Es lo que pasa cuando ves El Teide por primera vez, Mike Oldfield hizo ésta obra de arte, el resto de los mortales graba esa imagen y no la olvidará nunca.
i got this on a cassette in the middle of the 80s, and loved it so much (nly around 14 years old then), but later lost in and and recovered it as a CD in late 90s.. Never lost that, but still very thankful for this great way to expereience Oldfields beautiful music like this whenever and where ever. With Love from Sweden :)
No tinc paraules ja per descriure el que sento al gaudir d'una de les millors peçes per mi de Mike Oldfield. Clímax total. Virtuosisme. Un geni de la música...sense més.
That´s happened when Mike Oldfiel saw The Teide for first time, he did this awesome music, the rest of the people just engrave the view in their minds for ever.
although this sounds slightly thin on the ground at times I absolute love it ... brave and interesting arrangement and variation from the original. Thanks for posting - only wish I could have been there
Tnía 18 años.....recuerdo que lo primero que me llamó la atención en cuanto entre al velódromo de Anoeta fue la majestuosa bateria TAMA de Simon Philips........el resto fue apoteósico!!!!
I think, "The Lake" is one of his most brilliant masterpieces, I like it sooooo much! But I think, the performance of Viareggio was a little better than this - it had more "power". Anyway - I love all MO-concerts!
I was in Viareggio, and I think it is a matter of recording, a matter of sound. For exmple, at 9:40 the volume of the guitar is very loud, even more than drums, and it takes away some power. Having said that, every night is different because of some little details that can result more important than one can think. What is always the same , and always will be, is the beauty of the piece of music.
How does Mike get that amazing distortion tone? Des anyone have a clue on his pedalboard ? I know he probably is using a Twin Reverb as in the studio, but that alone can't achieve that sweet dark tone to whisteling highs.

The 80s and Mike Oldfield are true magic

This wonderful music makes me wish all the classic synths (SCI Prophet 5, Fairlight CMI, Polysix etc.) are still in production.
Mesmerizing! Beautifully different composition to hear. Really glad that someone was able to conserve this here. Now to the record...
Keep in mind that conservation isn’t preservation...
