- "This was the specific Honda NSR500V that @hondamotorcycles used to showcase the bike and that’s why it was kept as a showpiece.
An incredibly important bike to Honda & Two stroke fans alike…most certainly to me!!!
VIN 001, never ridden and my goodness…most certainly ICONIC! I sure wish I could buy this one, only thing is, I’d have to do at least a track-day or two on it!
What a special bike, so awesome that it’s here!
I can’t thank the owner enough for choosing iconicmotorbikeauctions.com. Not only is this an amazing bike but he’s become a very close mate.
PS. For those of you concerned about spares, not included in the sale…a large enough selection of spares to support a NSR500 race-team are available before long.
Oh man….I'll forever remember this day!"
Adam Tromp (Iconic Motorbikes CEO)
Adam's notes from the last clip:
"Olly is taking a close look at the never ridden NSR500V with VIN 001 and fixing a couple small things with the brakes.
Check out how light these parts are! Such an incredible machine that’s getting ready for iconicmotorbikeauctions.com
Olly is loving his job today :)"

I watched a tonne of TH-cam content over the years and have got to see some absolutely outstanding machines. I really couldn't fathom seeing this bike!
If you live near Santa Monica, send us a message and you can come on by!
Out of this world number 1 on my favorite Iconic video now...
I remember Tadayuki Okada almost won the 1996 Malaysian GP at Shah Alam on that bike. Super cool.
Good memory!
@@IconicMotorbikes it rained suddenly and a red flag. On the restart he crashed. I was bummed since I wanted him to win that day.
You were not kidding naming the channel Iconic Motorbikes what a machine top of many dream lists
I know I told you Adam it’s so awesome this bike showed up I’ve heard rumors about it for years. Also so cool it has the paint scheme since it was a show bike.
thank you for showing this to the world and a big thank you here from Denmark wow
Beautiful! One of the Pinnacle of 2 Strokes! ♡
This is my dream bike...too bad I'm broke 😅
I had to sell my other dream bike due to health conditions (which is why I'm broke, and why I can't ride anymore), which was a 96 built CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. Tons of TSR Japan parts, super rare flame/hand bent TSR titanium exhaust with Ladybird exhaust single stay, TSR rearsets, TSR Brembos, TSR clutch slave, TSR triples, TSR swingarm, 1200cc forged pistons, forged rods, fully balanced and knife edged crank, Yoshi/Kehin FCR carbs, Yoshi cams, +1mm valves, AS Uotani ignition, Dymag wheels, Beringer rotors, Brembo radial masters, full Swage Teflon/Stainless lines, Ohlins suspension, ECT plus a _full_ A-Tech carbon front fairing, A-Tech kevlar tank surround, A-Tech carbon tank, A-Tech carbon front fender, Magical Racing carbon and acrylic screen, Magical Racing DRL carbon mirrors, a rare Coerce RS full carbon tail, Corbin Smuggler seat, Stack 13k RPM Street Display.... the list goes on.... and I had to sell her 😖
Dude, you hit the jackpot. Been looking for just a regular one for 5 years.
If you're still looking, send me an email: abhi@iconicmotorbikes.com. We have a lead on another one!
Pole position in the First race...stunning race machine🚀🚀🤯😱💯
Awesome video and GREAT BIKE! Why not record in 4k?
OMG!!!! V twin creaming my pants on this one. Thanks for the share guys.....
I can't believe in my eyes.
Was at an auction the other month had a good look over one, up close they are a Work of ART!
I can't believe you had the Michelin man locked up in that box for 20 years. 😮
It is safe to say that bike weighs 1/3 of what my bike weighs in the crate on the stand...maybe less.
Beautiful.
With such a thin tank, have tried opening it, likely it has had a partial vaccum within it for a long long time, it just needs the cap opening to release the pressure difference.
If it sill has a slight concave, take the tank off the bike, close all vents and valves, or use soft hose clamps carefully fill it with hot water until over half full.
Put the cap on and swirl it a bit to let the swirling hot water generate air pressure to gentle heat and he concave into convex.
We've opened it several times. We'll take your suggestion into consideration!
My dream bike! Whoa #1 how amazing
Love how all the guys at the shop were geeking out
Iconic guys surprise us again ☝️🔥
I am not a two stroke guy at all, but my goodness that is a gorgeous machine! When you combine engineering and aesthetics, this is what you get 🤌
new style of bikes are edges ,spoilers, finns, angry looks, insect looks. but this, just beautiful lines. i had a 92 cbr 900 and later a vtr 1000 sp1 and i see a little bit of both in this beauty and as a two stroke fan . what can you want more
Holy Grail
Awesome stuff the name states it all iconic,, what an awesome shop ,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Cheers from Dungannon
HRC race bikes are just something else thing of engineering excellence build quality second to none love iconic keep the videos coming on this bike keep up the good work all at iconic 👍👍
Thank you very much!
I agree
I have a RC51 ..... The build quality is just phenomenal
Speechless absolutely incredible
I don't have details about the A02, but this video made me look up more about the NSR500V. There's an article from Cycle World (Google "Riding Mick Doohan's NSR500, Tadayuki Okada's NSR500V, and the Production NSR500V") which shows the inside of the airbox on the works V2 and that one is stamped A04. Maybe a difference between the works and privateer bikes? The mystery deepens!
Amazing! I don’t understand how Honda sells these kind of bikes and not keep them for their factory showroom
They were made to fill out 500gp grids with a competitive affordable bike. Great bike!
Absolutely amazing looking bike
Incredible!
wow, what a gem
Wow this is an extremely good looking bike. I mean its novelty for what it is stands corrected anyway but that design of how the front shell sits over close on the front mud guard is what we see in 2024 BMW M1000RR. Honda was way far ahead of its competitors in design back in 2001. Its mind blowing
My dream bike!
TWIZTED SICK BIKE ...THIS BIKE IS SO BADASS
I get preserving it in the crate for safety, but man, I keep my zero-mile Ducati in my living room so I can admire it every moment I can! If I couldn't enjoy it, I'm not sure I would have hung onto it. I'm shocked the battery was left in that one lol. I about had a heart attack when he sat on it!!! Mine has never been sat on 😂
What kind of Ducati is it?
@IconicMotorbikes 996R, its one you're familiar with 😎
@@emptymannull wow, that is very cool! Impressive to have a 0-mile example of a 996R!
Motorbikes are to be ridden to truly enjoy them to their maximum. They're a mechanical object. Not to be sat on the mantle piece, as it were a vase.
@deanmsimpson Valid opinion, but it's a little played out. All you do is buy a 2nd as a rider 🤘 Next time contribute a positive comment instead of parroting criticisms or personal beliefs on someone else you don't know 👍
I worked at a Honda dealer in Geneva in those days you could buy a Vtwin for 98,000 Swiss Francs
想不到,現在居然還有如此夢幻的逸品
WOW!!
John Mcginess run one of those on the roads in vimto colours and a wildcard in the British gp saw him at olivers mount on it sounded amazing
Wow 🤩 amazing to see something like that still in the crate and untouched. I’m surprised it was shipped with painted bodywork and not just bare panels considering the majority would be put into race team colours etc
@@troy45uk we were told that’s because Honda used this as a display bike at events. It also matches the colors shown in the 2002 HRC brochure, which is cool! We’ll show an example of that in the auction listing.
That explains it then, and even more history to the bike in that case. Remember seeing one of these being raced in the UK and saw the team Vimto bikes in their workshop for the 1999 TT races. Funny story I was looking at either the 500V or RS250 and noticed Dunlop intermediate rear tyre looked unusual compared to using them on my RS125. They got rear wheels mixed up, both bikes ran single sided swinging arms but open on opposite sides.
Toujours aussi belle!
Love every second one this
Thanks for watching!
It must be worth a lot of money, absolutely mint.
We'll find out together!
Probably a shame that it’s worth so much and will never see the track . It’s heart will be broken 😢
What an amazing bike and time capsule. This is from the era when MotoGP bikes looked like normal bikes not with all the dive planes and odd shape of the current MotoGP bikes.
Amen to that!
@@IconicMotorbikes Hopefully you'll have more content on this bike. I can watch hours of it.
hondaaaaaa it hondaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!honda es ondaaaa
4 to 7 pounds of air will do It for sure a pound at a time ,I have done to very similar. You may suction cup on to ? I would use air from bottom of tank fuel tap taken off with a release valve threaded in
Done dents for 24 years. That tank is definitely fixable. The best in California for tanks is Daniel Grom, Dent Dynamics in Santa Rosa. Check with him.
Tanks!!!
Daniel Grom ....... Just HAS to work on a Honda ..... 😁😁😁😬
Unicorn 🎉 congrats men!
I love that🔥🔥
Try airing the tank up
Loucura total de maquina! Linda ❤
Por favor toma conta dela numa redoma de vidro! 😎
Muitos Parabéns! 🇵🇹
You should get a good paintless dent removal service take a look at the dent in the tank.
A bit different but .... Maybe...... I had my Porsche mechanic fix "crushed" oil return lines on my '77 911 using gentle (very) heat and compressed air in the lines.
Couldn't believe how well it worked but give Daniel Grom a call
Does Iconic Motorbikes realise that they’ve used the Peugeot Talbot Sport stripes?
Love the NSR 500, but my preferred spec would be a circa ‘92 Rothmans livery example.
a dog rough one at bonehams london last month. . said only 20 made, think it got to 90,000, pound and didnot sell
stephenhuskisson2230 I believe that was the one John McGuinness raced at the IOM TT.
WOW !!!😊❤
I've heard of some success pressurizing the tank with water to pop dents out from the inside. Is that a possibility?
Obviously
Wow, unicorns do exist after all.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Valentino 46 wants to buy this bike .
That’s true, wasn’t the NSR500 the one bike Honda never gave him?
why would he , he never rode that bike, hes in a court case with honda about is nsr 500 v4 , , as it was in this contract for honda to give it him. , at end of that year, but honda keep it, as last two storke gp winner, and its still going on now
@stephenhuskisson2230 because sometimes you just get what you can
@@stewart8127 Nope, this was the "cheap" privateer version, NOT the 4 cylinder NSR 500 that Rossi rode, why the hell would Rossi want that ? It makes ZERO sense....
@MickH60 you are correct. He still probably wants it
Of course the wheels have a date ?
Its kind of sad that this 20 year old Honda race bike is cooler than anything they have available now. I mean, couldn't H. build a V2 or V4 four stroke version of this for their fans, (even if it was diluted for street use )?
The 213VS is pretty cool… haha but thats like a million dollars
@ciello___8307 Honda fans were waiting for a V4 sportbike for years....but only the ultra rich were rewarded 😞
Wow! Full chub
cheers
Compressed air pressure would blow that depression on the tank straight up! Seal it up & get a good valve & blow it!!
It’s an absolute crime to not ride this bike.
Hopefully the next owner will rectify that! The current owner has another one that he did ride, for what it's worth.
Did they tell the price ?
It's currently up on our auction site!
iconicmotorbikeauctions.com/auction/1997-honda-nsr500v/
I remember talking to Joey about his in 98, he hated it,far too fussy and twitchy, wanted to wheely in any gear and was far from stable....
@Team-fabulous I believe that, it wouldn't have been ideal for the Irish road races were as a four stroke having more usable power delivery ie RC30/45 and no better man to pilot one than Joey rip💔
@@R.S.407 He also rode it at Macau, said it was all over the place.... Yes RIP our Joey, just a lovely bloke..
I remember Joey using the 500 in practice at the TT in '97, but he ended up racing the RC45. Jim Moodle raced an NSR for Padgett's that year.
Can you still get parts for it?
Indeed we can!
Those who know, KNOW!
V2?
Correct, it's the V2.
7min 24 is when they finally show it
Is it going to be up for sale?
Yes, it should go up on our auction site next week!
@@IconicMotorbikesDoes it include the spares kit as originally sold by Honda?
@@Eastern_SA Not as part of the auction but the seller has a tremendous amount of spares and we're glad to work something out with the next owner!

It will be going up on our auction site, there isn't a fixed price.
Rossi should bid for this…
wow
Isn’t “K”, a 2000 Model ?😊
@@TreadTalk247 we’ve been looking into that, do you by any chance have another example of a VIN of a 2000 model?
@ sorry my mistake, Y is 2000, it is on my TL1000R anyway. Again my mistake.
@@TreadTalk247 Ah, you're referring to the 10th digit in a 17-digit VIN, I presume?
@ correct, but I see the NSR doesn’t have 17 digits….
We have a 1927 Buick, for obvious reasons, doesn’t either 😂😂
Wow. It looks like Aprilia copied this chassis, for the RSV4.
I wish they copied the single sided swing arm also. LOL.
No way i wouldnt ride that if it was mine
I don’t even wanna know what that cost
I'll tell you nonetheless, it sold for $267,707 when we auctioned it off!

5 Years ago, i was see 4 of this Model and i know to where it was delivered 😂
And i know the Price, 😉
It’s an eagle in a cage, it needs a story. New tyres fresh fluids take to it a airstrip and let her sing… at least once
Hard to get a NSR500 especially the V4. -Usually Honda only leases them out to racing teams.
This one is a twin.
The V4s were leased (motorcycle magazines of the time said for $1 million per season), the V2s (like this one) were available to purchase.
@@IconicMotorbikes By any chance you may recall, how much were the V2s going for back then?
@@ouch74 Back when they were released to the public in 1997 they were roughly $100k.
@@ouch74 Articles online say they went for around $100,000 at the time.
When you fill the tank it wil. Pop out
Miss 2 stroke engines.
#001 for year 2002?

Not the first NSR500V
Absolute sex on two wheels. I can't imagine what it's gonna sell for.
If it has been filled with anti freeze, that magnesium water pump may be corroded.
