So much going on here : The Indian lady singing, the little girls speech like telling an old story, the sirens, the sound of pumping heart and the tubular bells / yet we have the finale with all this together with the heavy drums. fantastic!

Always in time 46 here and listening from 4 years old. Started with the magical Platinum vynil with astonishing butterfly cover , in some aspects better than Tubular Bells.
I love his music since my childhood. When I was 14 others laughed on me and asked me "What is this" ? I couldn't explain them what I feel when I listen to his music because they would not have understood. Mike Vangelis and Jare were my favorite in that time. They said I am an UFO...Who knows ?....
The encore. Same as what was just heard. Because once is not enough. I think perhaps the best thing I've ever heard on TH-cam and quite possibly the best thing I will ever hear on TH-cam. Years ago the phrase trance music was used for various songs. This is the ultimate.

Listening to those tracks for over a decade when I found Mike Oldfield's music. This piece still gives me the same emotions and goosebumbs every single time. Had a 1088km trip (so said the gps) and listened to this over and over again... It felt out of this world, the highways, the night, me and his music. I would do the trip again for no other reason than to feel this. Amaizing...beautifull....there are no enough words.
23 years; the time that has passed SINCE this spectacular performance of 1 of my ALL-TIME fave albums of his, AND the age of my FIRST born. Born in a GREAT year! Gives me chills down my spine EVERY time I listen to this. Phenomenal. #mayhismusicliveon My eldest son even likes his music; thanks to his Mum lol. (ME, did I say?) Lol.
I have just read his autobiography and You realise how talented but tortured this guy actually is. I believe he is fortunately in a good place now and can address his issues of the past. In many years to come he will be compared to Mozart and Beethoven. He is still for now thankfully a living legend. God bless you Mike.

I remember when I was 14 comming home from school and playing this on top volume every other day I put this DVD in player after 8 years not hearing it Whole concert is magical...but when it came to this.....I had tears in my eyes once again. The memories and THE masterpiece.....just incredible I have goosebumps only thinking about it...sadly I won't ever see this live in my life :(
I feel this so strongly. when i rewatched this concert as an adult was the first time i shed a tear listening to music (I think it was the moonlight shadow outro solo specifically, which i hadn't heard ever before)
I adore Oldfield, but I'd say that there aren't others who can play any particular instrument as well as he. Oldfield is an amazing multi-talent, playing various instruments at a really high level _and_ being a world-class composer. For another amazing _guitar_ player, look up Emppu Vuorinen from Nightwish. There are a couple of compilations of some of his solos for a "quick look". One thing worth noting about Emppu is that he simply doesn't show off - he plays what the song needs, no more, no less... He _can_ shred and pull off some great pinch harmonics and all that, but he can also play a David Gilmour style solo 🥰

This concert at Horseguards was absolutely phenomenal, atmosphere electric - thank you Mike Oldfield - best I've ever been to and with my mate Richard Hill, we danced and got soaked in the rainstorm.

Oldfield is a pioneer and master in combining acoustic traditional instruments with electronic music. I think he was the first one, in the early 70's.

I saw MO in 1980 doing his Platinum tour with none other than Pierre and Benoit Moerlen and Hansford Rowe. Incredible music that night which encored with the Blaydon Races.

I feel this so strongly. when i rewatched this concert as an adult was the first time i shed a tear listening to music (I think it was the moonlight shadow outro solo specifically, which i hadn't heard ever before)

I adore Oldfield, but I'd say that there aren't others who can play any particular instrument as well as he. Oldfield is an amazing multi-talent, playing various instruments at a really high level _and_ being a world-class composer.
For another amazing _guitar_ player, look up Emppu Vuorinen from Nightwish. There are a couple of compilations of some of his solos for a "quick look". One thing worth noting about Emppu is that he simply doesn't show off - he plays what the song needs, no more, no less... He _can_ shred and pull off some great pinch harmonics and all that, but he can also play a David Gilmour style solo 🥰
After more than 20 years this still sends shivers down my spine every time I hear this. Magical and awesome simply don't sum up how brilliant this is.

This concert at Horseguards was absolutely phenomenal, atmosphere electric - thank you Mike Oldfield - best I've ever been to and with my mate Richard Hill, we danced and got soaked in the rainstorm.
So happy to see that Richard Branson was there! If not for him, Tubular Bells may never have been brought to life. Mike Oldfield, what incredible talent and vision, music far beyond his time for sure. Love this, thank you. Blessed Be xxx
