Surprisingly fun to ride! | BMW R1150GS | RAW ONBOARD | 4K

  • Ciao! :)
I was in Italy and Slovenia for 3 days and I had the opportunity to ride around a bit.
This is the first of 3 RAWs you'll see from that time.
Italy and Slovenia during june can be extremely hot already....we had up to ~32°C most of the time.
Some words over the good old 1150...Are the newer GSes better? Of course! Are they worth double or three times the money? NO, not at all. At least not for me!
As you can see in the video, I had no problems keeping up with a group of "modern" bikes which all had well over a 100HP. The handling of that heavy beast is also quite impressive....once it starts rolling, it feels like a 500cc bike, when you flick it around the corners. It definitley needs another exhaust tho...:)
All in all, the 1150 isn't for everyone! You should be able to do most mechanical jobs by yourself, otherwise it's getting expensive very, very fast...
Anyway, enjoy the lovley flat sound of the boxer!

I also own a 2005 1150 GS ADV- Great bike especially for the price. It is the last GS without too much electronics and is does the job quiete well. Its always a matter of taste and budget. 4 Years ago I spent 6600€ fully equipped. the money I saved on buying it I invest in travelling. In a couple of years its gonna be a classic bike. overall I never regret having bought that bike. Ride on

Bought mine in 1999. Still got her and will never sell her. These bikes do handle so much better than people think and are also so easy to thread your way through traffic and even a bit of track riding. Maybe most importantly they have a character missing on many modern bikes.

The landscape is just breath taking, really appreciate it. I have the same bike and when I bought it I was shifting just like you, which is not the correct way for the boxer. You can't do it so slowly, just use 2 fingers and don't let the revs go down, you will enjoy the ride much more and it becomes so smooth. Cheers

Thanks, but I'm actually not that good with the rev matching...still some clunks here and there. The procedure is actually very simple. For Downshifts give the gear lever a slight preload(as minimal as possible!) and then a little "blip" with the throttle, shifting and pull the clutch in a little bit. Shifting and clutch at the same time, the throttle "blip" bofore, but nearly at the same time. You feel it, once done right. I love greece for motorcycling btw!
