motoz tires are fantastic have run them on my kms ..my Africa twin.. lots of off road and pavement.. tried the different models also..the rallz I liked the most ..run much less air in them for off road make a big difference ..less deflection off rocks ..etc.also suspension really can affect the front end of your machines ..I am a 54 year old rider with over 45 years of riding under my belt.. and over 50 bikes..so I do have some learned knowledge also standing up off road as much as possible gives you much better balance and bike control . good luck and be safe

Ben trust me when I tell you that the Baja no pinch is light years ahead of doing it how you did on this video. I’ve done a bunch of tire changes and fixes out on the trail and that baja make’s getting that last bead over the rim so quick and easy and no part of it goes inside so no chance of pinching the tube.
@@osimnod I carry motion pro bead breaker tool and several aluminum tire irons. Breaking the bead is easy with it. The most delicate part of changing a tire or fixing a flat on the trail is not pinching the tube when reseating the bead. If you watch when Ben pops the bead back on his tire irons were inside the rim. With the Baja no pinch tool nothing goes inside and you won’t pinch the tube. I’ve used it in the middle of nowhere several times now and love it. Literally takes a few seconds to get the bead back on. It has a permanent home on my bike as well as my best rest tire pump tube/ tire patch repair kit and one spare tube that will work in either rim.

I always put some air in the tube to square things up .. then deflate the tube. I have a vacuum tool that sucks the air out of a tube by blowing air into the brass tool that screws on to the valve stem .
Change them in the floor lay down cardboard, use the NoMAR tire lube - put the tires out in SUN using tire irons. Whichever way it is easiest as sometimes they go on like easy sometimes you wrestle like rear 19" motocross tires are stiff and take a few minutes more.
I really like the Kenda equivalent, K270s on my gen 2. They were a little wild at high speeds but manageable still, and really did a good job off road.
I used the Dsports on my 690 for the AZBDR and rode home on slicks. Not much life, not great grip, and as you said very twitchy highway manners. I've been using Motoz almost exclusively since. Rallz, Dual Venture, and Adventure are all fantastic ADV bike options with stupid amounts of traction and insane life. I've put around 8k miles on a Rallz set and still had life on the front. Motoz are just the best. They are all very loud at speed, but hey, that's what earplugs are for.
Tusk DS tires are $68 by mail. The Motoz is about $130. 30,000 miles on the TUSK tires, not a single problem. Sure only about 3,000 per tire but that's pretty good. Baja, BDR, Colorado peaks, Utah sand. They are great tires, nearly equal to a Dunlop 606 for half the price. Not a great road tire but no good knobby is. Not a good tire for large bike. great for DS not adventure bike.
still running the shinko 804/804 that I put on a couple of years ago.. they are holding out pretty good. One day I'll have to get some new boots for it but for now it is still good. Nice day for a ride.
Those tires are definitely a good on/off road compromise. Not to different from the tires I have on my 701 now. Very pleasant on the road, but a little sketchy on mud and snow lol
I got 4500 miles out of the RallZ front. The tire was awesome with lots of life until I put about 1000 miles of straight pavement on it and it saw toothed all the way to the base of the tire. The alternating lugs looked brand new and the others were non existent, I could not believe it! If you don't let it get hot it will last you a LOT longer!
I think that was the same deal with the dual sport. Seemed like it was lasting, until I'd ride it on the highway, then it seemed to disappear before my eyes!
Just found your channel and really liking your content. I have a 2015 KLR and love it. This was a great video although I will continue to pay my local shop $20 a tire in that I don’t have a tenth of your experience with tires. Good job on this video
Inexperienced? I used a sawsall to remove my first dirt bike tire -- bead wouldn't break and I wasn't patient enough to figure it out. After watching several videos I'm finally confident enough to do a trailside repair in a reasonable time with less aggravation.
@@RaptorPackAdventures Practice at home until it becomes like muscle memory. I had to remind myself to set the opposite edge of the tire into the center drop of the rim to facilitate remounting otherwise I'd snap the wire tire bead and ruin it.
Motoz GPS as a 50/50 tire lasts forever and does the job beautifully on pavement and moderate off road. Nil road noise and smooth as silk. Worth trying for the average punter. Don,t trust it on wet pavement but that goes for any tire- go easy!!!
Dsport front is a good tire on the hwy with my drz400. Klr just cant handle any really aggressive front tires on the hwy. Rallz front has been great on my klr. It's about the most aggressive you can put on the front in my experience and not ruin its hwy performance
On the T7 if you pick the tubed version of the Dualventure, it has smaller blocks and wider spacing than the tubeless one from what I understand. That’s why it looks a bit more dirt I’d say.

I absolutely hate the front D-Sport. The rear is amazing, but man the front would just never go where I wanted and as you experienced it vibrates like crazy even when balances correctly. It is good value though!
@@SwankyCatProductions I was saying more as an FYI. I've seen people complain about the high speed handling of the KLR on the road, and after I swapped out the tires, zero issues with mine. My KLR lives on the Interstate, normally between 70 and 80, and is very stable at speed. I bought the Eagle Mike fork brace, but I haven't put it on, after the tires, I just don't need it. Right after I bought the bike, tires/sprockets (16/38)/chain got swapped, and it became a very nice high speed commuter.
I absolutely love the motoz tires on my T7. I don’t have the rallz but it’s very similar. It was the “dualventure” tire because the “adventure” rear I had was out of stock for the front. I love it though. It’s very smooth on the highway and has tons of grip on trails. The only complaint I have is the steering feels extremely loose at high speeds and wounders a bit but that’s the price ya pay I think for high traction off road
I really liked the Tractionator adventures on my T7 also. As big as the bike is and as much power as it has they never seemed to be pushed past their limit, no matter the surface!
As stated, the tusk fronts are horrible. Feel like I’m going to crash every ride, on and off road. Absolutely horrible off road. The rears are amazing. My favorites for all around are the kenda 270. Unstoppable on and off road.

I have the same tires on my 22 klr. the road noise is unbearable. sounds like a bearing going out but when i lean as little as 1 degree the noise stops. dont notice it on gravel or any off road. Are the tires the cause of this? driving me nuts! just started noticing this noise. I have been off the bike since late February due to open heart surgery but back riding not however this noise has me very discouraged ... thoughts?
My guess would be tires yeah. I had that with the front D-Sport as well. Same exact thing, awful howl until you lean just slightly to the side (off the normal wear spot) and then it's maddeningly silent. Of course that is until you have to lean back to center and the noise starts up again. You could try a little more air in the front tire to help lift some of the tread off the pavement, but I'd stay below the max recommended PSI on the sidewall of the tire.
Anything other than smooth pavement and it tracked with it. Rain grooves, tar snakes, and good heavens, metal grate bridges! They all put the stock steering dampener to work. Offroad it was great, but then even a TMM is great on an Adventure R offroad. I would absolutely run an AX-41 before touching a RallZ again. And the Rallz was worn at 2K. Not as cupped as a DSport, but not enough to run it. - Frank
I have the Tusk 2Track up front and it is awful on the road (twitchy, grabby when you lean just a bit or turn like you described exactly at ~19:35 "not round enough") tried every pressure.. gonna ditch them soon and maybe these Motoz are the ticket, thanks! BTW read tons of 2track reviews and no one mentions this, just praise.... but none are on KLRs - just heavier bikes. So I guess it's unique to the KLR?
My assumption would be that it has to do with weight. I've got the same D sport I pulled off the KLR and two bikes that weigh about 350 lbs and 266 lbs. ZERO issues on either of them. Either a Motoz or the new Tusk Waypoint might be a good option. They are similar to the D-Sport front, but the treads are much more tightly packed and it seems pretty solid on my XR!
IN your older videos you put on the uni air filter and the lex pipe and I am curious if you have pulled the spark plug and checked I the bike is running lean and have you had any long term affects from those mods cause I just got my own and am interested in doing them as well
Been telling people for a long time that the Dsports are an awful tire if you need to do any road time. I've been running the Motoz Rallz on my DRZ and my DR650 for a couple season now and they are a superior tire in every way
I think your comments about the Himalayan being high maintenance and unreliable aren't justified, I have seen Fortnite do oil analysis showing Royal Himalayan engine being an internal clean, better than most. They are rugged and reliable, just a bit heavy and not built for speed but as a cheap work horse. The 450 will be worth keeping an eye on, as it has better suspension power and handling. I was interested in the TRACTIONATOR RALLZ as a more roadworthy replacement for the Pirelli MT21 that is noisy on the tar and could wear better, but is still great off-road. Cheers
Yeah, I think for the average rider they are probably just fine. My dad just remembers the clutch issues Itchy Boots had, I guess that really put him off. But he's pretty attached to his Japanese bikes after all the years he's ridden just them.

I beg to differ, Baja no pinch Tire Tool willl make the difficult job that you are doing, quite simple. It only took me a couple of Tire changes to learn how to use the tool efficiently. You're making that job look incredibly difficult
He's doing it the hard way for sure. When taking off tires pry both sides out over the rim then pull the rim out/off with the tube still in the tire, it's quicker and easier this way. When putting the new tire on the absolute first thing you do is put the tube in the tire then put the valve stem in the rim, again much easier as you dont fight with it getting the valve stem through the rim with the tire half way on. I also use the baja no pinch tire tool, I dont find it any easier but it's safer. Last summer a neighbor brought me a crf250l rear tire he was replacing the tube in, he spent an hour trying to get the valve stem into the rim with the tire half way on. I took the tire off the rim, put the tube in it then did the valve stem first, it took about 5 minutes total lol.
Do you ride the DV at highway speed? The DV front wobbled on most surfaces above 70mph. I finally got tired of it and switched it to a Shinko 804. Not as good off road but I travel too many miles on road. My DV is the tubeless type. I live in West Texas so even our backroads are 75 mph. Glad you are liking yours. I’m saving mine for a BDR.
@@larrytucker1945 I must say that i do not usually ride very fast on the highway. I cruise around 65mph. It tramlines slightly, but nothing that bothers me. I spend most of my time on desert trails here in Phoenix. I just take the pavement to get to the trails (15min to 45min away). I have no complaints for my riding style. I have put a few hundred miles on them so far.
The easy way to change a tire and tube is to pay someone to do it. I was a tire guy for 20 years now I'm too old and fingers don't work like thay used too. Lol

Question: the tool is not capable of removing a tire so you still need to carry tire irons for that task. How have you dealt with that?

Very similar to the experience I had with my Tractionators on the T7. Really cant say anything bad about them. Definitely my go to tire.

You should invest in a Baja No Pinch. It's the best motorcycle tire tool I have ever bought!
I run 100% road tires on my '23. Zero wag/wobble at speed on the highway, any loading. Most dirt I run is two track or gravel.

I thought the nut on the valve / inner tube was supposed to go on the outside?

D-Sport rear tires seem good but loud. Ive had bad luck with the fronts. I just started biting the bullet and buying MT21s for the front.

Zip ties. I can put mine back on with no tools using zip ties. No worries about pinches

@@larrytucker1945 I must say that i do not usually ride very fast on the highway. I cruise around 65mph. It tramlines slightly, but nothing that bothers me.
I spend most of my time on desert trails here in Phoenix. I just take the pavement to get to the trails (15min to 45min away).
I have no complaints for my riding style.
I have put a few hundred miles on them so far.

I had a set of tusk d sports on my wr250r and after 300 miles threw them in the trash and went with motoz tires and will never by anything else
What didn't you like about them on the WR? I assumed they would be great on a lighter bike.

The easy way to change a tire and tube is to pay someone to do it. I was a tire guy for 20 years now I'm too old and fingers don't work like thay used too. Lol
