Cannot stop watching this.Still cannot believe I was there. Not long after I saw Mike in Frankfurt and met Simon and Maggie. We went backstage unknown to security after the concert but unfortunately Mike had long gone.Mike has always been my favourite artist since Tubular bells came out and he always will be.
I caught this tour in Wurzburg. I was fourteen, and this was my first concert. I already deeply entrenched in my studies as a classical trumpet player, and I went with a friend of mine who was a drum prodigy. (He met Simon at the Frankfurtmesse a year or two later and they had a nice chat about Bill Bruford, if I remember correctly.) Anyway, we sat behind the speakers and could almost look down onto Simon's new Art Star kit. Mind blown. I've seen many great drummers over the years, and I've played in bands and orchestras with a few, but Simon's drumming that night in Wurzburg stays with me all these years later. As he came off stage, we called down to him, and Mike had to go grab Simon and pointed up to us where we waved to each other. I think my friend and I went out and bought every recording with Simon on that we could. That was an absolutely unforgettable experience. The only other drummer I've seen who came close was Neil Peart. I know he gets a lot of crap, but the man knew how to play to the song and put on one helluva show.
Este tema es grandioso, una bestialidad, una de las muchas obras maestras olvidadas de su inmensa discografía. Hay que tener unas conexiones neuronales brutales para crear una pieza tan sorprendente y tan rica en matices.
the thing about Simon Phillips, is not just that he has technique to burn, but he's a total musician, the way he hits the drums and when he hits them are utterly unique and make perfect sense in the context of the music. This is a powerhouse and phenomenal performance
Holy mackerel! How I've never heard this before as a big Mike Oldfield fan, I'll never know, but what a blinder of a drum solo that is! Please someone invent a time machine so I can pop back and be there.
Can't think of a better one, or equal one @ the moment, well wait......maybe equal, Santana's drummer @ Woodstock on Soul Kitchen(69), or Bruford of YeS on Perpetual Change live in 73/74?
R.I.P. Phil Spalding (1957 - 2023)
Llevo años buscando algo mejor, en cuarenta años me ha sido imposible. Gracias Mike
Pierre Moerlen and Simon Phillips in the same band ... wonderful !!!
Grande pagina di storia della musica!!!! Simon Phillips semplicemente mostruoso!!!

31 years old and still amazing!
Best drummer in the world, Simon Phillips
Con permiso de phil collins
Simon was always a beast of a drummer
To misquote John Lennon, he wasn't even the best drummer on stage ;) Pierre Moerlen is my favourite (RIP)
Sure up there with the best!

Simon Phillips, una sicurezza. Grandissimo. Bestiale.Nell'83 faceva cose impensabili per la maggior parte dei batteristi odierni.
probabely the best album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great to see this, Fantastic sound quality and great to see vintage Simon Phillips on drums, with his FibreStar Tama kit.

After FM'sOut, Crisis was a switch/witch, of sorts, & took a few listens to enter into....fully. But once did, blew the blinders off!
Майк - уникален.
これをLIVEでやるって素晴らしい
Epic ❣️❣️❣️❣️
this is pretty much as good as the album if not slightly better - if you went to this concert you heard and saw a classic.
Espectacular
From 13:20, my favorite drum solo ever
Can't think of a better one, or equal one @ the moment, well wait......maybe equal, Santana's drummer @ Woodstock on Soul Kitchen(69), or Bruford of YeS on Perpetual Change live in 73/74?
cojonudo gracias!
love it.
At that time I could be unaccurate, but to have Simon Phillips at your back was then like to have a power plant about to explode, what a drummer!!!
well... i hear this, whenever i have some crisis :)...
...but be aware:
YOU CAN´T GET AWAY!!!
oh yeah: i love it!
don't say that - I already have enough existential crises thank you very much indeed!
That's actually how this song helped me through many a crisis. It goes from denial to acceptance to: F*ck this, I will survive or die on this hill!
I was there ! My mate bust his teeth running for the tube and tripping up!
Spettacolo allo stato puro
mike doing his mark knocker imp.great track
Simon Phillips solo from 17.00
Not sure if Phil Spalding is a bassist or a dancer.
Neil Peart best drummer in world .
Well this is Simon Phillips giving it his all on the live tour of an album he also co produced and engineered with Mike Oldfield...
Mr Simon Phillips from 17:30 onwards... Did they have Red Bull back then?
Red Bull didn't exist before 1987.
oher guiarist is neal schon guiarist of journey and ex guitar of carlos santana-genius
Who is the second guitarist who plays Mikes SG?
Ant Glynne.
For a guitarist Mike Oldfield writes some amazing music for drums. Note Mount Teide :)
