El directo del chándal verde!! 🙄 (Tiempos de la copia audio cassette, y trozos en VHS sin referencia alguna en casa de alguien). Pre-Internet. En el que mejor toca (eruditos dixit). En el que el sonido de esa guitarra fue el mejor, IRREPETIBLE, y el más virtuoso. El Bells de EXPOSED, sin embargo, (comprar el vinilo con aquella portada minimalistamente maravillosa decanta) es la 👑! Gracias, por subirlo. 👏👏

Efectivamente, el mítico directo del chándal verde. Probablemente la mejor actuación en directo de Oldfield, si os fijáis bien hay algunos momentos en los que levita sobre el escenario y una luz celestial cae sobre él.
El sonido de la guitarra, irrepetible, cristalino cuando va en canal limpio con chorus y acojonantemente intenso cuando toca en saturado con las frecuencias medias subidísimas hasta arriba en el EQ, creo que no volvió a igualarse nunca más al de aquella actuación.
Aquel día la ejecución a la guitarra fue perfecta y nos dejó algún riff de guitarra que nunca antes se lo habíamos oído y nunca más volvimos a hacerlo.
Mención especial al solo de guitarra de Guilty (0:05:47) y a la sección de guitarra eléctrica de TB pt. II (0:44:47)
Este vídeo debería enseñarse en las escuelas de guitarra eléctrica, para explicar a los alumnos que hay un mundo más allá de las escalas pentatónicas y los arpegios de barrido, y que es un mundo musicalmente hermoso

Best drum solo ever from Pierre Moerlen. We miss you.
Absolutely amazing performance, the whole band were on top form and Mike was playing inspired guitar playing, it's about time we had a high quality release of this.
This is my all-time favorite Oldfield live performance, this is Oldfield in Top shape playing so the strings are glowing, and the rest of the group is super good too. It's also a good example of when the music is the most important and in focus and not visual and special effects.
It's a wonderful performance indeed. Having Hansford Howe in the bass and the Moerlen brothers makes a difference. If you don't mind, I'd like to suggest you listen the album Downwind from Pierre Moerlen's Gong. M.O. is a guest performer. Regards
I know music has changed nowadays! I respect everyones taste! But you won't find musicians like this often. Genius! One of a kind. I'll never be bored of this album 😊

The best Mike Oldfield concert for my taste. What a great musicianship. I keep returning to watch this amazing concert since 1987, when I was finishing my primary school.
Agreed, everybody is absolutely playing at their peak, together they reach a different level. Even though most of the compositions feature on Exposed, that live album doesn't quite have the same electricity as this performance. The only bad thing about it is the fashions!

Thanks for uploading. There will a generation of people think this is outdated, that they are wearing not cool clothes, and theres no real lyrics, but theres a few generation, like me, who watched this continuously as a teenager, marvelled at this man, and playing some of the best versions of his work live, with probably the best line up playing with him. The Ending of Ommadawn screams loud, primitively and brilliantly.
When an artist cannot fill his show, he needs to attract attention with his clothes.
the simplicity of the speakers, instruments and the messy order of a rehearsal space, creates the magic of this Mike,s concert.

What a fantastic concert showcasing the genius of Mike Oldfield who composed four masterpieces in a row ending with ‘Incantations’. It’s a shame he hardly ever tours nowadays.

The best performances of Tubular Bells and Ommadawn that I have ever heard. First rate musicians, and the extra bonus of Ian Emes’ impressive animations.
I've been a fan of Mike's since my teenage years back in the 70s. Saw him in concert (Five Moles Out tour). I agree, this is the maybe best guitar I've ever heard.
I remember searching high and low in the 80's trying to find this video. Ordered it in WH Smith in Liverpool and had to wait for many, many weeks because it had been discontinued. Finally it arrived and was certainly worth the wait. This has got to be one of his best live performances in my opinion. Just superb.

@@dogbandit Yes we had to search high and low in the 80's but the searching was part of the fun. How things have changed and yes £45 was a lot of money back then. Glad you've still got your copy. I've still got mine too.

Pure Magic. This takes me back to being 15 or so ... watched the video to death. the outfits are something they could only have got away with in the very early 80's ;) but the music will last a lifetime and has no sell by date at all.
It's funny i was exakt 15 also when i bought it on VHS and i watch it until the tape fall apart. This concert shows when the music is great you don't need any light shows or whatever👌
As a long, long time Oldfield fan, I can't believe that I've never seen this!!!! It is just as mesmerising as listening to a new piece, for the first time. Playing is off the scale, (from all musicians). Love the ethos of playing at the start, one note with feeling, but yes..... those outfits!!!!!!!

En el bajo Hansford Rowe... Una auténtica máquina funky, rebosante de musicalidad y sentido del ritmo. Y creo que este vídeo es el mejor que hay para verlo en sus buenos tiempo. Ojalá hubiera alguno de Pierre Moerlen´s Gong...

Thank you so much for posting this! I remember that I bought this video when I got my first VHS video player by my first salary. A friend of mine and I talked that it was worth enough to get a video player just for watching this. Since VHS video players were out, I could not watch it and has been sorry for that. Your Bonus track is great which I watched for the first time. Glad to be alive, glad to be here!

I didn't think about it but holy that is Pierre in the purple. How funny how some individuals sound so distinct. Amazing revelation from a show I've seen a few times already, now in a kinda new light
