the Honda museum in the background. Good to see that they are taken out and trashed around a track once in while.
NSR500 /1985 amazing engine sound love it !
Wow
please this song is the band whose singer is and what the song's title is. I love it.....
im confused, well you know how the supersport bikes of today are the likes of the yamaha r1, suzuki gsxr1000, etc.. what were the 500cc 2 stroke supersport bikes called back in their day?
最高にいい音。Sound good to the highest. NSR50 of Japan also interesting machine to the highest.
I look at videos
NSR50で峠の動画あるよ
I would love to see somebody make a franken bike. Take a NSR500 2 stroker and throw it into a modern lightweight bike from 2018. Nice!
most of my dreams in one single video!!!
siruga all I ever want to do is take Michael Doohan’s bike for a lap!!!
Saw all theese at the Honda Gallery at Motegi last weekend. Amazing to see them in the Flesh.

The rider was Tady Okada! What a great rider.
